Clay Travis has a good discussion on how stupid this is. It should be noted that the Big 10 has a new commissioner Kevin Warren. They had Jim Delaney for decades and I doubt he would have cancelled. I heard an interview with Whitlock and he said Warren used to be his agent years ago. He dropped Warren because he only promotes himself. He said that Warren does not care at all about the Big 10. It’s just a stepping stone to him. That’s why he is apt to cancel the season to please media types.
Here’s the most insane part. The Big 10 teams will still be allowed to have their 20 hours per week practices and the players will be back on campus with other students. The only thing cancelling the season does is they don’t play the game on Saturday. How the hell does that keep the kids safe?
It doesn’t. It’s just political, like the exception that you can be in a large group if you are protesting but if you want to have a backyard barbecue, the cops will shut you down. You can’t go to church but you can go to a casino or weed shop. YOU can’t go to a funeral, but if a Politician dies they can pack hundreds into a church for some speechifying.
