That might be all she wrote for Skipper. Ah well. Guess coach Tomlin knows best.

What a ****** year to have to try and make a team. I feel for these guys. The NFL should really expand the PS further for this year. I still think the roster should expand a bit as well.

I always thought it Seemed like an odd year to cut from 90 to 80... what were the extra 10 players going to do... especially when you’ll have easily 120+ around on game day.

man, i can't imagine what the young players on the bubble trying to make the team must feel like, on a night like tonight....knots in their stomachs, dreading their phone ringing. . .

Everyone pulls for the diamond in the rough player. They can make your team. Like a free second rounder if they start. But it just isn't going to happen on this one. And truthfully he looked great against what Tomlin would call JV talent. I can't ***** about this. They are watching the drills and the scrimmages. Its gonna be the starters Ola and Highsmith.

ABSOLUTELY right SteelerSask........ We don't get to see them on a daily basis and can't make that call where as Tomlin and staff have that luxury. Skipper was a "BUBBLE" player and may have developed but not in this camp / time frame conditions.

Salute the nation

The Pittsburgh Steelers are releasing my TE Kyle Markway. Signed there a couple of weeks ago after getting let go by the Giants and did some good things in camp. Tough year to be a rookie with no preseason games.
...

I'm thinking i twill be the least surprising 53 man roster in recent memory with Duck vs. Lynch being about it.If there is one thing I know about Tomlin its that he prefers the known to the unknown. In game expereince will be a huge decider I'd say Slash's list will be pretty damn accurate. Only Rookie draft picks will make the 53. and the cut line on that will be Dotson or possibly Brooks. All promising UFA's to the PS.
Offense
QBs Ben, Rudolph, I don't know
RB Conner, Snell, Samuels, McFarland
FB Watt
TE: Macdonald, Ebron and Gentry
Oline Al, DD, Pouncey, Feiler Banner/ Okorafor, Weis and likely Grey
WR Juju, DJ, Washington, Claypool, Switz and the other kid with the good name.
=25
Defense
Dline- Heyward, Tuitt, Alualu, I would say this becomes a little interesting and will shake down to numbers and position flexibility with Buggs, Wormley, MCCullers but they probably all make.
OLB Watt, Bud, Ola, Highsmith
ILB Bush, Vince, Gilbert, Spillane
Corner, Haden Nelson, Hilton, Sutton Layne
Safety Fitz, Edmunds, Allen, Dangerfield, Riley/ Brooks
= 24 Room for one Sp teamer or promising positional player on defense
Same 3 specialists.

Per reports Big Dot had a good camp and saw some limited 1 reps. I think he is semi safe.

Hi think Big Dan's career is kinda hilarious, but i tend to agree with you. Its like he is a far less flexible fullback. The game doesn't really require a big dude in the middle except some very specific situations.Dan is just a little more than a slap dick player and for whatever reason he sticks. Like I said no one has ever drawn a salary in my memory for this period of time doing less.

Big Dot not Dan.I was commenting on your Dotson comment. That is one of his nicknames BigDot.

no way you put your rnd 3 pick on PS if Dotson is hurt to short term IR, I'm hoping Brooks makes it he should be a force on ST and used in the box to blitz.

DE Henry Mondeaux*(Brooke Pryor)- another one bites the dust.

Steelers make moves to get to 53-man roster

The Steelers reached the mandatory 53-man roster on Saturday afternoon, as the team went from 80 to 53 players.

The moves the team made include a few familiar faces, including receiver Ryan Switzer and defensive lineman Daniel McCullers. Also let go was defensive back Antoine Brooks Jr., who was selected in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The complete list of those released includes quarterback Paxton Lynch; running backs Kerrith Whyte Jr., Trey Edmunds, and Wendell Smallwood; receivers Saeed Blacknall, DeAndre Thompkins, Deon Cain, Amara Darboh, and Switzer; offensive linemen Christian DiLauro, John Keenoy, Derwin Gray, Anthony Coyle, and Jarron Jones; and tight ends Kyle Markway and Kevin Rader on offense. On the defensive side of the ball, defensive linemen Cavon Walker, Henry Mondeaux, Calvin Taylor, and McCullers; linebackers Tuzar Skipper and Jayrone Elliott; defensive backs Trajan Bandy, John Battle, and Brooks Jr. Also, punter Corliss Waitman and long snapper Liam McCullough were released.

Without a preseason, and without a normal offseason, all of the decisions were made based on training camp evaluation and Coach Mike Tomlin said he felt prepared to make the decisions with the details they had.

"I feel like I have enough information to make decisions, and that's a good thing because it's time to make decisions," said Tomlin on Friday after the final practice of camp. "I thought we made good use of the time and good use of the structure of the time that was provided in terms of the work allotted."

The Steelers will be able to sign 16 players to their practice squad beginning on Sunday, Sept. 6. Of those 16, six of them can be vested veterans, players with four or more years in the league. Initially the practice squad was to be 12 players through the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, but because of the COVID-19 pandemic that number has been increased.
