Trade! Steelers get CB

A couple of things I'm reading about this dude is he can be a head case - up and down. Hopefully, Tomlin can work his magic with him because apparently, he has the talent and size to play. He apparently shut down Metcalf last year when he went head to head against him.

5th round is a little high for my liking but I'll take it. Hopefully, he gets up to speed quickly and can add some value this year. What I am surprised about is releasing Mondeaux to free up a spot for him. We are thin at DL with Tuitt gone for at least half a year. Mondeaux is good on special teams and played well when in games last year. Seems like we had other guys we could have released.

What they see in Ulysees Gilbert is beyond me. He was clearly *junior varsity* this pre-season, to use a Tomlinism. I'm not sure I'd carry him on the practice squad, much less the 53 man roster. Maybe he's a ST demon and Danny Smith is ready to unleash him. Having said that, Mondeaux is *just a guy.* They can easily move him to and from the PS as they please.

This trade is an excellent move by the Steelers. They found a guy they liked to shore up CB depth and went and got him. Witherspoon has the perfect blend of youth & experience, played huge in the NFC title game for the 49ers. Colbert's done it again.

Perhaps Gilbert goes after they trade for a OT.

I would rather Tomlin save his magic for the playoffs.

Why do you say half a year for Tuitt? Rules are different now and he can return, if ready, in 3 weeks.

Yes that three week rule isn't the kiss of death. I like the ability to move players around with small recovery windows.

It is Coolie and country school. There were 3 kids in my second grade class (one was held back or there would only been 2). The card is in form but the teacher grades and comment(s) are written by hand.

SIDE NOTE: Cheryl was the other 2nd grader and we lived about a 1/4 mile apart. One day it was rainy so my mom dropped me off at her house so we could play. Cheryl's mom told us to play in the basement so we did and eventually ran out of toys / boredom. She said lets get married and we told her mom and so we dressed up and all. was a lot of fun. I still bragg about her's and mine wedding at such a young age. W haven't seen each other in a long time but when we do we always laugh

As long as there was no consummation to your side note...

I think similar to Ross cockerel big size limations speed vs will have to rely on things like jamming wr and rerouting them

I say that because: A. He is still dealing with mental issues from the death of his brother. B. He is dealing with an unknown knee injury that no one knows where he got it or if it will heal on its own and not require surgery. And, C. He is completely out of shape and has apparently done no training in several months. It will take him months just to get back into any type of game shape once his knee is healed. And, with A involved, we don't know when he will even be ready to deal with B and C. I'm not sure what the IR rules are as far as coming back or being put back on IR and then coming back but I see no way he is back in 3 games, let alone 6 games. If he is back before mid-season, I will be shocked.

There are no limitations of speed, he's a low 4.4 guy. From what I've read, consistency is what our coaches will have to coax out of him.

I believe a couple were pretty high on him, and his teammate (Chidobe Awuzie) in that draft. I’m happy they opted against a guy like Sherman, especially because look at his ongoing legal issues, and he’s a guy who’s at the end.

I'm just curious as to how you know what or depth of his dealing in his greiving process ? Was there an article or something recently?

I think his knee issue is the determining factor to his readyness.

This guy is a hell of a lot faster than the current Richard Sherman,.............. unless of course you are talking mouth speed............. then Richard takes the award.

I too am glad we didn't go Sherman's way. I think our coaching staff will get an upgrde out of him.

What magic would that be?

If you look at his SPARQ he’s a rare athlete. Hopefully the Steelers can put that athleticism to use. 1.5 million and a 2023 5th is a decent trade. 95% of 5th round picks never contribute so if he contributes this year it’s a win. If he earns an extension we knocked it out of the park,
