Wow, I'm home on a weekday! No softball, no hockey, just time to drink.

I'm currently intermittent fasting, and just finished the WR assessments.

Let's talk Bell, let's talk training camp, let's talk camp battles.

What's up?

I'm currently drinking vodka and seltzer. Lukskawa. My favorite!

Intermittent fasting means I only eat during a 6hr window per day. Some people do 4hrs, and 8hrs is the minimum. I eat every day now, just have meals and alcohol during that window.

what do you think of the Steelers offer to Bell with only 10M guaranteed?

I have The Beetus so I try to eat something every 4-6 hours to keep the blood sugar stable. A few beers, but not too many, actually lowers my blood sugar.

Ricky Bell was a hell of a player that died way too young. He signed an insane 5 year contract for a reported 1.2 million.

Not sure why you want to talk about him, but what are your thoughts Cope?
.

Cope, James Connor has definitely looked the part this offseason in his conditioning. Can he put it all together as a feature back (blocking takes reps, but also want-to and good technique & recognition). Or are the Steelers in need of new talent next draft?

I'm kinda sick of Bell's crap. I want him to be there in camp as a teammate...working with his team.

Do you think that matters, Cope?

Guinness Foreign Extra Stout tonight.

Does it bother you - as much as it bothers me - that the Steelers have been perennial favorites past few years, media darlings, yet have come up miserably short?

We've had some nice seasons, yet under performed badly in the playoffs. So much talk and the potential to be great.. the triple B's et al. I love AB yet Madden covers and incredible stats aside, the man has zero SB rings. LeVeon Bell, best back in football, non-stop talk and bellyaching about multi-million dollar contracts, zero SB wins.

Our defense is a huge question mark, the secondary has nowhere to go but up. Losing Shazier has left a gaping hole in the middle of the scheme and on the field.

Brady & the Patriots have been taking our lunch money for a decade. The loss to the Jags at home was bitter and shocking.

No doubt we have a bunch of high-scoring fantasy football studs on the roster. Great for them and their bank accounts. Do you agree they haven't accomplished jack **** as a group, besides putting up huge stats and looking pretty? Seems to me personal accomplishments are way overstated nowadays, and losing big games have been met with a shrug.

As a team, too few defensive stops, even fewer playoff wins. There's been a lot left to be desired with this group.

Drunk Cope, give me some hope this season will be different. ;)

FIRST OFF, this "ask drunk' Cope" is one of my favorites. So this QUESTION is really off the wall but you said ask anything. I purchased a 2005 Lawnboy Zero turn 38" lawn mower. I'm sure the single previous owner only used is average at most and did fairly good at maintenance during it's life with him. I am very maintenance minded and I too will take very good care of the Unit. My usage is off the charts as 1year with me is like 5 years for normal people. I have a ton of mowing and in rough terrain pastures type grasses. Here is the question " with my superior maintenance / mechanic prowess will this Union last me between 3-5 years??"

Thank You SIR

It's a false offer. Signing bonuses are guaranteed, as long as the player doesn't retire or leave the team before his contract is up. Minimum signing bonus would be around $20M and max would be $30M. So $10M is a false number to get to a 5yr $70M contract.

I just don't believe this report.

IF (intermittent fasting) can help with the beetus as well, though I'd talk to your doctor before trying it. You have type 2 or 1?

I think I was trying to talk about Ricky Williams in another thread. He left football while he was under contract, and the Dolphins wanted him to pay back the prorated portion of his signing bonus. To avoid that, Ricky came back to the league to finish his contract.

I'm not sure. I'm most interested to see how he recovered from knee surgery in full contact games and drills. To be a feature back on this team, you have to be able to protect the passer. Look for his results in backs on backer drills this preseason, that will give us all a good indication how far he's come.

I know he can run with the ball, and he's an adequate receiver, but keeping our QBs upright is what gets you reps.

Guinness Foreign Extra Stout tonight.

Great Guinness. I had the 200th Anniversary stout last week, and my all time favorite Guinness now is the Anwerpen Stout (Made for Belgium). Kind of like a belgian stout!

I've always been on the side of, I'd rather have my stars healthy for the season, and the preseason means nothing. Bell skipped all preseason last year and was healthy all season. I'm fine if he repeats that performance. The only thing that will hurt him, is installing a new offense and not being there for it. If our OC plays to our player's strengths, then it will be less of an issue, if the playbook is complicated, it will be more of an issue.

