PAUL KAMMERMEIER FROM HONEOYE FALLS, NY: Having won just six Super Bowls instead of all 53 of them shows that the Steelers are not performing up to expectations. I suggest the Steelers trade a 13th-round pick, which does not exist, to move up to No. 1 overall. Also, they should trade Shamarko Thomas, who is not on the roster, for at least two All-Pro defensive players, and then pay them the league minimum. They also should always draft players I like from the college I attended, and coaches should always make decisions in hindsight, like I do. Finally, the players should never get injured or retire. I mean, it's just common sense.

Very hard to trade up or down when you make your pick in 3.4 seconds

Just down, trading up no longer applies at that point. Trading down in the first round often, if not always, involves discussions and fielding offers beforehand in the event that a team is willing to trade down. It’s not some mad frenzy to find a team and throw something together in 12 or 15 minutes.

Agree. People act like they are sitting around in a sound proof room until they get notice they are on the clock.

I prefer to wait until we are on the clock to consider trading up.

The very very few times they do trade up or down it works out well. Troy stonio and hampton all turned out pretty ok.

I always liked “They should’ve traded up/down” like it’s something they can do at will.

And believe me there are a lot of those who think it is just an at will thing to do................... HELL, as many people who think they would trade / fire / cut / league minimum, IT WOULD BE a miracle to be even to field a team..!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Salute the nation

Peter King in his MMQB article has a "what they should do" mock draft and he has 5-6 teams that should trade down and not one that should trade up. Kind of tells you the logic that is pervasive everywhere, even in a guy that's covered football and drafts for 25+ years.

The best line is the first one:

He has a point.

I remember someone in the early 2000s saying “The Steelers haven’t won a Super Bowl in 22 years! That’s way below the NFL average.”

That was probably Coach.
