How does this player sound?

As a cornerback, he had 10 interceptions in the last two season, 16 for his college career.

He ran a 4.32 forty yard dash and had adequate height at 5'10" tall.

His name? Parry Nickerson

Will check out his clips. Could he be worth our 2nd or 3rd round pick as a ball hawk free safety, or corner?

I wouldn’t call him off the radar. He’s likely a solid 3rd round pick and turned some heads with his combine performance. But at 5-10 182lbs and small hands I feel he’s probably a nickel back in the NFL. Ceiling Mike Hilton Floor Sequez Golson

All the speed you could want. Decent height at 6'-0". And for his weight, he still put up 15 reps. So he is pretty strong. I could see them target someone like him.

The link I posted said he's 6 feet tall. I don't care about small hands if the DB can catch, which this guy sure as heck can. If Bates and Reid are off the board by our turn in round two, I have a hunch Nickerson can make a heck of a free safety.

That height, speed, and playmaking ability is very rate. Granted the completion level is a concern. Film can show how many plays he made that most would not.

Some of the player prognosticators, while have lauded his speed and hand use, they also say his future as a DB would be limited because of his size. He also had a severe left knee injury as a freshman which was potentially career ending. He had surgery, but according to some club evaluators his long term playing outlook is in question because of the same injury and wear and tear that occurs in the NFL. He's a good risk though. Wish we could have seen his full workout at the combine. specifically his 3 cone and vertical numbers. But that tweaked hammy after his 40 prevented. it. Most are projecting him a late rounder. He's a luxury pick, but he has some value.

I don’t think he’s Safety material. I wouldn’t want to see him trying to come down and play the box. I think slot or dime sub-package kind of DB. I’d more intrigued to move Brian Allen to safety as he has the size and looked good making tackles at least as a gunner on special teams.

I also believe CB is an underrated need of the Steelers. Haden will be 29 in a few weeks and is on year two of his three year contract. Artie Burns regressed his Sophomore campaign, and has a club option coming up in a year, and I am not sold on Sutton as anything more than a utility CB.

I think it’s a solid group but by no means do we have a sure fire shutdown #1 CB.

The link I posted said he's 6 feet tall. Okay, maybe's he's 5'10. I'll trust the NFL combine link.

That height, speed, and playmaking ability is rare. Granted the completion level is a concern. Film can show how many plays he made that most would not. So I just watched the some of it.

I like how he tracks a ball and catches it. He closes quickly when the ball is in the air. And he has speed to run with anyone. Things I like from a free safety.

And since some of these plays are vs. Houston, maybe Coolie can give him a thumbs up as a player.

If your an outside corner, I agree you need some height and length to defend against specific routes. However, if we are talking safety, Ed Reed was 5'11" tall. Polamalu even with his rather large head so I'm told :) was under 5'11" tall. A more modern example, Earl Thomas, 5'11" tall.

I'm okay with a little short at safety IF the guy has good speed, hands, and instincts. Nickerson fits!

The injury happened in 2013. A long time ago, and apparently didn't cost him any speed. I say four seasons ( 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 ) of missing just one game or zero games shows he's durable enough.

From what I've seen he's not an impactful hitter, but the way the NFL is going, I'll take a ball hawk with speed over a knock you out type of safety. Warming up to this guy as a round two pick, depending on who is on the board. Its been a while since the Steelers had a good straight man coverage or cover 3 type of safety.

I’m not sure I can think of a NFL safety that’s 5-10 180lbs. Earl Thomas is a smaller safety and he even goes 200+.

The same guy who wants us to draft a guy as high as 2nd, who compares to Tavon Young in that link provided.

Stop stealing my material!

Yes, I think the guy I mentioned will be off the board before round four. I'd love him in round three, and if the top safeties are reaches in round one and off the board in round two, I will consider this player for round two. Keyword consider.

He's not a work out wonder type; the production is outstanding. You can deny that.

You’re Coolie-type retarded.

As stated by others Richardson is 5’10 182 lbs. He couldn’t stand up to being a safety. Free or Strong. You are also delusional to think he’s a 2nd rounder regardless who is on the board, when most all prognosticators, while noting his stock is rising, has him at a 5th or 6th rounder.

I said his injury occurred when he was a freshman. Had the knee procedure at Tulane and returned to play the following year. What has been commented on is that some team evaluators questioning his life expectancy as a player in the league because of that previous knee injury and his continuous play. More or less a possible degenerative condition from the surgery repair of his knee.

Steelers use interchangeable coverage/box players as safeties anyway. If this guy doesn’t tackle, as you say, he’s isn’t safety material in this defense.

5-6th round? Not with those work out numbers and game production. Yes, his stock is rising. Draft websites are often tardy. I would be surprised Parry Nickerson ( not Richardson ) is not off the board by the end of round four, and think he's a 3rd round guy.

If we do not draft a DB in round one or two, I'm fine picking Nickerson in round three ( unless a round two target guy falls )

I can see Nickerson being a good slot corner or deep safety in the nickel. There is no rule that says he can't add 10 pounds either. His strength on the bench at 15 reps of 225 was good.

S. Golson was even shorter, lighter, and much slower, and the Steelers took him in round two! While I did not like that pick at all, I do think Nickerson can help us.

I said he doesn't look like an impactful hitter. I did not say he can't tackle his man or lets guys escape his grasp.

NFL Media’s Lance Zierlein believes it will be difficult to find “a more competitive CB with better ball skills” than Tulane CB Parry Nickerson.
