Who is your "no, just no" guy in the 1st round?

I get it but he's young, raw and toolsie which the Steelers have drafted in the past. He's one of the few that I'd like to see try at LT out of this class. Or we could try Troy at LT but I'd like to see what Max could do there.

1. Do you really want to risk weakening the right side off the Oline in attempting to strengthen the left side?
2. Fautanu played left tackle for left handed quarterbacks in college. Whilst the left handed QB might not make a difference to some of the basic requirements of Left Tackle play, it does make a difference to run/pass blocking emphasis and the pass protection arc.

As a side note Fautanu played right tackle in high school, so basically his entire career he has protected the quarterback's front side, not the blindside.

And how often has young, raw and toolsie worked out in the first two rounds for the Steelers in the past (for any position, not just offensive tackle)? It certainly didn't when the Steelers used a second round pick on Mike Adams. Brod Jones met that description too - and the whole reason we're now talking a left tackle in the first round, is that even before the injury, most of this forum weren't convinced Jones is the future at LT.

Not saying it's right but that's what the Steelers have gambled on in the past.

Concepcion had 7 drops with 61 catches on 101 targets.
DK Metcalf had 5 drops with 59 catches on 99 targets.

Yeah, but two points:
1. DK's drops are an issue
2. Concepcion is not likely to drop fewer passes in the NFL with better coverage and larger CB's and safeties

For me DK is the reason the team should think about staying clear of a player with similar issues. DK at times has irritated the majority of the fanbase with ill timed drops. Imagine having a double dose of that. For me I prefer someone who can get open and hold onto the ball. Not someone we hope will improve in that area. **** in one hand hope in the other.

I don't want anything but the best tackle at the position. I'm GUESSING at what actions the steelers could take

For example: In 2010, somebody named Korey Hall is listed as starting for the Green Bay Packers, at fullback. He had zero yards rushing and 1 catch....for the entire season. McCarthy runs a west coast offense. He ran 11 personnel 76% of the time during his last season in Dallas. Yeah, he drafted Cobb way down in the second round...when he already had three solid receivers. The Steelers don't. But tell me again about what you read and misinterpreted on pro-football-reference. It's so compelling.

I'm saying that for 6 to 8 of the seasons he coached, the depth chart listed only 2 WRs as starters. I know he's coached longer. His last year in Dallas he ran 11 personnel with 3rd round pick Jalen Tolbert, why do you think he needs a first round pick to run 11 personnel?

We're not drafting a WR in the first round, which is a good thing.

I don't know how I'd feel about taking another project at tackle given the process we saw with Jones. I know it's a different coaching staff, but I'd still have reservations.

I agree..
I believe that’s possible if we stay away from wide receiver in the first or second rounds..
If anything, it will increase our likelihood of not picking a diva..
