There's a shocker - just proves anything is possible

The Denver Broncos and coach John Fox have mutually agreed to part ways.

"While we have made significant progress under Coach Fox, there is still work to be done," Elway said in a statement. "I believe this change at the head coaching position will be in the best interest of our long-term goal, which from day one has been to win World Championships."

Fox was signed by the Broncos to a contract extension this past offseason so the team will owe Fox at least two years' worth of salary unless Fox secures one of the current openings in the league.

"I am eager to continue my coaching career and look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead," Fox said in his statement.

he seems to come up short alot

you said it !

(I thought it)

Wow, so it was either win the Super bowl or get fired for Fox this year.

I am there will be droves of coaches looking to meet those expectations.

I say lots of things

you know, if Peyton retires, Elway is Ben's hero, maybe he'll accept a trade to Denver if the Steelers lowball him?

throw in all their DL pass rushers and a couple #1 picks and we might have a deal

Interesting to see whom they try to bring in now......but this has the potential to blow up like Chicago....suggesting "Ohhh we have Peyton !!! Anybody can win 11-13 games with Peyton...we'll just find another coach to get us over the hump".

Not so fast. Watch, Denver finishes10-6 or worst AND if they dont miss the playoffs, theyll go wildcard and lose first round......

KC and SD should gain ground on the donkeys next season. They just ****** up lettin John Fox go.....Manning was the problem. Not John.

Yeah Manning was the problem in the playoff game he should not have been out there. When you have to resort on lobbing the ball or screens you are in trouble. I still think there were other problems besides the quad. He was not limping like Rodgers was. I am surprised that the cut the whole staff. Unless Manning makes a miracle recovery he can not lead that team anymore. Alot of coaching spots out there will be interesting to see who goes where. On a side note SD should always gain ground, but they find a way to choke.......

is everyone blind here?

only those sitting too close to the tee-vee

Tomlin has a ring....

with Cowher's team - but enough about ancient history

Last 4 years - Fox 46-18 record in four seasons in Denver, AFC Championship

Tomlin - 1 playoff appearance, a loss, last 4 years

"I think if there is one thing that you would like to have and you want to feel, at least in the last game you want to feel like you go out kicking and screaming. When you're right there and I think two years in a row it didn't feel like we went out kicking and screaming because of the fact the way we played the last game."

Elway added he was "disappointed we didn't have more fire" against the Colts.

Hmmmm...so they didn't play with fire. Didn't go out fighting the good fight. I wonder what would happen in Pitt if that scenario played out?

They want to talk to Kubiak. He said he wasn't interested in HC vacancies, but that was before Denver job
came available

This is so weird. I thought that if your team has a good W-L% with you at the helm, it means you're a good coach and your team would be stupid to fire you.

Leave it to the stupid Broncos to only give their coach four years to win with a HOF QB. Everyone knows a coach needs at least 10-15 years to build a winner. And if you try to upgrade before then, you're the Bills.

Leave it to you to turn this into another whiney thread.

I'm surprised they are getting rid of Fox. He did win a playoff game with Tim Tebow as his quarterback. Divine intervention aside, that's like winning 2-3 Super Bowls, or so I've heard. Having said that, I think Tim might have a higher post season winning percentage than Peyton.
