A possible silver lining to few drafts picks, limited cap space, and lack of depth.

We could have a better than average rookie free agent class. I'll assume NFL agents are smart a would steer the so-called priority rookie free agents our way at P, OL, OLB, ILB, S, TE, and QB as the chances of making the Steelers roster at these spots or at least landing on the practice squad would be greater than most teams. Un-drafted free agents that make an NFL team get the NFL minimum, however, I think the bonus to sign is up to the team, meaning the Steelers can offer a higher bonus to court the best priority free agents. When I look at who the Steelers bring in for rookie free agents, it needs better geographic diversity.

Do you want more white players, or more black players? Looking for guys with a Boston accent or a southern drawl? Looking for prospects from the Great Plains, or the midwest? Want to see them bring in guys from Alaska, Puerto Rico or Hawaii?

Geographic diversity meaning getting more players away from your back yard. We bring in too many local types as free agents. I'd rather see more rookie free agents from the SEC, or Big Ten.

Hopefully now you understand what I'm saying.

Silver lining? Are we eliminated from the playoffs already?

Just the past to seasons in a row. With a 7th playoff spot added, Tomlin should have no excuses not to make the playoffs this time. Wouldn't you agree? Give me a yes or no.

That EXTRA playoff spot doesn't start until next year 2021. NOT defending Tomlin because that WHOLE coaching staff needs to up their game as they kept two, ST & OC who is handicapping their out puts.

Nah, I think I just wait and pounce on what dumb F()@ks like you say.

SO how come you never respond to yourself..................???

JeePers Coach, we all have variable knowledge in the game / STEELERS / life. MOSt here DON"T pat their own back and claim guru(you should try that (soon). ALSO can you put up the last 3 years of UDFA pick ups and where they were actually from........ To support your claim (I'm not judging either way but a little research and back up might help your cause.

Tomlin hadn't had an excuse for an unsuccessful season since he came, always had a HoF QB and a FO that invested heavily on building a competitive team. But tomlin success has nothing to do with this or previous off seasons and the way the FO works during FA, they have always done a good job in general, better than the majority of other teams.

Ben will be back, tuitt will be back, we had a couple of very good additions in the previous draft that will have huge roles this coming season. I don't see how you are uncomfortable with the current roster that you are worrying about undrafted rookie free agents.

Oh you mean like making retarded 30 day ban bets that you had no hope of winning? Like proclaiming being a draft guru by just watching youtube highlights? Like picking a list of draft prospects and then a year later claiming one of them is the one you wanted all along? Like questioning a players headsize? Like having no draft background but claiming you could be a better GM?

Your opinion means little.... it's just a brief opinion between your tongue to window shining. **** shoe shiners have nothing on you.

Your windows glow of repetition twatfaffle..

Yep there's a few that I would consider the Steelers' back yard, PItt, PSU, WVU. But that is still pretty darn geographically diverse.

Guys, you're being a bit hard on this thread. It has merit. Coach I agree with all but QB, and to a lesser extent, OLB for UDRFA. The other spots we are lacking at depth and someone might take hold.

I wouldn't be holding my breath hoping we have excess UDFA's make the active roster. I could see us trading down to get more picks but with the few picks we do have that would cost us someone decent early. If we are able to acquire another pick via trade maybe we can do so wheeling and dealing to get another pick somewhere. The savings is in getting these draft picks locked in on deals. That's why the CBA got approved as well.

Yeah I can see the team trading a 3rd next season for another 4th this season if the right guy falls. We will get a 3rd round comp pick for Hargrave, maybe a 6th for Finney/davis?

My thoughts as well. Trade something from next year to jump in for an extra pick this year. Doubt they have a long term deal with Dupree in place until summer because that's just when those things seem to happen. Hopefully by summer this virus is gone and we can get back to normal

Remember, kids, circumventing the language filter by using symbols to type words that only grown-ups should use is just cause for a ban.

which part has merit? The list of Steelers' needs? the rest is gibberish or as was pointed out about geographical diversity, flat wrong

Oh Lord where to start......

I’ll just end it now. Hey Dumb ***, Pittsburgh is part of BLESTO. A consortium of organizations that pool their scouting resources and distribute the general findings amongst the organization. In fact our BLESTO rep is a former Steeler. So their “geographic diversity” is pretty much all 50 freaking states and Canada.

And Jackass, in case you didn’t know BLESTO originally stood for Bears/Lions/Eagles/Steelers Talent Organization, back in the early 60s. Other teams later joined and then the Bears and Eagles left to join a new scouting org. Now, there are just primarily two, BLESTO and the National. NE is one of only six teams who use only use in house scouting. I’m not sure of the other 5, but the Stains are one and Davis refused the Raiders to rely on others evaluations.
