Listening to 93.7 The Fan and Ben says he's feeling good and when asked if he's playing Sunday he said its up to Coach Tomlin and hasn't gotten the word yet. He wants to play Sunday and still not sure yet and its the coaches' decision. He said he pushed it last week and his body didn't respond well Thursday night but was feeling better on Saturday. I guess we'll have to wait and see what Tomlin decides and how Ben feels the end of the week but my money is on the big man playing Sunday.

Also interesting side note. Grew up in Ohio with his favorite football team being the Niners with Cool Joe Montana and in baseball the Yanks with Derek Jeter. The Browns and Indians can't even get respect from the local kid growing up in Ohio. Thought that was funny.

Honestly, if he is still injured and taking a risk losing him for the season I would prefer Landry Jones to start and just try to run the ball, control the clock, and rely on the defense to keep it close until the end. We likely are not winning the division so lets keep the eye on the playoffs because all you need is to get in and you have a chance especially if you are hitting on all cylinders at the end of the year.

Not much needs to be said. If he practices with the 1s tomorrow and the rest of the week and feels OK, he should play .

I do not agree whatsoever with saying Ben should sit. He wanted to go last week and thought he was ready, so to me, there's no reason he shouldn't play this week. This is the most important game of the season so far. The division is not out of reach but it will be if we lose. Sometimes I wonder if the "save Ben" crowd knows that every game counts. Every game that he can play in, he should play in. Period

Tomlin is waiting to see if Vick can go. If Vick is good, Ben will sit.

Sarge, that is one of the craziest things I've ever heard. Unfortunately, it is probably a true statement.

I just read an interesting ( and eye opening ) article over on BTSC that details our fantasies about Ben.

Smarting from a depressing defeat in Kansas City, Steelers Nation anxiously awaits the return of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Besides the inspiring play of safety Mike Mitchell, a guy who, with each passing week, looks like he was born to wear a Black-and-Gold uniform, the Steelers' secondary is essentially a ragtag bunch of NFL misfits.

On the other hand, some fans refuse even to acknowledge the obvious fact that Ben Roethlisberger's absence from the gridiron is only the largest and most discussed of several significant problems that the team faces in its quest for a post-season berth. Thus, if we've drunk the Kool-Aid and accepted the notion that all will be well in Camelot once Ben returns, then we also must accept the fantasy that all was well prior to Ben's injury, when the Steelers stood at 1-1 and were struggling mightily to move the ball against the St. Louis Rams.

And when considering the musical-chairs scenario currently prevailing in the Steelers' secondary, it's hardly inappropriate to ask whether we honestly believe they've got enough bricks on the truck to make a full load.

No limitations on Roethlisberger this week

Coach Mike Tomlin said there will be no reservations or limitations on Ben Roethlisberger (knee) this week.

Tomlin added the plan is for Roethlisberger to start. Ben said in a radio interview Tuesday Tomlin will decide his status for this week, and it appears Tomlin has decided he will play.

I was just about to say the exact same thing....we are still in the running for a wildcard...just get in, then do damage with all hands on deck.

We weren't struggling to move the ball vs STL....where the hell are they getting that from ? We marched up and down but didn't finish drives...and we scored only 9 pts in the half...but we weren't struggling to move the ball until the 3rd quarter and when Vick came in the game. We moved it well vs Pats and moved it very well vs SF. I fully expect with a Healthy Ben we resume our 360+ yrds Total offense output ...especially with Martavius (Mar-TD-Us) the TD God back in the mix

Hardly. Opening drive went from the Steelers 20 to the Rams 2 yard line, settled for 3. Second drive went from the Steelers 8 yard line for a touchdown. Third drive had the INT. Fourth drive went to half time. Fifth drive started at the Steelers 20 got to midfield and Ben got injured.

I was surprised (well, maybe not) with not hearing Ben had a setback on Thursday. Didn't read or hear anything about that until today - nothing prior to the game. Then again, we seem to be very secretive on the injury front this year.

That's actually a good thing. If all you're required to tell is the affected area (knee) and condition (probable, questionable, out), I'm perfectly fine with that being the only information relayed. The less information your upcoming opponent has, the better.

Theres no way Vick sees the field again unless Ben reinjures himself and Landry gets decapitated.

And what's crazy is there was no sarcasm in that post at all.

Obviously, they are not talking about any of us here, on this message board. !!!!!

Salute the nation

You honestly believe that? You obviously read nothing else I have said about Vick. I am no fan of Tomlin, but I honestly do not believe he is that dumb. But whatever. You know everything else, no reason to believe you wouldn't know whether I was joking or not.

If you were being sarcastic I missed it and so did other posters. Sorry about that. Definitely don't know everything just missed it.

Sure to an extent but as a fan, I want to know. Like with Shazier, he had more than a stinger to miss 5 weeks. And, for Cortez to go on IR when he has been practicing most of the year doesn't make much sense either.

I'd rather Ben sit out this week and endure Landry Jones. The team needs Ben for the long haul

If Ben is healthy enough that his motion in the pocket isn't limited then he should play. If he has any issues there at all, then he should not. With no good backup option and backups at center and left tackle, that ought to be a no brainier

We'll know more with Ben at practice today.

Then tomorrow if can do it again and the knee doesn't swell up after

then after the next practice

like that

He's not out of the woods yet

jus like i perdicted

Roethlisberger “not getting hopes up” due to potential swelling

Though the Steelers are preparing to have Ben Roethlisberger back from a four-week absence for this week’s game vs. the Bengals, Roethlisberger told reporters Wednesday he’s “not getting [his] hopes up” until he sees how his knee reacts to the practice week.

Roethlisberger practiced last week on a limited basis, and he said his knee swelled up. That inflamation kept him out of last Friday’s practice, though doctors told Roethlisberger that was normal.
