Brown semi finalist for Madden 16 cover

Steelers All-Pro WR Antonio Brown is among the four players nominated for the final fan vote to determine who will appear on the cover of the Madden 16 video game set to be released later this summer. Brown is joined by Odell Beckham Jr., Patrick Peterson and Rob Gronkowski as semifinalists for the honor.

Voting began today with fans able to cast their ballots via the EA Sports website or social media and the winner will be announced May 13, 2015 on the 6 p.m. edition of Sportscenter on ESPN. Brown would be the second Steelers player to ever grace the cover, with Troy Polamalu securing that honor in 2010.

Of course, many Steelers fans probably aren’t too excited with the prospect of the three-time Pro Bowl selection gracing the cover, especially with the notorious Madden Curse looming. Many athletes who have appeared on the cover of Madden, nearly all of whom experienced injuries, a statistical decline, or saw their careers end prematurely. Richard Sherman of the Seahawks, last year’s Madden cover athlete, looked to have broken the “Madden Curse” after submitting another All-Pro season and nearly another Super Bowl win. Seattle, however, lost the Super Bowl on the last play in one of the most confusing and ill-timed plays in the history of the sport, leading many to conclude the curse had laid dormant until Sherman’s final game that season.

Brown has back-to-back seasons of over 100 catches and near 1,500 receiving yards and his interesting on-field persona and fan interaction will certainly make him a popular choice to appear on the cover.

I hope to Hell he says no so we can avoid the Madden Curse.

With Gronk and Beckham in the mix, with how popular they are, I'm not even worried about it.. he won't get it

OBJ will get it with his catch on the cover.

After thinking about it, I just realized I haven't bought a Madden game since 2005, which I think was the 2006 edition. EA is such a garbage company and the Madden franchise has been totally run into the ground. I seriously don't miss plunking down $50-$60 for their yearly roster updates and their gameplay breaking glitches that always crop up.

I don't care what people say madden on the pc was the best. You could mod it plus the controls seemed more fluid. I played defense as a DB and was able to stay with Wrs. It's really difficult to do that on consoles due to camera and bulky controls

Showing age here but Madden 93 was the best..... simpler, easier, more fun. It's gotten worse each year -- Like Spike said I don't know anyone anymore who still plays it

Beckham's catch would be a nice cover, but I would have to vote for Gronk for jinx purposes.

I always preferred Tecmo Super Bowl. It had all the teams, players, and 8 plays that you could swap in and out. Great game!

I'm not worried about Gronk. One bad hit and he's out for the season anyway. He has brittle bones...

Cool, we can all breath a sigh of relief... ;)

Either New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. or New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski will grace the cover of Madden NFL 16 after EA Sports announced the two as finalists for the coveted honor Tuesday.

I've played Madden every year since it came out in '89. It's my only vice...

@Steel G & Jitter - I suggest getting the PS4 - this upcoming Madden will be like no other - totally Gen-4 graphics and such...CAN'T WAIT!!!

My work is done - the youngsters will ensure that OBJ graces the cover...

Put them both on there and have brady* on the cover of the book with the cheat codes.
