Anyone catch how well the Chiefs took Gronk away?

Who do we have that can do what Justin Houston did last night? KC is a very talented team, just because they beat the *pats, doesn't mean every team can.

KC played all NE receivers physically, not just Gronk. Anyone coming across the middle got crushed. Amandola got stuck, Hogan got stuck... we can do that playing 7-10 yard cushions. KC has better coaching that put a plan together to attack NE's strengths, we'll just keep doing the same **** and hoping for a different result.

And even if we beat them when they come to Heinz, it won't mean **** until we beat them in the playoffs.

Dupree can do that if he takes the next step like the coaching staff is expecting.

As for "we'll just keep doing the same ****..." comment. What part of this offseason was the same ****? This year has a completely different vibe to it, if you can't see that I feel bad for you.

Gronk is injury prone. When he's on his game, he's pretty dominant, but put a little stinger or two on him and he runs more cautious

Big guys like Gronk need to get hit and beat up all game to be neutralized. If we dont hit him early and often , he will get his way. I dont know if we have the personnel to kick his *** every play.

Isn't it interesting that KC defensive strategy in the 2nd half was pure zone rush 3 DL with the occasional 4th rusher on a blitz. Dropped 8 in to coverage....and were successful stonewalling Marcia.

If you have the players....

I agree, but i think he got banged up on that diving td attempt. He got up slow, kinda backed off teammates And did a half *** spike.

Yes good point he did get up slow. Berry is out for the season.

Anyone talking about what a shifty coach bellicheat is for letting a rookie rb run all overy his d?

wait until he cheats some new signals he will show you

all of a sudden miraculously all those glaring deficiencies will disappear

and presto magico he will be the this great coach again

in doubt? the media will tell you

watch for it

To me Davis is the best match up on him with a single high safety over the top.

The key is almost 3-levels of coverage on Gronk. You can jam him at the line with a physical linebacker like Shazier that is strong enough to have hand-to-hand combat with a 270 lbs. guy and still get back into an underneath zone coverage (to cover those pesky little crossing plays New England likes to run). Then you hand him off to the under-safety like Davis for man-to-man coverage. Someone that is long and can run. And then just in case those two levels don't work you still have a deep safety that can bracket him over the top and come downhill on any play into the seems.

To me that's the way you play them. And your outside corners have to be good enough to play multiple schemes (and disguise them)..... either bump man, off-man, tight zone or off-zone. You have to make your coverages as confusing as possible up until the last second because New England's entire pass offense is predicated on Brady AND the receiver reading the same thing and deciding the route at the line of scrimmage. You are not just playing against Brady and his mind, you have to mess with the receivers' heads too. There can be no "keys" to your coverage based on where you middle linebackers are or where you strong safety sits. No keys.

This point of view is valid. I remember following the '05 divisional game vs Manning and the Colts, Joey Porter saying something to the effect of they were going to show some thing and hold it and wait and wait and hold it some more and then shift when they knew the omahas and audibles were done and the snap was imminent.

Berry is one of the best in the game, We do not have a player like that to cover Gronk.

Do you think we'll even win a game??? Man stop, while we may not have a Pro Bowl safety to cover him - we have "more options" now that the secondary has improved parts. I'd bet that we can send more pressure packages now that we have DB's that can press and cover---just like KC (when they did rush Marsha)...

If they're 7-8 when we play them it won't matter...:der:

This may be easier said than done. I have noticed that in the last several years, the 'keys' have either been made more evident or offenses have found a master key to open all defenses based on the identified " tip " that the NT, middle backer and safety project. We even give Foster a role in identifying the blocking while Ben looks at the set. They see something, relay that verbally and change to options available in that formation.

Pretty tough to disguise unless someone can invent a whole new scheme, It's been done many times before, 3/4 zone blitz and '56' are probably the most recognized but how many times can they reinvent the wheel ?

LOL...after some thought, I remembered Troy running 30 yards to a completely different location at the snap of the ball. Now that's tough to plan for.

So, you want Butler to put our punter on Gronk ?

Bring in another LB and leave Shazier on Gronk.
