You could load the line of scrimmage with Heyward, Watt, Tuiit and your next best DL/ Pass Rusher. You have two guys in Barron and Bush who can run to the ball carrier and cover. Then you put out your starting five DB's and Hilton. Pretty good in my books. Should be the most used sub package.

Unfortunately I doubt Tomlin will ever get away from that moronic 2DL set, he loves it, but I agree with you and have been screaming about this for 2 seasons now. We are extremely soft up front and can't get any kind of push with only 2DL, but hell Tomlin runs that **** on goal line plays sometimes so it's painfully obvious he loves that scheme.

I'd love to see Cam, Tuitt, Hargrave, Watt along the line, with ALuALu, Walton, Big Dan rotating in. It would take Dupree off the field more and it would utilize our talent on the Dline.

Hard pass on Big Dan doing anything. That guy gets pushed around too easily. Hope we go draft a big body somewhere in this draft to backup Hargrave.

DE Dupree
DT Heyward
3T Hargrave
DE Tuitt
LB Bush
LB Barron

I have Watt playing DE in that scheme with the ability to drop into coverage and blitzing Barron or Bush or maybe both. I have Dupree playing Left Out.

their two man line is kinda like a 4-2 but it gets destroyed by the run pass option. many teams adopted that defense from the college boys who have to defend against the spread offenses but chip Kelly came along and started spreading the offense then power running much like the old steeler smash mouth offense but adding a run pass option for the qb. not hard to imagine Cordell running a run pass option offense. anyways the RPO offenses destroy these "spread defenses". kc's qb said playing against the steelers spread defense was like playing 7 on 7 drills. so i would think Tomlin and butler have been working on fixing that. but Tomlin and butler really have a problem with "look at me!!! im a mad Genius!!" syndrome so who knows. the old Penn State 4-4 defense is perfect as a base defense to stop the spread pass, run pass option because it doesn't surrender the line of scrimmage and with athletic linebacker/safeties you can cover the field against both pass and run. Seattle uses it and has had great success and teams have copied it. but keeping the "hybrid" linebacker/safeties on the field can be difficult. kam chancellor, Ryan Shazier, out of football Sean Lee can't stay on the field so its a real chess match to try and stay a step ahead of the offensive game plans. go steelerssssss
