Anytime there is something like NFL 100 I kinda feel like the 70's Steelers take up all the recognition at the expense of the players from 2004-2012. There is absolutely no doubt that the 70's teams are among the greatest sport dynasties of all time and of course most of the attention should be on them. But three SB appearances and two wins in 8 years is pretty damn good. Troy Polamalu pretty much revolutionized safety play as a guy who could equally attack the run game and take away big receivers. Ben won championships and put up huge seasons with either a thin line or a lack of big play makers on offense. I would argue in '05 they had a great line, but Cedric Wilson, Randell El to complement Ward. In '09 he had good weapons but absolute **** for line. The Steelers will place no one on this list from those teams.
The 70's teams were fantastic, but there wasn't much movement then. Some of these guys really just had to play an area because there was so much talent around them, you didn't have to ever worry about the guy next to you.

If anything they don't give enough recognition to those 70s Steelers. they always try to give some one year wonder team bigger props...

So far its Ham, Lambert, Greene, Blount. Woodson is the closest thing to a late modern player that will make the list.

Troy did not make the NFLs top 100, but two ******* punters did???? Troy maybe the greatest safety ever. He made a **** load of plays in coverage, at the LOS, behind the LOS. I don't think there's ever been a safety that was equally great vs the pass and at the LOS

It’s a travesty, but Troy couldn’t care less. That’s the kind of guy he is.

The current commissioner is holding a grudge against the STEELERS. They were the only team to vote against the CBA but more importantly the power it gave the SOLE commissioner. He has held that grudge and let it grow into the behind the scenes that it is. He has also backed the CHEATRIOTS in his haste of STEELERS cooperation. What team has lost the most when it comes to the cheater's victories.

Laugh at this all you want but for those who don't think there isn't any back door posturing on players / events / lists / etc...... Are kidding themselves. The NFL puts out what they want and who they want and as the "rog" dislikes our beloved STEELERS I am sure there are oppurtunites missed that should have been capitalized on.

The "rog" wants his legacy to be the new CBA and after that is complete, **** or not, I see him retiring and teams getting a FAIR treatment once again.

The thing about the 70's STEELERS is it wasn't if they were going to win but who was getting beat by them this week. In other words the FAN / Media / team knew they were going to win and win they did. How long has it been with these current STEELERS regime that you had that kind of a winning attitude of the team????

70's = Super Steelers

00's = Not sure

Granted both ERAs had great players but one ERA had that undeniable support.

Seriously? They put the punters there obviously to represent their position. I loved Troy......there will always be the great debate between him and Ed Reed. They were both great.....I always thought that Troy made bigger plays on bigger stages. But I am also quite biased.

Reed's interception totals double Troy. As do Lotts. In this things there is always an attempt to pay homage to the past. So there are two guys from way back. Tunnell, Christiensen, Houston and Wilson. Ok paick two or three of those guys and get Polamalu in there. Like **** he wasn't a safety like Reed. Reed was like Fitzpatrick. He was a hawk on the back end with real instinctual ball skills. Polamalu was a play destroyer. You ask any OC from that era and he would tell you the same. You had to account for him all the time. He erased so many dump offs that should have been first downs you couldn't count them. I believe he will be first ballot HOF this year, but honestly when the time comes, I don't believe Ben will be.

Two different positions, both HOF type players.

Troy was the best DB that I have seen since Blount. Everyone thinks I am biased but I am not. those 2 guys could take over a game. Lott is up there also. guys like Dion didnt have a complete game. he was great in coverage, but was a joke against the run.

I think BEN will make first ballot HOF. The ONLY way he doesn't would by godell's back door posturing.
