Steelers V Panthers game thread

Seems like that awful announcer thinks it's quite a feat for their starting O to score a whopping 10 points on our backup D... aided by a muffed punt.
Darnold sucks.
Hard to care much about watching this one.
Was hoping to see Haskins try to play a little bit, but the play calling has been pretty weak, and the dump-off passes don't show much. I guess we all know if Ben gets hurt we're ****** anyway. We may be, regardless, if this line doesn't get it together.

I would play Haskins in the third quarter until he gets a scoring drive
Just turned it on...U r right...Only 18 plays total for the first half?

TIME OF POSSESSION....21 minutes for Carolina and 9 total for the Steelers?

Doesn’t look like Haskins is in any way in the running for #2. He may be lucky to get a chance @ #3
I think he is a year or so behind Rudolph in development... I truly think the entire competition was imagined by the media... Tomlin had a bunch of coy non committal quotes they took to mean that Haskins was magically doing better than he was. Haskins still has mechanical and mental growth to do before he is a legit option

Anyone worried that they are going to keep Berry?

HUGE mistake if they do................... Why did it take so long for him to actually get competative ? It's a fad and will cease to exist once threat is taken away from losing his JOB.

If Pressly Harvin isn't the choice then our coaching has question marks....... can YOU hear me "Bubbles" !

Salute the nation

I have to go back many years since I have seen a team play their starters this far into the last preseason game. If one of their important players gets an injury in a meaningless game, I wonder if they will still think it is worth it.

Panthers only have 1 important player, McCaffrey and he's not playing.

Seriously though, I think Carolina is right to play the starters this long. We are used to a 4th game being the last and then you play for real like 9 days later, but this is it for preseason and you don't play again until 9/12 which is 16 days.

If most teams have done like the steelers and not played most starters then we will see a ton of ****** football for the first few weeks. It has already been trending that was for years.

good point... i didnt think of that

At this point, Dobbs could easily take the #3 position from Haskins.

Haskins Passer rating for the first half was 2.8...... I want to caution that Bradshaw holds the record of three games with an actual zero rating.... and he developed fine
Yeah, but Bradshaw always tried deep throws and that happened during an era where DBs could maul receivers all the way down field. Dwayne "Check Down " Haskins is doing this while throwing around 5 to 10 yds of the LOS.

I dont believe anything those QBs do today means anything... The coaches know who they are most comfortable with... If haskins was still lacking then all this game does is make it easier to keep Dobbs over him without the great unwashed fanbase crying literal river about it..

I dont think thats going to happen though

If this is our second string secondary we are in trouble. The tackling technique is lost on this team. No one comes up and hits anyone, no one comes up and knock's a player out of bounds. Panthers pick up extra yards on each play.

Media? Over half of the posters here think his is head and shoulders ahead of Rudy. Hell, they have written off Dobbs, and based on this 1st half, Haskins might want to start packing his stuff tonight.

on a side note, college football starts tomorrow. Nebraska vs Illinois at noon. If Nebraska looses, it could be a long year.

has anyone, I mean anyone made an official statement about why they replaced Tom Bradley with Grady Brown? it was the most mind boggling decision this offseason and nobody talked about it

Just got home. Don't have the game on . I see Haskins is tearing it up.

Come on, did you really think that Haskins was going to be dramatically better than he has been? I just wanted him to not suck. Unfortunately, he sucks right now.
Duck looked better than Haskins, and he is unemployed right now.

I don't see anything tonight to make me not keep Haskins. I mean, you signed him for upside as a project, not because he's reliable. You invested in Rudolph, you like him, so keep the upside guy for #3. Dobbs isn't going anywhere from the practice squad.

I think the bigger problem is that

he had a couple good passes that wrs didnt make plays on... he wasnt as good as they hyped him after game two and he isnt as bad as this game...

he is still meh on reads and he gets some weird mechanics especially on broken plays

Damn, our D is just too tired to make a play. I feel bad for them getting hung out to dry like this!

These final preseason games are always brutal. It looks like we won't win undefeated preseason champions this year.
