The trading team would control Bell's rights, so during the off season they can transition tag him which could possibly now be as little as 11 million, and if needed match an offer from another team. They could franchise tag him too, granted that would be far more expensive and unlikely. The transition tag is a far better option. The point is a trading partner would be in full control over it's ability to keep Bell with the transition tag making the suggestion that Bell can only be a one year rental a myth, sounds like propaganda being pushed by Florio and others. So in a trade scenario, there's no reason for the Steelers not to push for full value.

I'm kind of on the fence with LevBell right now. I'm pissed at him for how he's handle all of this. I get that its his right to turn down the Steeler's offer but the way he handled it was pure bush league. Don't give the team the sense that you'll be back prior to the first game and then not show and cutoff contact. You lose credibility real fast and it shows what you're all about.

On the other hand his mere presence if he's in shape and that is a huge if, then he poses a huge threat and must be planned for by opposing defensive coordinators. It will make a difference in a positive way for this offense. I think a lot depends on what happens between now and when he returns for the Browns game. If we drop the next two it will be extremely difficult to dig out and the best scenario would be a trade for the best value we can get with the emphasis being on next year. If we somehow win the next two games then I think maybe you strongly consider keeping him for a run for the second half. Lots to consider if hes serious about coming back which with Bell, one never really knows.

I just read that Bell won't report to the team until game 7. Our season may be over by then.