Keep in mind, last year, our stars only played 1 QTR of preseason football. 1st Qtr of preseason game 3. Tomlin wants his stars healthy, and so do I. Look for Bell to sign his tender on September 3rd. Last year he signed September 4th (which was Monday after the last preseason game). This year that Monday falls on the 3rd.

Who do you think is a better football coach, Al Pacino playing Joe Paterno, or Al Pacino playing the guy from Any Given Sunday

I get frustrated as well, but we are thinking about our team as fanatics. Look at Green Bay. Talent all up and down both sides of the ball, and they haven't sniffed a championship since they beat us in the Superbowl. To tell you the truth, I was way more upset losing 4 AFCC games under Cowher plus a Superbowl. I'm really glad he finally got one, but that was my most frusterating time as a Steeler fan.

Losing Shazier is the reason why we didn't win the SB last year. He was the catalyst, and our only playmaker. He went down, and we stopped making plays. I do like the shift of improving the Safeties. We only have one returning safety, and the rest are more athletic playmakers. I'm excited to see how they will be used, but hopefully the D can make enough plays for the O to win us games.

Brady has been kicking the **** out of the AFC since 2000. Until we break a hip on that old man, he will perform. Also we were one play call from them having to play the JAX in the first round and us getting a bye against the Titans.

I know the JAX loss hurt, but that offense kicked the ever loving **** out of the best D in the league in the playoffs. They wanted to win, they thought they could win, and they played to win, the D just couldn't get a stop. With a better OC, I see this O being more prolific and Ben with a record seasons for TDs.

I'll also tell you one interesting thing we've done on O with the WRs the past 3 years. We've gotten rid of all of our body catching WRs. Coates, Bryant, and Hamilton are gone. Replacing them are hands receivers like JuJu, Washington, Hunter, and Tucker. Even the young WRs like Henderson, Griffey, Patterson, and Jones have good hands. Not to mention Jaylen Samuels, who has great mitts as well. Catching the ball, moves the chains, and gets TDs. That gets me excited.

If you know what you're doing, it should last. You have rough pasture, so make sure the air filter is always clean. Keep the blades nice and sharp to reduce strain on the engine. Lawnmower engines are much easier to repair than cars, but I know zero turns have a lot more moving parts over a push mower. Make sure your plugs are gapped also, and change the oil yearly, and you should be good, but I can't say for sure since I don't know how hard it was ridden in the 13 years before you got it.

I have Paterno on my watch list, just from the previews. He looked just like Joe Pa. But it seems that Paterno is more of a drama while AGS is more of a rah rah football game movie. I may be wrong, but that was the feeling I got.

I'll let you know for sure once I watch Paterno. How did you like it?

I thought this was a fiscal/political question, until I realized you are referring to NFL contracts!

To me it's a fiscal game. I don't get upset at Bell for wanting to be paid, and I won't fault the team for not paying it. You have to be competitive over time, and the Steelers have showed they are just that. Trust me, not paying Bell $70M for the next 5 years will make us a better team over that time, than having him and not being able to fix other problems fiscally.

When Brown was up, you had to break the bank. When Ben was up, back up the truck. Bell is a risk. Drug issues, health issues, and performance question marks. I wish him the best, but is that risk worth $70M? I'm not so sure.

Whats your tonic of choice for your libations?

I love craft beer, and all whiskey (not Canadian as much), and love scotch. The peatier the better!

On my diet, I've dropped my beer intake and given up the American Adjunct style of beer. It's the basic style of American rice lagers (Bud, Coors, Miller, etc). I'm giving up Shandys as well. Just don't do it for me, and next one may be lagers. I'll have them at a brewery if I'm trying a flight, but not from a store anymore. Besides, when I drink this style, I end up drinking 5-10 of them. Keep me with better beers, and I only have 1-2.

So now my libation of choice is Vodka over ice, with fresh squeezed lemon or lime, and a flavored seltzer water. Been drinking a ton of Bubly since I get them from work. Good seltzer. The apple is my favorite and tastes like a green apple, slightly sour. Last night I was out of citrus, so I muddled blueberries in the drink for the wife an myself. The daughter was feeling left out, so I made her a seltzer only with muddled blueberries.

Could always hit up a White Russian too, you already have the vodka out!
