It's also not the first read on the play, or the second, maybe the third. This is Matt Canada thinking he's smarter than everyone, thinking that no one will think to cover the flat and makes that the first read.

I don't think he has confidence to do anything but throw the play as called. He probably doesn't trust the line to block so he just throws the first read.
I was honestly excited about the Steelers' 11-0 record last year, mostly because of the rarity of that type of start to an NFL season. But it was complete fool's gold, evidenced by their 2-8 record since that point.

Honestly, I'd challenge folks to name one player on offense that's worth most 2nd stringers on pretty much every other team in the league.
I know some folks would point at Najee, but without an offensive line, he's useless. He aint Barry Sanders.

Miscommunication has been a theme for the Steelers for about 5 years now.
I'm definitely not a Tomlin hater. However, there comes a point when players need a fresh new voice. When the message gets stale. In hockey it's rare to see one coach with a team for as long as good NFL coaches stay with their teams. Anyway, even as a person who respects Tomlin as a coach, maybe his shelf life in Pittsburgh has expired.

Exactly... We are not progressing as a team with Ben. In fact, he's holding back the progression of players who we may need to rely on at some point to lead the team...

I mean it shouldn't be a surprise that he isn't as sharp at 39 years old as he was in his prime. Otherwise QB's would play into their 40's all the time. It still wouldn't make a difference with Rudolph or anyone else we currently have on the roster. The team just isn't very good as a whole. At this point I want Ben to finish the season and pad those carer stats. This team won't be going anywhere. I accepted that last Sunday.
On another note, it was suggested in another thread that Ben should call his own plays. Do you really trust a guy who is not seeing 'Muth wide open from the snap in the picture above to call his own plays? I don't think so. Because if he's already predetermining where he's going with the ball before the snap when the OC calls the plays, he'd be so much more likely to do so when turned loose to call his own.
My point is (and the point of the pic) is that Ben either isn't seeing the field well, or is refusing to take what the defense is actually giving him. Either way, it hurts the team/offense. And, it's happening way too often. If Canada/Sullivan aren't pointing these lapses out to him, they need to go.
I saw Clint Eastwood's "Cry Macho" a weekend ago. It was hard to watch such a poorly written & acted movie from one of my favorites ever. But that bad movie doesn't detract how I feel about Clint's overall body of work.
Some all-time greats just fade away.

Nobody’s disparaging his career and legacy.
Ben today reminded me of Cowher’s last season coaching.
Physically, he’s present.
But he’s not really there.
I’m NOT blaming him for today’s loss.
Our O-line is flaming hot garbage.
But you need a leader that has a vested interest and WILL command the huddle.
He’s not doing that this year.
Also, Tomlin needs to go.
Needed to go years ago.
I don't think we need to debate tanking. This team is simply a bad team with a bad coach. Bad teams with bad coaches don't "tank," they just suck.

Yep, this team is 2-8 in the last 10 and struggle to put points on the board. They are one of the worst teams in the NFL right now.
