Even at 11-0, this team has issues

wow coolie,, you need to lay off the sauce.

you're not my liver.....

so you were saying saying why would we end up 8-8 if we were rocking and rolling at 8-3. I was taking it that you were saying I said we were currently rocking and rolling. which we obviously are not.

even so if we were rocking and rolling and at 8-3 the bottom could fall out or we could get Ben injured again.....

so would you rather have issues and be 11-0 or be rocking and rolling but sitting at 8-3??? <<<----------THIS IS WHERE YOU SAID IT COOLIE

SMH!!!

see my edit above....I thought you were saying I stated we were currently rocking and rolling....which we are not.

do you really think that I even read the **** I post?

now back to my bourbon bottle

If anyone listens to sports talk radio today, you would think Steelers are 4-7. People saying we aren't a good team, we have no chance in the playoffs, we've gotten lucky to win most of our games, we haven't played any good QBs... basically that we suck.

I was glad to hear it, hopefully the team hears it too.

Right. Let Tomlin stomp around and rave and be a grump for a few days. And it's happening after a win! Much better than after a loss.

I think Coach Tomlin knows that Washington with Alexis Smith and its Defense is MUCH tougher than its record. He wants this team to focus on this upcoming Monday night's game and NOTHING else.

He has read this team the riot act.

Strap on your big boy or big girl pants cause I have a feeling its going to be all out war on Monday night.

This is the guy in charge of our offense...

RF is a waste of space on the Steelers sideline! He can't design plays and can't call a game to save himself from ******** his own pants! There are 10 guys on this site that would call a better game than him (no, I'm not one of them but I doubt I could be any worse!),

They rushed 20 times for 68 yards. Against a team sporting one starter on the DL and one starter at LB. it’s ok to love your team and admit they suck in the run game. I said it before and I’ll say it again. This team’s inability to run the ball consistently will be what sends them home.

I agree 100%.

....and yet, I was the only person on here suggesting we get Bell.

*****runs for cover*****

What we saw tonight was eye opening. This offense, in spite of the team being 11-0, is just not that good.

1). They can't run the ball. I am undecided on whether it is scheme or execution exclusively, but I am leaning toward scheme. This team run blocks for ****. This is nothing new. Been this way all season with two or three exceptions. This team is so unimaginative when it comes to running the ball, it makes your head spin. The vast majority of the plays are runs to the outside from the shotgun or jet sweeps, and the results are awful. Where is the pulling or trapping or I formation? THE ONE damn play they pulled the guard, it went for 12 yards. Next play was a two yard run out of the shotgun that went for two. To me, the running game is the biggest problem this team has. I see guys like coach rip on Conner, but this isn't a Conner problem. It's a poorly designed run game. It is so ineffective it has become an afterthought to Ben throwing 40-some times per game. And that would be great, except....

2) 90% of those passes are 3-5 yards in the air, and the Ravens were sitting on that **** because they knew it was coming. There is no threat of a real, robust run game, so why worry about it? Even with one starting DL and one starting LB, the Ravens had that **** on lockdown. And it isn't just the Ravens that have it figured out. To his credit, Ben threw some terrific passes to wide open guys anywhere between 10-20 yards downfield, but......

3) Receivers keep dropping the ball. This problem isn't new to this game. Johnson and Ebron are good for dropping at least one pass a game. Tonight they were in rare form. Claypool dropped two by my count, and he has had a few drops throughout this season, but the guy is a rookie and NFL defense is better than what he has ever seen in college so he kinda gets a break.

4) This team was prepared for a cakewalk. Tuitt's post on instagram, to me, was a window into the mindset of this team. Easy win, pad your stats. Except he forgot you have to actually play the game. This team bullshitted through a game they could have and should have dominated. The defense did well, given what the offense left them with, the TD pass by McSorely notwithstanding. They pulled it out, thankfully. Part of me is not sure how. A win is a win, but......

5) There are issues to address. And they are on offense. It boggles my mind that as ineffective as the run game has been, they have changed nothing. Same plays. Same blocking schemes. Same impotence. Regardless how this season turns out, and I feel like in spite of the 11-0 start, it is going to be an enormous let down, the offensive coaching staff needs to be let go. There is too much talent to struggle like this, for at least a half, every damn week. This team should be better than this, right? Teams that struggle like this are not usually 11-0, so it tells me the talent is there. It is either the scheme or execution. Either way, that is on coaching. The players on this offense are not being put in the best position to succeed. If the scheme is bad, change it. If the players aren't executing, sit them. At least for a while. Send a message.

I know I should be happy that my favorite team is 11-0. But I just feel like they are bullshitting. They are getting lucky, at least to a degree. And I know sometimes ou have to be lucky, but this team, right now on offense, is more lucky than good. They owe this season to the defense. This defense is stellar, especially with the rules so slanted to favor the offense. And in spite of those rules, our offense struggles. Mightily at times.

Anyway, flame away. 11-0 will mask a lot of problems. And with this offense at least, it has.

I’m still staggered by how our OL consistently double team one DL & let another penetrate without even getting touched ...

It started in Baltimore game been going on since

We have the highest points differential in the NFL, we're like 4th in the NFL in time of possession. Have beaten one less team with a winning record than than KC. I remember the 2006 Colts had a piss poor run D, then once the playoffs started they stuffed the run.

The issue with our running game is our linemen will never be able to move guys if they're playing from a 2 point stance.

chiefs have scored only about 30 points more than the Steelers this season with their high powered offense....

The blocking scheme and technique they're implementing is just not conducive to a consistent running game.

The Steelers are a shotgun-spread team now, and Conner and Snell are terrible fits for it.

The Chiefs are first in the league in yards per play, while the Steelers are 24th.

The Steelers scoring has been inflated a bit by the defense providing the offense with a lot of extra possessions and short fields.

The Chiefs have by far the more consistent and dynamic offense. It's not even really close.

Defensively, the Steelers have a decisive advantage over the Chiefs, but losing Dupree diminishes that slightly.

I'm not sure I trust the secondary against Mahomes, Hill and Kelce.

Excluding OT we are #2 in the league in TOP. We have a ball control pass attack. Get used to it!

What is the best defense against a high powered offense? The O maintaining TOP. Second in the league as mentioned they are more than capable..

The problem is that it puts too much stress on the offense to be perfect in order to score points 30+ points, which is probably what they're going to need to do once or twice in the playoffs.

In an offense that cannot consistently run the ball or connect on long pass plays, every drop or incompletion is magnified.

It just seems to me they've taken "protecting Ben" to the extreme, while simultaneously having the offense run through him.

The quick, short pass-based offense has definitely limited hits on Ben and has contributed to the 11-0 start, but the lack of balance could end up hurting them in the playoffs, especially if the defense has a bad game.

yards per play doesn't mean a damn thing at the end of the day it is how many points you score. Doesn't matter how they are scored. The chiefs got up big on TB last week and ended up winning by a field goal. They are not unstoppable on offense and they have issues on defense.

I'm not worrying about them until the schedule says they are next up....

For the "Steelers play too many close games" crowd.

Most wins this year by 9+ points.

T-1. KC - 6
T-1. GB - 6
T-3. PIT - 5

Most wins this year by 20+ points.

T-1. PIT - 3
T-1. TB - 3
T-3. KC - 2

Now cross-reference that with strength of schedule. Anything can skewed and molded to frame the team in a good or bad light. Kaboly is guilty of homerism of the highest caliber and calling it "reporting".
