This looks rather fishy when you watch the video breakdown. The markers are lined up exactly 10 yards on 1st down but the sideline official decides to move the first down marker back 1 yard on 2nd down so the Cowboys have to gain an extra yard for a first down. In the redzone, that is not insignificant.
The argument in the article is basically that the ball should have been originally spotted at the 14 but was actually spotted more like the 15 so the sideline official was adjusting the error of the original spot...however this still means 11 yards were needed to gain a 1st down. Cowboys ended up kicking a FG on the drive btw.
Always some kind of shenanigans going on in Gillette.
