Don't know much about this guy either...

Looks like a high try guy with some athleticism, but not enough to make it as a legit 4-3 DE in the NFL. In that video, his playing weight looks above 270 so maybe dropping the weight and switching to 3-4 OLB will allow him to have some success where he had minimal amounts before.

Meh I remember his name from recruiting sites a while back... and not much since then so im saying he is probably roster fodder with potential

Strengths
- Four-year starter for Hurricanes
- Versatile along the defensive line
- Plays with consistency at every position
- Able to generate good leverage at POA
- Strong hands allows him to create leverage/separation
- Above-average at reading the run; plus feel against the run
- Stays square to the line
- Very balanced for size
- Held his own in one-on-one matchups with Pitt’s TJ Clemmings

Weaknesses
- Pass rush stalls out far too often
- Doesn’t appear to be very explosive on tape
- Fails to get to the edge when rushing the passer
- Has to add thickness to lower body to withstand rigors of NFL
- Easily dispatched when double-teamed
- Tends to tangle with opponent for too long at the line
- Failed to live up to 5-star billing while with Hurricanes

Chickillo will be the latest DL to OLB conversion, Porter said for sure they will stand him up. But they won't have him dropping back, just going forward. Sounds like a situational pass rusher to start. I love how they've been adding to the D up and down the draft.

Steelers selected Miami OLB Anthony Chickillo with the No. 212 overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft.
Chickillo (6'3/267) made 47 starts for Miami, piling up 25 tackles for loss, 15.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. He shined at the Combine, running 4.79 with a 7.17 three-cone time, one of the best by a defensive lineman. Miscast as a block-occupying 3-4 end at Miami, Chickillo turned heads at the East-West Shrine Game, where he was allowed to rush off the edge. Although Chickillo isn't a truly explosive rusher, he has long arms (33 1/2") and big hands (10 1/8") and will likely stand up in a designated pass rushing role.

Anthony Chickillo, Defensive End, Miami 6’3 267 LBS — Nobody can ignore the impact and the spark that Pernell McPhee providing. We also understand that the Ravens could not break the bank to keep him and we all wish him luck in Chicago. But you need another impact guy coming off the edge now who can also be molded for future dominance. Chickillo has an elite worth ethic and one of those JJ Watt level motors. He has impressed in his workouts and will be an absolute steal in this draft.

Chickillo doesn’t have ideal size for either a 3-4 DE or a 4-3 DT but his talent cannot be ignored and that’s why I am putting him on this list. He’s a tough, versatile player that is quick off the ball and has the ability to be disruptive. I love his effort and his style of play and I see his best days ahead of him.

Meh, if its a Willie parker situation, where the use of the player affected his production then so be it. its a sixth rounder... he was drafted to be cut anyhow... if there is positives, great, if not its worth the gamble, I guess

Not much talent at outside linebacker. I'm glad we took two.

enough outside LBer question marks to bring in 2............

At worst, he's a decent practice squad player. I think he probably is the least likely of the picks to make the final roster, as I think the other 7 all will. I think the five "starters" Black and Gold listed are locks, as are Dupree and Williams. That leaves 1-2 more spots for the 53 man roster. My wild guess is Lemon and possibly HoJo. I'd try to trade Spence.

Competition, baby! Let them all fight it out. Could be a practice squad guy for a year but you never know.

I didn't see him beat an offensive lineman the entire game, though he was singled pretty much every play. He was unblocked once, but that is not what the Steelers need in terms of a player able to beat blockers and rush the passer to the point that opponents have to game-plan and double-team to address the pass rush, opening up opportunities for other defenders.

I am not ragging on the guy, but I would be more optimistic about the pick if he could beat a college tackle in a 1-on-1 battle.

That's when he was an undersized DE on college and miscast. He'll be converted to a 3/4 OLB and groomed in the Steelers system where the hope is he'll develop and be a better fit.

i love the Chickillo pick. This guy is a hustler. He has the potential to be an in-shape Woodley, a bull rusher who can play the run. If Chickillo develops, he can play over the TE and Dupree can use his speed on the weak side.

This guy was used as a 5-tech at Miami, which was a terrible miscast. As soon as he got to the senior bowl he played as a 4-3 rush end and showed he was a relentless pass rusher and was nearly unblockable. I really liked Chickillo as a OLB prospect I am just pleasantly surprised the Steelers did too. People are going to like this guy.

Like Greg Lloyd and James Harrison wouldn't make the team.

They actually cut Harrison and so did the Ravens, the man is a great success story. The rewards for determination are good.

He has a great knack for getting his shoulder under the offensive tackle then spotting the ball.. great first step... very interesting pick he's as tough as nails too boot... should be a good value pick

I suspect our two draft picks will make the team. Joey said 8 guys at outside linebacker team will keep 4 or 5. Harrison might be in his last year, he will only be a situational guy at this point.
This years outside backers
Harrison Motes Jarvis Bud Chickillo or one of the other guys with Chickillo going to the practice squad.

Joey made some comments about where Jarvis is and what he needs to do. Jarvis might become a cut down this year if one of the free agents or practice squad guys step up. There is also the possibility that they keep one extra since James will be likely finished at the end of this season.

This guy is an amazing athlete

interesting factoid:

Chickillo’s fastest 10 yd split equalled Vic Beasley’s, who has been lauded for his burst and athleticism throughout the process.

This guys is based by me. I'm a bit of a Univ of Miami fan, mostly because a friend of mine is an active alumni donator with an " in ". I have seen him play live and on TV. Here's what you should know!

Chickillio was a 5 start athlete recruit from high school with bloodlines for football. The entire UM Defense was sabotaged by stupid coaching.

Chickillio has a big time motor. He's strong for his size, and has some movement skills. As a pass rusher I felt he had a good first step, but his 2nd, and 3rd steps were rather pedestrian.

With good coaching we could have a player here. If they try him at OLB, I'd like to see him lose 15 pounds.. If he's a 3-4 End, I think he needs to add 20 pounds.
