The NFL released their list of finalists for the Hall of Fame Class of 2018 on Tuesday night. That list included former guard Alan Faneca who makes it as a finalist for the third year in a row. Faneca spent ten years in Pittsburgh after being drafted in the first round in 1998. Faneca was […]

Heinz will get in soon but it's hard to argue as who's in front of him for WRs.

John Lynch?.......seriously? Donnie Shell was 10 times the player he was.

Faneca is possibly the best OG ever, but it took Dawson how many tries to get in?
Ward should get in, especially when you look at who he had at QB for the prime of his career, and he was on a run first team with aHOF RB

Personally I would rather see Hines make it over Alan.

I think he was the better overall player.

Good for him.

Does he go in as a Yet?

Go big Red #66!

Problem is Donny is low profile currently and johny is a higher profile currently.................PLUS the quantity of STEELERS in the HOF of that era. T^he voters are voting the steeler player against the other steelers players instead of the players at that time.

Hines

Not just for fries.....................................also for HOF's

I sent Ed Bouchette a case for Donnie Shell as he's got the hall of fame vote for Pittsburgh, and can present players to the voters.

Shell was in many ways a prototype of a strong safety. He's got 51 interceptions and 19 fumble recoveries. That's 70 turnovers. Who in the NFL has more and isn't in the hall of fame?

Shell wasn't just a turnover machine; he was perhaps the Steelers hardest hitter in a pound for pound sense. He hit hard enough to break Earl Campbell's ribs.

Maybe one day he'll get in as old-timers pick.

Only knock against Faneca right now is the amount of linemen that made the finals - Boselli, Hutchinson, Jacoby, and Mawae. Faneca does have more All-Pro votes than them though.

Faneca was viewed as the best guard in his playing days. Better than Hutchinson. Neither Jacoby or Mawae strike me as hall of fame players.

Boselli was one of the greats, but he played on a off the radar type of team, and had his career cut short due to injuries.

I think Faneca is the top of the OL class. the question is does being a guard hurt his chances?

Coach I'm totally for Shell being inducted I just gave some reasoning as to why he isn't. I don't agree with the reasoning either but unfortunately that is the way it is.

I would like to ask how many HOFer;s the cheatriots will be inducting over their 15 years of dominance y. NOT very many as they have a cheating system. BIG difference in the two dynasties as ONE played legitimately with great players and the other played underhandidly and won with medium players............HUGE difference and the # of HOFers indicate the underhandedness.

Two... Brady and Gronk. That's it

The Pro Football Hall of Fame doesn't identify inductees as team members. You go in as a player, then they list the teams for which you played...that's all.

A little Some feel there are too many Steelers in the hall of fame, others feel he benefited from an excellent front seven. But I think Shell's biggest problem is he was never a big time name like Lambert, Greene, Ham or Blount.

When it comes to the hall of fame, each man should be his own case, and Shell was perhaps the 1st or 2nd best safety in his time, and certainly has hall of fame numbers!

I was referring to Faneca, but that also hurts Shell, plus the guys in the front 7, but he should be in there.

By comparison, Ed Reed who will probably be first ballot, has 77 INT's +fumble recoveries combined in a passing league.

Great point. And Troy who should be a first ballot HOF guy has 56 combined turnovers.
