I have yet to attend a game at Heinz, but did attend 1 or 2 games at 3 Rivers when it was around. Obviously no one is attending games now with COVID, but was wondering to myself one day about Heinz. 3 Rivers had lots of banners back in the day. Franco's Italian Army, Lambert's Lunatics, Gerela's Gorillas, etc., etc.. Watching the games on TV I don't ever see anything like this at Heinz. Not allowed? White collar crowd doesn't do the things the older steel worker crowd did? I just don't see 'em?Miss some of those old days ... Just bein' a li'l nostalgic.

Far as I know banners still fly just probably not the same ones you remember.

(Usually attend 1 to 3 games a year)

Banners are only on the ramps that flank the main scoreboard. Still a bunch there. We should get a Steeler Nation banner hung!

The Blast Furnace was LOUD. Heinz feels more like a baseball stadium with the open end, than a football field. It is beautiful though!

There are signs around the stadium with my favorite being the "Steelers Country" sign in the end zone. You really don't see the fan clubs like in the 70s outside of Steel City Mafia. There's also the guy that always has on the hard hat and shoulder pads, Jesus, and Steelers Pope that are fixtures at the game.

I prefer Three Rivers for football but PNC for baseball.

Hard to believe TRS has been gone for almost 20 years. Seems like just yesterday they blew it up.

I am part of Steeler mafia. They don't seem to do much anymore. They were bringing players to rallys. Met a lot of Steelers at those events. Greg Lloyd, Ernie Mills, Eric Green, etc. Hardhat shoulder pad guy is Steelman. He was a part of a small myspace group I created that was called, "the league of extraordinary Steeler fanatics".

Seemed like more of a HFA in Three Rivers at least as I recall watching the games on TV. Maybe it was the speed of the turf as well for the defense.

To illustrate how much football has changed, I used to not mind so much the offense punting in the '90s because it meant Rod Woodson, Greg Lloyd, Carnell Lake, and Kevin Greene and Crew were coming onto the field. The defense was more fun to watch than the offense. They really got a great push off of the rug.

I think "corporate America NFL" has a little to do with the banners as well, money thing. Limited to amount & where they can be hung so as NOT to mess up NFL advertisement / sponsored / staduium sponsors / etc.

The Good O'l banners of the 70s were something to see & live, "Franco's Italian Army" & "STEEL CURTAIN" we're a BIG ones. Even in later years "Avoid LLoyd" / "Physco Ward" / to name a couple. Loved them as they added an allure to our beloved STEELERS.

I use to be an advid Home-Brew artist and I had a brew I made 9days from start to drink and it was named Blitzburgh for both the team and the 8%+ abv.. For each batch I just added the number up so like Blitzburgh 6, Blitzburgh 7, .......up to Blitzburgh 27 (final batch).

Yes sir loved all the banners and currently I have a "You're in STEELERS COUNTRY" banner hanging across my barn facing the most traveled county (gravel) road in. Our county. I get comments all the time.

Salute the nation

I think you see lack of banners for players cause it’s a risk of maybe offending them. Gerela’s Gorillas would be spun to be racist in this day and age.

The best Steeler banner ever was the circa 1979 one that we hung in Cleveland Municipal Stadium...

Banner made out of a "borrowed" bedsheet from the Holiday Day with basic black spray paint lettering (all we could afford at the time) that read

THE BROWNS ARE CLOWNS....GO STEELERS!

three rivers was much louder.. no doubt. idk about the banners stuff

Three Rivers was the better home field advantage.

Heinz Field being newer has the better jumbo screens, audio's and / electronics and is probably a better place to view the game.
