The fumble is what we remember him for. I take it most fans who know his name feel the same way.
If we are to remove the fumble, Toussiant has a very low 2.2 yards per carry.
I can see Toussiant making the initial 53 man roster pending on Bell's suspension. Then I think he's going to be released. From what I've read and seen Richardson is better.
Against Playoff teams last year, FT averaged 3.3. Not good, really, but better than the 2.2 you use and against playoff teams. Behind an OL which was missing two starters. I'd bet FT, probably, tops out at around 3.5-3.6 ypc.
In preseason, so far, Richardson is averaging a blazing 2.8 ypc while FT is .6 yards better. Richardson has more attempts. Wouldn't that be a better comparison than what Richardson did in 2012 and 2013? Richardson may be getting snaps behind OL lower down the pecking order than FT, but it would also, presumably, be against lower tier D.
In Richardson's last year with the Rams, he had 69 attempts for a longest run of 14 yards. Hardly indicative of someone with a good burst. In more games his longest in 2012 was 53. In 2012, he had 4 runs of 20+. two of those were 40+. In 2013. Zero. Along with never fumbling in the PO's, he has never scored a touchdown in a regular season or PO game.
I don't disagree that the race is close or that Richardson has shown a nice burst. I like them both as a #3., but, again, be a little more open minded.
