the delay in hiring an OC is because Tomlin wants to hire an Oline coach first, to make sure the Oline coach meshes with the OC. Shouldn't that be the other way around?

Perhaps, but it still feels backwards... i mean its better than promoting arians and having zierlien not be able to implement his blocking schemes, but wouldn’t you want the OC to have a say in the OL and not vice versa...
I seriously wonder if Tomlin isnt ok with a coach that will call him out if need be on the staff.. Randy was a yes man...

Tomlin wants to hire who he wants, he doesn't want the OC to have a say in who the OL coach is. Yes, absolutely you'd want your OC to have a say in the OL, maybe the OC wants to pull using his OG's and not his center, maybe he wants his C to be mobile, maybe he just wants road graders. It sounds to me like were sticking with Tomlin's offense.
How about we worry about the things we can solve instead of the things we can't???

I think they should bite the bullet and push Ben on into retirement. Isn't going to happen. Very few of the folks who think this way are on here constantly griping about Ben's second half of the season, playoff game performance and outsized cap hit. Serves no purpose because he will be back,

Ben got worse too. Defense ... well, it did suffer major injury losses. Look, I'm OK with them replacing Tomlin. Might be time for a fresh outlook/new message, etc. But, I don't see the point in spending all off season bitching about something that isn't going to change this year. Tomlin can go. Colbert can go. Ben can go. But, I know it isn't happening in 2021, so I'm not going to develop an ulcer over the lack of change that I didn't expect and don't see.

OH, I believe the "sources" did tell him that. But, the premise that you put out is that Tomlin said it. Heck, his "source" could be Canada, who's tired of sitting in a holding pattern. 'Could be anyone really because he didn't say "team sources". It's really a big fat nothing burger though. If Canada is their guy, with his motion based offense, they'd want to make sure they have an OL Coach lined up that can mesh with him. If they can't find one, why hire Canada?
Canada will not be a long term OC. He’s never stayed with the same job for more than 3 years, he’ll be one and done more than likely. If this is the case than just say we’re interviewing candidates.. and it still doesn’t make sense to hire the OL coach first.
