Above all else

They are gonna shock everyone and come out with a 6-2 stack monster defense.

It might stress you out but a score is a score. Even look at the pre-season. Did they give up the big play against Buffalo in the first half? Absolutely. Were they right in the middle of that game at half? Completely. Hell they could have been leading. Then in the second half they just kept shooting themselves in the foot on offense and got blown out. Risk reward defense. Safe will keep this team out of the playoffs.

But giving a 4th for Boykin would mean that the guy was part of the starting team making him a valuable asset. Look at our CB picks on 3rd and 4th rounds Crezdon Butler, Curtis Brown, Cortez Allen, Grant (who didn´t make the roster), put Shamarko in there too. I wouldn't mind losing a 4th for a starting vet at a critical position

They might as well just trade draft picks for defensive veterans because they don't do very well with their own draft picks. Obviously, if you will.

Jam the receivers at the line within the five yard window....Edelman and Amendola are not big or physical receivers. Disrupt, disrupt and disrupt....force Brady to hold it longer...if u take away Edelman, hes gonna resort to Gronk.....he always does. If we lose, its gonna be because Gronk play huge.....id rather focus on shutting Gronk down and letting the other two beat us. Edelman is a pinky thump away from concussion protocol and Amendola is a carpet seam trip from IR. Neither of those cats strike fear in me. Gronk, however, does.

Pressure has to come from somewhere on defense....stunt....put some contact on Brady....the more we tag his *** even if he does get the ball out, the more squeamish he will get as the game goes on and that physical brand of legal hits will cause him to flinch and swing it quicker than he wants to resulting in INTs or incompletions. Whatever we do, we need to generate pressure. Its a must.

If I were Coach Butler - my first plan would be to play man press coverage on all the WR's. I would also assign Shazier to Gronk - all night. He can roll either one of the OLB's underneath Gronk - keep Mitchell DEEEEEEP and bring heat with the rest of the team on every down.

The wrinkle to the scheme will be Cover - 2 press to eliminate any quick passes to the flats. Throw that in every now and then make T*m "uncomfy" (thanks Slash) with an inflated ball in his hands on a soggy night...

Edelman struck some fear into the vaunted Seahawks D.

I believe if the D could create more turnovers, the rest would look a WHOLE lot better. This is part of the reason I was happy that they seemed to be going after those kinds of DB's in the draft. Now we have one on the PS, one on IR and I think the other was just cut.

If the D can just be average or slightly above, the whole teams success wouldn't ride so much on Ben.

If you GIVE them short, they will take it all night and the Steelers will get the minimum number of possessions turn the ball over at least once and punt a few times and lose by 17 or more.

Here's hoping Harrison gets fined for something he does to Brady. I will take up a collection to help pay it.

This is a post of some pedigree, with its arrow pointing firmly up, if you will. I intend to knuckle up and like it till the wheels come off!

If you watched the Buffalo preseason game you can bet Ernie has watched it enough to have the Pats ready to do the same. Mind you, I would throw out the second half in its entirety leaving a 1st qtr score of 13-11 and 23-19 at the half. This is what I think we will see tonight. Quick 3-step drops and quick releases from Brady (negating our pass rush). We need to play man-coverage with zone over. We need to stop the run.

As far as Deebo is concerned...he could play every snap for a few more seasons and still out-play the ******* we have on this team. Has ANYTHING in his past suggested he gets hurt or wears down? He played through knee scopes, back surgeries and broken bones. Never had a 'groin or hammy injury' like some of the >ironman players we have fielded in his replacement. As for the 25 snaps:

This from a FoxSports article:

Conventional wisdom has been that Jarvis Jones will start on the right side at outside linebacker with Harrison spelling him on passing downs. New defensive coordinator Keith Butler says not so fast.
"No, I’d do it the other way," Butler said on Trib Live Radio via Steelers Depot when asked if the young guys will get first dibs . "To be honest with you, we tried to do it the other way a couple years ago with Jarvis [Jones], and it was tough for him. So, we’ll put the older guys in and let those other guys play a lot and see how things go for a while. And we’re hopeful that our young guys will come along and be the top guys. And we’re going to play all of them because we don’t want them out there dying on the vine on us rushing the passer all of the time."
That stands in stark contrast to what new linebackers coach Joey Porter's take earlier this offseason, when he said he would try to limit Harrison to 25 snaps per game to keep him fresh. Regardless of who starts, it sounds like Butler plans to work everyone into the rotation at outside linebacker.
"Well, the thinking is that we are going to go in with what we think is best and if the young guys can handle the mental part of it, then that’s what we will do. If not, then the older guys will be in there," Butler said. "Either way, both of the older guys are going to be playing a lot. We hope to be able to rotate them and give them an equal number of snaps, if we can."
When you consider Harrison's attitude, Jarvis Jones better bring the heat if he wants to keep Harrison from cutting into his playing time too much.

I don't see that happening.

They need to play aggressive, but I would rather them play smart. We've heard comments in the past that the younger guys weren't trusting the defense, probably because they weren't comfortable in it. Butler dumbed down the playbook and it is time that these guys start performing in the new defense.

I don't care who's on this defense you can bring back mean Joe, two down line men just isn't going to cut it. They had three rookies in the oline 2 nite and we didnt put any pressure on Brady. Brady was set on automatic 2nite, one two three throw. You have to win the snap to have any chance and pressure has to come up the middle. Blitzing outside linebackers is a joke against Brady. And to you have to at least pretend to cover Gronk. I know we dont have anyone who can cover him but they had to send out a search party to find him.

Shazier, Heyward and Timmons and I believe Tuitt should be absolute studs. But more than that any one of these players can be aggressive smart gamblers if they are coached up well on film taking calculated risks. I just don't want to see them play catch and tackle. The Pats are starting an undreafted FA at corner. Thus defense easily has as much talent. But it has to be used correctly.

It was so obvious how badly coached we are in comparison. Mostly on Defense. Granted the defense is young, I am hoping they will come together as the season goes along. But even the offense can be coached up better. Plenty of talent/play makers on Offense but they took so long getting the blocking assignments called they could never execute the too bad you werent ready quick plays that Brady and Peyton seem to pull of regularly.

The Pats coaching staff could take cast off UFA junk and polish it up to decent. I really don't know what they do. The Steelers have 5 first round players in their rush unit and can't coach em up unbelievable.

Obviously poor scouting and/or poor coaching.
