https://Invalid Link - Check SN Hom...with-t-alejandro-villanueva-about-re-signing/ Not sure the extent of the talks. Also not sure that locks him into a start if he resigns on the cheap regardless. Wouldn't stop me from drafting a T in 1 or 2. I know I want new blood, at the same time I don't want to cut my nose off in spite of my face. They need depth and a starter at tackle.

Why? Dude was terrible this year and is supposedly valued on the street close to $15 million. I'd sign JuJu in a heartbeat or even Bud before I'd sign Big Al who declined 2 years ago and was just awful this past year. No way do I sign him unless it is for $5 million as and as a backup.

NO!! Just NO!! Don't do it Colbert! You'd be overpaying for a T who is a ****** run blocker when what is required is an upgraded rushing attack.
Hell, if you're not going to do anything in FA about T, I'd rather you roll with the younger player with the same liability (Chuks).

At $$$$3-5 Mil$$$$ (I don't know if he would play for that) he would be excellent back up / depth. You still bring in the High draft LT and start him from day one knowing you have Alahondro for back up.

ALSO it doen't matter he knows the system as that "SYSTEM" is a changing and I hope for the better.

I am reminded that Joe Haden missed all of STEELERS training camp, new to the STEELERS playbook, didn't know the STEELERS system, and instantly became our best DB.

Why not chuk + rookie on the LT and Feiler+ Banner on the RT?
Rather spend the money on matt Feiler who can play G in a pinch if needed and is better at run blocking.

This seems to be a very deep Tackle draft, if we don't get a top prospect I'm gonna brick my laptop on draft day

Chuks is bad and should not even be mentioned as a candidate to start on the left side.

Unless you can get that first or second rounder ready quickly there maybe no other option. We know the odds of the FO laying the bucks down for a free agent tackle is slim to none.

Like JuJu, why would he take 3 to 5 million when he is listed as one of the top FA's and at a value of $15 million. At 3 to 5 million for a backup, I am good. No way do I pay him even close to $10 million and not to start. Unless he somehow found the fountain of youth since last year he sucked and the year before saw a steady decline in his play. Dude is done. Love the guy but he can't be a starter on our team. Move on.

Big Al's time has come and gone here. It was a nice story where the Steelers literally picked him up off the Eagles scrap heap and made him into a pro bowl tackle but his play has declined and Steelers must move on. Big Al is a great human being and a vet and I really respect him but we have to try and improve that LT spot or Ben won't last long. Thanks for your service to the nation and to this football team Big Al. You are one of the good guys.

He's not old. Its not father time.
As steelhurt has said, he was a product of Munchak. I think AL is a casualty of munchaks departure. I don't think we will keep him as someone will pay him more than we want to. But honestly he was a receiver in college.

I'd let him walk. Spend the money on Sutton instead.

why? he is not strong, your RG needs to be a mauler. Chuks only chance would be at LT which requires more finess and quick feet than pure strength

That's what they have to do. Chuks was the worst player on a bad offensive line and I'm not sure it was even close.

I'm hearing a lot of teams will be cutting a lot of players due to the salary cap not increasing. There will be veteran LT's available.

Agree Ron but they are going to have to be cheap. I'm for drafting 1st or 2nd rnd LT and he starts from the get go, pending on who we can gt Vet, maybe battle at start season. I want a STARTING LEFT TACKLE out of this draft as #1 priority.
