Alex Mack opts out of contract

I would love that move, but we know they won't make a big move like that.
 
I'd love that move. Other than hurting Pouncey's feelings (and **** his feelings) if you knew he could play guard that would be a brilliant move. Its kust a question of how much Mack wants. You will be paying Pouncey anyhow and you will need to pay a guard anyhow. Mack as a centre can't be breaking the bank.
 
So you guys want to:

1.) Move Pouncey to Guard, a role he hasnt played since his freshman year at Florida?

2.) Replace him with a lesser talented Center?

My understanding is a quality center can almost always make for a quality OG. As for the above, is Mack a lesser OC than MP? One could assume so but that doesn't make it so. I think the OL of

Villa, MP, Mack, DD, Gilbert > Villa, Foster (or worse), MP, DD Gilbert

I think the former OL listed would be pretty gnarly.
 
Pretty sure we've used Pouncey at LG before when our OL was decimated by injuries, can't remember if it was just an in game move or if he stayed there for a couple/few games.

Or flip it around and plug in Mack at LG. Doesn't really matter. Mack-Pouncey-DeCastro would be the best interior line in the NFL imo.
 
you are all fixed on how he would fit with Pouncey and you are forgetting that he will command top $ on FA, don't expect a long contract about less than 8M a year, for that kind of money I rather get a frigging starting CB or offer Beachum a 20M 3 years contract

Absolutely. Would be a dope line.

But centers generally make more than guards, and I expect Mack to want center $$$. Just dont think its worth having that much money tied up in the interior line.

Mack will go to Jacksonville. He was on his way there until the Clowns matched.

Pouncey can play anywhere he damn-well pleases...if he could keep his teammates from falling on his legs...

Dude played guard, center AND defensive tackle at Florida.

Freshman year? I thought he played guard so that Mike Pouncey could play center his last year?
 
IF I remember correctly his brother played guard until our pouncy came out early and mike switched to center for his senior season and had a lot of bad snaps early....Also ,Mack turned down 9 million dollar option to stay with browns and wants more and he may even resign with them if the price is right..

Sorry Litos, I think you have Beachum a bit overvalued for us. I don't know the number but a STEELERS Offer in the 5-6 is what they will shoot his way.. Obviously he sure well could get a better offer, but I think thats what PITT offers him.

Pipe dream yes, but if Mack did somehow make it here, YOU definately put pouncy at guard and Mack at Center.

Arby is correct, Mike was a guard until his senior year. However, we did stick Maurkice at LG for a game or two when our line was destroyed by injury. Colon was hurt and Legursky played center and Maurkice was moved to guard.
 
When there are injuries on the line you generally don't move your center to fill another position.
I don't remember Pouncey playing another position.

Maurkice left Florida a year early. That's when Mike was moved from G to C...

I think it was only part of a game rather than something extended. I'm sure I remember it happening, though.
 
Hell with it, move Pouncey to Guard. He'd have less of a chance of someone rolling up on him from both sides.

He needs to take a hometown discount IMO the guy hasn't played much and was still getting paid. Not his fault, but that's reality.
