Aloha Nation!

I'm back from 3 weeks in Hawaii, enjoying the best of the Big Island, Maui, and Oahu. I snorkeled, night dove with mantas, watched a sunset above the clouds on Haleakala, swam in white, green, black, salt and pepper, and regular colored sand. Saw a humpback fully breach, drank amazing beers from Kona, Maui, Ola, and many microbrews on Oahu.

Did Pearl Harbor for a day, a Luau at night, celebrated my daughter's 7th birthday, hiked Diamond head Crater, drove completely around all 3 islands, and went out after watching the Super Bowl, and we still had 2hrs of daylight!

What a great time, I'm recharged, and ready to get beaten down by another year of work.

Free agency is coming up soon, draft is approaching, and the CBA may get done.

What's on your mind tonight?

I'm finishing up some work and will be back on at 8ish. Cheers!

How much will the last year of CBA impact the team in free agency?

would you trade our 3rd rd comp pick to the Jets for LB? get LB back for cheaper $$ than we offered him

Grats on the fantastic vacation, Cope.

What do you think of Cushenberry in the 2nd round?

I'm all for big athletic centers. We need a transition for Pouncey since he's starting to wane. I'm not sure if I'd go center with the first pick. I'd like to see a first rounder that dropped in our first pick spot.

Agreeing on a CBA would be huge for us. It allows the Steelers to use the post June 1st cut rule. Right now we don't have it. That would be the biggest help to the Steelers and the cap this year. It may be why the Steelers are waiting on cuts, to see if they can get that benefit and spread their losses across 2 years instead of this one.

Also getting rid of that 30% rule would help out significantly in restructuring deals to create much needed space.

Interesting thought, but he's still on a signed contract, and would have to agree to a cut if he was going to play for less. I don't think the Steelers would ever want him back. He sat out a year out, you don't reward guys like that by bringing them back. Plus he'd kill the Steelers cap space.

IMHO:

Defense is Edmunds. He has to get better at watching the receivers and their patterns, and stop staring at the QB. He's fast, but it's causing him to miss steps and arrive late to the catch points. He's the biggest problem currently, but he does have the tools to became a great safety. This is the year to really watch his play.

Offense, on the line, I'd have to say Pouncey was the biggest dissapointment. He's really athletic and can get to the second level better than anyone, but his snaps were terrible last year. If he can't correct that, it doesn't matter who's at QB. Mostly injuries were the biggest cause for concern on offense last year though. Top 3 RBs, JuJu, Vance, Ben, Rudolph, Nix, Pouncey, all missed starts this past year. A healthy offense is a productive offense.

Edit: Our worst offensive player by far was Moncrief, and it was good the Steelers parted ways with him.

Yes, in the 8th grade. A girl twice the size of me wanted to fight me. I didn't even know her. I was the new kid, so I was a target. She chased me the whole way home hitting me the whole time in the face. I was raised not to hit women, so I didn't raise my hands to her.

Got in another fight a few weeks later with a boy the same size. I kicked his ***. He wanted to know why I fought back. I said he wasn't a girl.

Never got messed with again...

What is the Steelers biggest offensive need?

Hands down, Tight End. It's why I think the Steelers will ultimately hold on to McDonald.
Other needs would be guard, and a slot receiver. Luxuries would be another X receiver and RB depth.

A man can dream for a new ST coach or OC, but that ain't happening. Steelers don't make coaching changes unless there is an illness or death. They like to set their staff for the draft, take their input in drafting players they will be coaching directly, then allow them to coach the entire year.

The MLB players' union will never go for a salary cap but if they insist on a salary floor, would Bob Nutting finally sell the Pirates?

Jordan Reed just was cut, he would look good in Black n Gold?

who is the one Steeler you feel is the most important to replace

Howdy Cope and did you miss us working stiffs (not stiffies).?

1). We are working on a remodel and have to work in this super bad crawl space, I'm talking 11/2 ft height and grungier than the Browns fan that said he wasn't showering until his team won a playoff game. HOW many man hours will it take my smaller journeyman plumber employee to pipe out the 1 tub / 1 stool / 1 lava / 1 kitchen / 1 wash machine / 1 floor drain, I'm talking just the PVC drains with proper venting?

2). If we did get lucky enough for TOMLIN to say ****-it, I need a new STs coach, who would he hire?

3). Does Mt. Rushmore have a secret set of stairs on the back side to assist in maintenance ?

4). Who do we target in the later rounds 5 / 6 / 7

Thanks Cope and real glad about5 your vacation.

Salute the nation

I can only hope so. He's reaping the benefits of being a doormat and taking money sharing he didn't earn. We'll call it MLB Welfare...

Welcome back. Did you spend any time in the parking lot of the Cheesecake Factory?

I didn't see one when I was in the islands. Too busy hiking, driving, swimming, and drinking... Though I did spend a night in the Walmart lot in my RV....

sorry for not being clear. we would get him for cheaper than we offered him in 2018.

I understand, but you have to account for his current salary under the cap. It comes down to who would you rather have? Bell or Bud?

I take Bud. I like our top 3 running back and our 4th looks like a burner on ST and out of the backfield!

Not going to lie, I love JR's talent and he's had some great years here in the DC area (where I live). But those of you who think Vance missing 3 games in the past 2 years as injury prone, would not like Reed missing 13 games the past 2 seasons. Right now I like Vance better.
