Was it limited contact when Tyler Eifert dislocated his ankle while being tackled in the endzone? You can't limit contact in tackle football without eliminating the tackle.
First of all, Tyler Eifert is one of the most injury-prone guys playing in the NFL today. Secondly, why yes, it was limited contact -- he wasn't tackled, he landed awkwardly on his foot after jumping up for an overthrow.
So players today are smarter than they were in the past about their health, finances...etc. Good for them. It is a ridiculous and meaningless game that nobody should be risking anything to play in.
Smarter? Not sure. Bigger *******? Definitely. I'd bet that at least some of the players from last year's game found some meaning in their $58,000 paychecks for their paid trip to Hawaii.
I don't care if it is career altering or just an injury that forces you to miss OTA's, Training Camp, Conditioning...etc. Either way it hurts your team that you are under contract with for nothing. I don't watch that joke of a game so I have no idea who has been injured and who has not. MLB, NBA, and even the NHL can limit contact, the NFL cannot.
Great. Then don't watch. But I'll go ahead and give you an idea about who's actually been "gone for a year" with an ACL injury suffered in the Pro Bowl: NO ONE EVER.
And MLB can "limit" somebody getting hit in the face or wrist with a fastball? How's that, exactly?
Bowl games, you mean like the Billy Bob's Mountain Man Toothless Bowl, the spin the bottle Puke Bowl, or the Not Good Enough to make a real Bowl? Congratulations, participation trophy's have now hit college football. If you are not in the playoffs, you are playing for nothing at that point. You blow out a knee or suffer a concussion and you can cost yourself MILLIONS of dollars. Congratulations someone is telling these kids not to risk a career over a meaningless bowl game. Why would a pro athlete play in a game that he is not going to go 100%, defenders are not really going to tackle anybody, receivers are going to jog their routes, linemen don't block or rush, you can't blitz, so what is the point? The game is an absolute joke and I wish teams could prohibit their players from attending.
I don't care it it was the Toilet Bowl, the point is that these self-centered pricks are putting themselves in front of their teammates. You're a part of the team for years, then suddenly you abandon ship for fear of an injury? Why didn't that punk McCaffrey just sit out the last regular season game too? Never know, might get a hangnail, but we don't want to miss that all-important matchup with the Rice Owls, and forfeit and a chance to run for another 200 yards, right?
So you draw your "meaningless" bowl line at the playoffs? Why? Who really gives a **** if Alabama wins another "national title" or not? You think if Jonathan Allen would have torn up his knee, he'd be saying to himself, "Oh well. At least it was a playoff game"?
Pro Bowlers should play in the Pro Bowl because it's part of their ******* job. Period.
