....that needs to be made..

After painfully re-watching this mess of a secondary play....

Number 20 keeps showing up as a player that played just as bad as number 41...

He was caught out of position, took poor angles when attempting to tackle, showed no physicality, in fact seemed to shy away of that part of his game yesterday, and not to mention his lack of foot speed was a huge liability in pass coverage all day long...

Look for Boykin and Golden to be in the line-up Sunday night against the Colts.

I only hope you are right. I think those two changes would really help.

Won't happen. Tomlin loves Blake for some reason

Yep, said that about Allen weeks ago. In reality, the entire coverage scheme sucks, so not sure how much it helps having better players.

Will Allen is fine if you are bringing him off the bench or asking him to spot start, but throwing him out there week after week and you have a glaring weakness. Golden performed pretty well when given the opportunity and is worth putting on the field more, especially when Allen is struggling.

Will Allen is a shell of his former self. He should be relegated to the bench.

Agree. Just pains me that we traded up for Shamarko and gave up a pick to the Clowns and this guy is dumber than a box of rocks. We will be drafting another safety this draft.

On the plus side, Mitchell's game has improved this season. He's missed some tackles but he has delivered some big hits for us along the way.

I think it's arguable that Will Allen looked as bad tackling yesterday as Blake. Both need to be removed from the lineup ASAP. I've been giving Blake the benefit of the doubt all year because of the plays he has made but yesterday was the breaking point.

Do I think they will be removed? Most likely not.

Of course they won't be removed. Tomlin loves Blake.

Allen is not fit to start anymore and its being so for a while now. Blake did a couple of good plays and that's given him the benefit of the doubt but enough is enough , he might be decent as a 4th CB but not starting

In the past, Blake has atleast showed to be physical and mix it up. However, yesterday, the many times he "leaned" into the defender was ridiculous. Now, he doesn't wanna do the only thing you could count on him for. The guy very clearly is not good enough and yet Tomlin somehow does not see this. That's not to say that Boykin is be all end all. He may very well suck too. But why in the **** has he not been given a fair opportunity? I've been behind Tomlin the entire time he's been here. This year, he's losing me and many others very fast.

I'm not saying Allen shouldn't be benched, but can't expect him to cover a quick shifty we like Baldwin

Golden looked better when he started. Just saying...

Shamarko made a bone headed move himself yesterday. Plug in Golden and Boykin. The team needs a change

So, what was the deal with us only using 2 D linemen after 1st down in most cases? I never noticed us do that before but we had just Tuitt and Heyward in their with linebackers much of the time. And, every time we did, Rawls got 5+ yards when he ran. I guess you could say they were trying to go with speed but that doesn't cut it against a power team. They may have been doing this in other games but this is the first time I noticed it.

I was surprised that Will Allen came back into the lineup when he got healthy. Golden seemed to play quite well in his place and he's been here for 3 years --- it's not like he doesn't know the defense.

It's all based on the offensive personnel. If there are 3 WRs on the field, the NT (McLendon) comes out and Cockrell comes in. Most teams (even Seattle) use 3 WRs most of the time. So our nickel defense is essentially our base defense now.

Don't bet on it. The first step is ADMITTING you have a problem, MT is not ready to take the first step.

And probably why we get beat so bad. Most teams have 3 linemen in the game and many 4 (those that run the 4-3). They all get more consistent push and pressure than we do. In a 3-4, you would think you would keep your base 3 linemen in the game. We have in the past but not recently. Why the change is my question. It certainly didn't work in this game. Rawls got 5+ on pretty much every 2nd down carry he had.
