By Jessica Costello SteelerNation.com Over the span of 14 months, Artie Burns went from the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ go-to cornerback, to having to prove himself for a roster spot. Something that was so far off Mike Tomlin‘s radar, he never even entertained the thought. “I didn’t know that he was in adversity,” Tomlin said. But on […]

Artie has an INT already. I'm still hopeful...

What we, the fans, need to take into consideration is 'how much he's taken on since joining the league'. He's an older brother playing the role of mom and dad---not sure if he has any kids of his own and lest we forget, uprooting his family and moving them from Florida to Pittsburgh is no small feat.

I'm not making excuses for his poor play - I just think there are some underlying issues that may have contributed to Burns being burnt so often as of late.

Just my two cents...

I'm sure everyone has a story and I'm sure he's a great young man. You're only as strong as your weakest link on a team.

I'm for one am glad they are taking a look at him. AS Said in other threads, he is worth the risk of $800Gs to see if what he's got can come out to play. If for some chance he regained near form and made a great #3 or even push others harder, then he. Is well worth that roster bonus. If not, then it was a cheap experiment. I'm rooting for him to one of the best ability players thus making the final 53. DON'T keep him on potential as that ship has sailed so either prove it or lose it.

Salute the nation

His story is why every Steeler fan should want him to succeed. I feel for him, especially off the field.

On the field it is a business and you are either helping your team succeed or you are left by the waist side.

I mean Burns and Boz both players frustrated the Nation no doubt. And both face possible exits.

Both fates could easily go either way. And of course I want both to succeed. And knowing Burns past it isn't hard for that want to be more.

I think so far he has given himself a fighting chance. Preseason will reveal all for both.

This offseason has been getting rid of drama, watching two mysteries unfold, watching depth improve.

All that and we haven't watched our first preseason.

This is going to be a fun year to watch, injuries withstanding.

Fixed it for you

Its a business and if you are looking to get paid, you will be left by the wayside, to make room for BUMS to get overpaid like Boswell, Burns, Bud, Eli Rodgers. and most of all Tomlin.

The Steeler way, Money over winning.
Chew em up and spit em out like they did with Troy, Hines etc

You need to be medicated...

The only excuse is that Tombert can't draft and develop DB's. Why should Burns be different that numerous other Tombert draft picks? Clearly not his fault.
