If I remember correctly he mentioned the Steelers talking to him.Who'd the Steelers send to scout Trask when Florida had its pro day?
Imma be pissed if that happens. PISSED I tell you!
Trask wasn't even a starter in High School. D'eriq King beat him out for the starting spot.
Trask has nice touch and pocket awareness but his mechanics are poor, lacks arm strength, and doesn't process the field well IMO.
There is a reason why QB's are so successful at Florida and become absolute busts in the NFL. They're simply NOT developed to play in the league. They're not coached to fix mechanics, read defensive schemes, call protections, or move players to leverage numbers. The plays are designed to read 1 position and they're given 2 options.
Out of all of their QBs, Heisman Trophies, National Championship finals appearances, Rex ******* Grossman is the only one to have a decent career in the NFL. And that right there is just plain sad.
I'm far from being a Florida fan. Hate the ******* Gators.Imma be pissed if that happens. PISSED I tell you!

**** me. agreeing with a drunken lawyer.
You getting writing tips form President Plagiarist?
Another throw from the "weak-armed" Trask. 35 yards in the air, does not get more than 15' off the ground at any point:

the knock on him, for some absurd reason, is that he uses too much touch too often...
Literally if this was 20 years ago people would be salivating over a pure pocket passer with good touch and anticipation.... now they want lamar Jackson part 2.... lol
Wentz...lolYep. Trask is not very mobile. Got it. And you know, if you look at the last 22 Super Bowl winners, none of them had pocket passers.
Except the Steelers, NE, Tampa, Baltimore, Denver, Indianopolis, NY Giants, New Orleans. That's just 19 out of the last 22. The other three are Green Bay and Rodgers, Philadelphia and Wentz, and KC and Mahomes. Huh. Those guys are mobile, but very good pocket passers as well. So that is basically 22 of the last 22.
But I mean that pales in comparison to the awesomeness and SB victories of Lamar Jackson, Michael Vick, Kordell Stewart, Cam Newton, etc. Much rather have that elusive, mobile running QB and all those fantasy titles than some cement-footed pocket passers and, well, actual Super Bowl trophies.
You can take Wentz off of your list and put Nick Foles in there with the pocket passers. Wentz didn't play in the Super Bowl. So that helps your argument.Yep. Trask is not very mobile. Got it. And you know, if you look at the last 22 Super Bowl winners, none of them had pocket passers.

However, I'd venture to say that a big part of Roethlisberger's early success was due to his mobility and ability to make big plays outside of the pocket. It certainly didn't hurt.
Ben was never considered a "dual-threat" quarterback, but I disagree -- his biggest asset, I thought, was his ability to improvise when the protection broke down, and he could accurately complete passes all over the field on the run after escaping the rush. That had everything to do with mobility.Point taken. But as to Ben ...
Would anybody consider Ben a "mobile" QB like teams now apparently obsess over? Sure, he was pretty nimble for a big guy, but other than that pretty awesome 30-yard TD run against the Clowns, where he barely made the end zone, can you think of another actual "run" in his career? The QB sweep in SB XL does not count - it went for a yard. His greater skill was being so big and powerful that he simply withstood the pass rush and delivered the ball. That had basically nothing to do with mobility.
And is a skill I wager Trask has his first 5-7 years in the league.

I don't have the time to pick apart your argument, but I'd love to sit down and have a beer and go through it. lol. You make some valid points about the systems being different, I'll give you that. But I don't see the improvement year on year and he's definitely not NFL ready. He'll need to go to the right team and right system to even have a shot. You can't pick out a few good plays where he makes a few good throws and say "SEE...LOOK AT THAT ZIP!" Nah, I've watched enough of his game to see that he doesn't make the pre-snap reads, doesn't take what the defense gives him and wants the home run ball, often throwing into double coverage. The talent he had on the field bailed his *** out which seems to have always been the Florida way. Eh, I'm going on record to say the kid isn't worth anything than a 5th round pick to be a serviceable backup. His high side is Mike Tomcsak. Not remotely relevant. Remember when some guy named Ben did not play QB in high school because the coach's son?
How'd that work out?
His arm strength is good. Is it Favre or Roethlisberg caliber? No. If it were, why the @#$% would he be there at pick 24?
This theory that certain colleges don't produce QB's because of scheme seems to come and go. Ohio State does not produce QB's either. I mean, Haskins, Troy Smith and Terrelle Pryor? So I presume Justin Fields will blow goats in the NFL cuz system.
And remember how Alabama's RB's were overrated cuz blocking or something? Damien Harris, Kenyon Blake, Trent Richardson. Yeah that made a ton of sense until the last three.
Why are you including the Spurrier guys? Dan Mullen has been there THREE years. His system is completely different than the one run by Spurrier or Urban Meyer. Mullen's OC for Trask was Brian Johnson, hired by the Eagles to be a QB coach. You know, hired by the NFL.
Johnson's system ran a lot of 1-1, 3 WR. Like another team I know. He had three very good receivers to work with but a bad OL and terrible running game. Huh. Sounds familiar. Trask improved his delivery in 2020 and had more zip on his throws, particularly those in the 11-20 yard range. One example:

Here is an out to the left. Trask tends to let his left foot drift to the left on such throws, causing him to "open up" (like pitchers who have their lead shoulders leave the delivery path too soon), but that is completely fixable. Even with that defect, he delivers a strike here:

So his footwork improved 2019-2020, his velocity increased, his delivery improved, and he had some very good performances against SEC defenses. He is a big, durable, accurate pocket passer who played well despite a poor offensive line and zero running game.
