By Logan Leslie SteelerNation.com Over the last decade, the answer to this question has typically been a defensive position. However, in 2019 the Pittsburgh Steelers became one of the best defensive teams in football. This means the need now shifts to the offensive side of the ball. In 2019, the Steelers offense was embarrassing. Partly […]

I can agree about RB. But TE is not in our top biggest needs,, OL would be in my spectrum. Vance missed 2 games for a concussion. Tired of the rhetoric on him.

Glad I'm not making this call. While the struggles at RB and TE were apparent this year, much of that can be attributed to who was standing behind the center.

A case could be made for the OL as well, but the key will be a healthy Ben.

If I recall correctly, I believe the knock on the Missouri TE is that he doesn't block. If that's the case, the Steelers won't even look his way but they should. A guy that big and with good speed could be a game changer, especially in the red zone.

TE and RB is often injured on our team two solid needs, as is guard. You can target TE in free agency and bring in a G and RB in the draft or bring in a G and draft a RB and TE.

but like the options provided in the write-up. I have been looking at those prospects mentioned.

So these 4 needs need to be addressed in some form or fashion.

RB- draft
TE- FA or draft -prefer FA
QB - free agency
G FA or draft - draft is ok but either would work

also sign Bud and BJ.

Nobody is going to fully know what the team needs until after FAs starts and the team decides how to handle Dupree.

Dupree isn't going anywhere you can bank on it. The rest are needs as of now, if free agency addresses some of these needs cool. Then those needs will obviously be eliminated and the remainder can be captured in the draft. Odds are this won't be an overly active free agency. Hopefully they bring in one or two to strengthen a weak O.

Great post slash but if the "Gronk like" TE is there, I'd be inclined to take him. He would have to be a day one starter and the STEELERS would have to utilize him as a weapon (not just a body on the field).

QB vet is an absolute must unless the staff knows or sees H-U-G-E improvement from Mason........ Liquid like movement.

Can we get a good enough RB in the third "COMP" pick slot?

Senior bowl has some good later round prospects with my favorite being Perine who could be available late 3. Didn't blow up the college football world statistically. But played behind a ****** Oline and was on a team that rotated their backs. Yet he still showed well with what was mentioned. Dobbins could be the pick in 2 but if they go G or TE instead look for a round 3 RB.

The run blocking sucked *** this year. They need some teeth in the trenches on the OL.

If we are not going QB which I would not unless Tua falls, I would just take whoever the best player available is regardless of position. We just need elite talent period.

I would agree with the article on the need for more talent at RB and TE. Seems like a pretty weak TE class and a very strong and deep RB class so if it were me I'd focus on getting a good RB early.

The core of our D for the next decade (hopefully) is Watt, Bush and Fitzpatrick. All the other players will need to fit in around them and how much they will be making. We have a few years until those three will all carry huge cap hits. So, we have some room now. That is why it is just too hard to see Bud getting a big contract. Non-exclusive tag him and take a 1st rounder if someone offers him more than say $12 million per. No way we can sign him for $15+ million per season.

And, if we do tag him, Vance is 90% gone so a TE with one of our 1st 2 picks makes total sense if someone is there that makes sense. Hopefully, they won't go for a blocking TE that can catch sometimes. They need a receiving TE that is or can be an adequate blocker. Their first pick this year should be on O but really could go a variety of directions. I still think our 1st 2 picks should be RB, TE, O-line or even WR. D should be for depth in this draft unless Bud is definitely gone.

The only Free Agent I would look at is at QB. Bridgewater or Shaub could fill in for Ben when he's injured. Notice how I said "When" and not "IF"? Ben isn't a 16 game QB with his age, the abuse he's taken over the years, and his style of play.

With Ben back at QB and a decent backup QB, you'll see the Running Backs, TE's, and even the WR play improve. No Need to panic.

2nd round, I focus on the OL and grab Tyler Biadasz, C, Wisconsin or Jake Hanson C, Oregon. Have them play left guard for two years until Pouncey and Ben call it a career. Address the LB, DL, and rest will be camp bodies.
