Anyone have any clue why Demarcus Ayers has been out the last couple of practices? I've searched with the google, but can't find any reference to him getting injured or any reason he is being held out.

on most of them they at least say what type it is...Hunter is out with a knee injury...Burns a groin injury, Sutton and Shazier out with hamstring injuries....Mitchell a foot/ankle, Adams a shoulder, Jones' abdominal, but nothing has been referenced for Ayers....

I read it somewhere as "undisclosed".

he needs to practice if he wants to make this team. he will not last on the practice squad this year. someone will grab him up.

Coach says they're holding him out because he's too small and his head is too big...

more likely he is so good that they are just holding him back so teams won't clamor after him if he fails to make the roster so they ca hide him on the practice squad again....those ********.....

I'm guessing coach MT has another gut feeling.... would rather practice an injured Sammie Coates

Fatty tumor hanging from his scrote.

vaginal mesh has leaked out. typical of Houston products.

Half the damn team is injured with no word on what or for how long. Ayers needs the practice though if he's going to make the team.

I tweeted Kovacevic to ask what the story is with Ayers.

He liked my tweet....but didn't answer the question (!)

Maybe he isn't injured but is ill?

Hard to tell if they are being overly cautious with guys or if there is reason to be concerned.

Unfortunately I thought I read that he was behind ELI in the PR depth chart.............. DANG

I'll go out on a limb and say Ayers will make the team.

His current injury obviously is minor or we would have known more about it by now. They're likely being cautious with him, like last year when they "redshirted" him until near the end of the regular season. When he finally did play, vs. the Ravens, he looked nothing like a rookie and contributed to the win.

I think Tomlin saw enough then to decide he's too athletic - and ideal to play the slot - to be released.

Ya, that was before Hunter, and Smith-Shuster.

Now you basically have to choose between Hamilton, Coates and Ayers. And frankly although he drives me frickin' nuts, Coates HAS shown he can make some plays if his head is on right. If he can come back and show what he did in the 1st 4 or so games of last season he'd be hard to cut.

I think Coates will be on the IR to return list so it comes down to Hamilton & AYERS and Mr. AYERS doesn't seem to be practicing. I thin AYERS is a better receiver than Hamilton just that Hamilton is practicing and on the field. I'm glad there is no 75 cut down as that definately will help AYERS this year.

Alex Kozora of Steelers Depot says Ayers had a leg injury of some kind but has been moving well the past couple of days and is in the stretch line at today's practice. That tells me they were being cautious with him.

So that's good news. Hopefully he plays this weekend.

Not only plays,......but is very good at the opertunities he gets. It's no secret I would like him to make this team as I constantly pull for the underdog. I just hope with the added presence of Coates that it doen't put to much pressure in AYERS' head to excell. I also hope he is healed and doesn't have a set back.
