And so it begins! Cam Heyward restructures.

Not sure I get that one. So you are saying they let those guys walk because of cap restrictions from covid? They franchised Dupree. He was not coming back. He bet on himself. They never allowed players they liked to get to UFA in the past. They would normally have signed Juju prior to camp last year for sure. Instead they drafted his replacement.
I am saying Covid impacted what they would normally have available. So in the end one or two can be impacted by not being resigned. They draft a WR in most years so not going to lock into Chase being drafted to be JuJu's replacement. Hell with Washington not being the deep threat desired he could have been just as easily drafted as a result of that. The Steelers also eluded to that this year is more difficult than years past. So we might think this or that but we also know that this team more than others likes to keep its own. I can see the argument for Bud being elsewhere regardless but the team hasn't even ruled out his return. So yeah Covid this year is handicapping the team.

next year we have Minkah and TJ as FAs
that $150 mil could be gone quickly.
Steelers back
load their contracts. I am sure it will impact them but how much initially remains to be seen. Maybe not to the point it is all gobbled up at once. Maybe after they resign and the draft and free agency. Sup pretty much business as usual.

Tuitt I read a month ago will restructure same time as cam Will restructure as well that just leaves Ben and maybe Ebron and Haden could be extending another to lower this year's cap hit is aging but crafty vet so way Jarvis would have been able to do whatever he wanted as well Diggs and Simms in the Washington game as when Sutton replaced Haden Sutton could not hang in there. Can ask Vince to take a pay cut to convert into performance bonus aka games played and total tackles and bonus for TFL and sacks. I like Spillane but Vince brings a certain intensity and is a much better Blitzer. I am going to start looking at some late to mid rnd ILB that are 3 down who run in the 4.4-4.5 range to play next to Bush if Vince is cut. and Spillane is a 2 down in coverage he cant hang with the afc north TE's
Huh? Haden played in the WFT game all the way till the mid of the 4th, when he got hurt on a tackle. Layne replaced him, not Sutton. He stayed inside. Joe missed the BUF game with Sutton starting for him. But again he went to the slot on passing downs and Layne took over the outside. Haden played the next two games until he got COVID-19, and missed the Stains game (both of them).

Agree Bince is > than Spillane, but he’s got to take a pay cut to stay.

I like Bince but is he better as he gets another year older? Sure at the right price I would keep him but not for much.

fully agree vince has to take a pay cut to return, and who ever in the buffalo game was on Diggs got torched, he should of been doubled.

I just don't know how you can get an ILB that plays 3 downs and runs in the 4.4/4.5 in the middle / late rounds of the draft

So basically you salary cap gloom and doomers, we have about one more contract probably Tuitt's to tweak and they will be salary sap complient.

I hear you on the gloom and doom'ers, I HAVE FAITH IN THE CAP Management department of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Yup, Steelers still have to fill that roster the following year. with that money, they are signing whoever they want, including a possible vet stud QB.

Brady, Brees, Mariota are a few. Darnold...

JEEPERS, Justine would have to get a whole new server set up because if they signed t*mmyb*y next year, this place would instantly melt.

option year? he's listed as not having a pay rate in 2022.

I just bought a new F-150 I totally cannot afford. Put 40K on my Credit Line and 37K on my Mortgage. Time to celebrate!!!! Wait a minute. I didn't cause I'm money smart.
I once had a guy tell me that he couldn’t afford to participate in the company’s retirement plan two weeks after he told me he bought a $50k Jeep. His job title: Director of Finance

that's $50k down the drain, if you ask me.

This will be his 4th season, we can exercise his 5th year option like we did with Bud for 2022 if we wanted, but he'll get a new deal.

another Wolverine Cam Mcgrone runs in the 4.3-4.r range and is expected to go anywhere between rnd 3-4, you draft a lb like him and you will have 2 extremely versatile ILB.

Dupree would've been here long term had he shown more in years 1, 2, 3, and 4, he played just well enough in his 4th season (only had 5.5 sacks) that paying him the 5th year option wasn't a big deal, but not nearly well enough to give a big pay day to. Then he had his best year in year 5 and was a free agent, there were several teams with alot more cap space that could've over paid for him if we let him hit the open market and we wouldn't be able to compete.
I love JuJu, but what is he great at? They don't usually give WR's a second deal, unless they're excellent, AB and Ward are the only ones that come to mind that got a 2nd contract.

Man lets get through 2021...

This will keep Tomlin here until he is 70 and will put a lot of never lost 9 games on the wall.

That's solid gold planning there.
