Steeler Nation War Room NFL Draft: Day One

Higgins/Dobbins/Cushenberry are the three left I find very attractive. I like Pittman and Akers too.

Very surprised to see Matos slide. Most mocks I saw had him easily in the top 20. Also surprised CEH was the 1st RB taken. He definitely isn't the No. 1 RB in this draft.

There were a lot of surprises, that's for sure. If you look at the WR's selected, and the only RB drafted, it was more about getting these guys in space and YAC. Offenses are going more spread with quick throws. I read where Linebacker evaluations weight coverage skills higher than they used to be, and based on Bush last year you can see why. It's a much different NFL than 10 years ago.

CEH had a fighting chance to be number one due to his cut ability and toughness. Plus he is pass catching capable. He really checks off most if not all the boxes. BTW now he definitely is the number 1 RB in the draft as he was number one RB on the Chiefs board. Mocks are fun but teams have their own value boards. I think fans tend to buy into what they read, and hold onto it just a little too much. The film showed me he was a special back and I touted him as my second favorite RB for a reason. Also all the RBs in this class carry concerns to some degree, sometimes it is picking your poison.

Also teams go more for need than they ever have. Not all focus in on BPA like the Steelers do. It is a reason our team tries to fill holes before the draft as much as possible. So they can go BPA and not reach on need.

True. I still wouldn't have taken him. Dobbins has everything he has but is faster, bigger and can block. And, that is just one back. I'm glad he went first as that should push a very good RB to us, if we choose to go that route. Can't wait for our first pick!

Well you know if you read the board Dobbins is my favorite RB. Just don't know if he will last to our pick. We'll see. C/G and WR is still very much in the mix value wise. So is DL and a few pass rushers floating around too. I would think someone attractive will be there if teams still reach heavily on need.

CEH is a great fit in Kansas. Not surprised at all they took him. Great fit in that offence. Lots of talent left which probably means when the Steelers pick we are gonna get the typical we could of drafted that guy in the 4th round responses lol

True, but we don't get draft grades on attitude, work ethic, cultural fit, etc. He has something the Chiefs covet over the others apparently.

I m not surprised about CEH. I thought he was a rare talent. I wanted him on the Steelers but I doubted he would be available. He will excel in KC. That offense is going to be unbelievable.

Dobbins is my favorite RB. I do like everything about Taylor but he puts the ball on the ground. I still think they may take him if he's there. Or, Akers. I do like him as well.

If we go WR, I still would like to see a taller, fast guy with hands. He can learn the routes. I think Diontae is our quick guy that will get the YAC that made AB so special.

Yes that something is called solid tape. Plus others might have coveted him they just went need instead. That happens a decent amount of time. Moreso since the rookie contracts went down. Some teams devalue the RB position too. Even the Steelers usually wait until 2 and below to grab one.

DIC, you don't know how much it hurts me to lose the XFL. It was such a great product for the fans, but McMahan makes more money cannibilizign it during a pandemic. REally sucks. Great rules there too.

I love the Dallas war room. JJ is celebrating, then calls Mike McCarthy to tell him who he already decided to pick. Though to JJ's credit, Lamb was PBA.

Cope, I'm totally with you on the XFL loss. I watched quite a few games and they actually had a better on field product than the NFL. Their talent level had NFL level as well. What was the most impressive was the "flow of the game", what the NFL use to be like in the good O'l days.

None the less, the STEELERNATION.COM is the B-E-S-T in the world. !!!!!!

Nice to see the STEELERS got their 1st round pick of choice.........

Salute the nation

You can see the effects of the lack of offseason activities as teams clearly went with safe picks from big name schools.

I was thinking the same thing. Teams are going big schools and pedigree. A guy like Jeremy Chinn might fall and fall hard. Considered a early second could fall to the third. Highly doubt he’s there at 102 but never know. Freak athleticism with coveted ball skills. Could kick Edmonds inside to rover LB and put Chinn at safety during passing downs.

The rich get richer, Helair with that offense, wow.

This would've been the response regardless of which offensive skill player the Chiefs took. That's what happens when Andy Reid is your HC and Patrick Mahomes is your QB.

My surprises of the night.

5 CB’s off the board and Kristian Fulton wasn’t one of them. I thought he was a tweener for first and second but the former 5 star and #1 overall high school player coming out of Louisiana imo should have gone over the likes of Jeff Gladney. Maybe there’s a medical I’m not aware of?

Jordyn Brooks going in the first. I like Brooks and 10 years ago I could have seen this but his lack of pass coverage skills I thought would drop him.

Isaiah Wilson going in the first. Imo he’s a right tackle only. Not saying right tackles aren’t important just might have been available a round or two later.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire going first round and first back. I like his production and grit but he definitely doesn’t check off many physical requirements of an NFL running back. Short, short arms, not great top speed, not overly agile. Has good burst though and is a gamer. Has intangibles. My concern was he doesn’t pass pro and ran behind one of the best offensive lines in college.

Here’s a link to my big board. Lots more Edge guys available than I thought. Especially with the league being so pass happy and teams coveting guys who can get the QB.

Sorry but I just don't care how attractive they are........as long as they can play football.

BPA is supposed to stand for Best Player Available....... your idea sounds more like Beautiful Player Available

Ease up there Shallow Hal:anonymous:

Tough for the Titans to take a chance and wait until the second round. They needed a right tackle and his style fits with what they do on offense. I agree a round high, yet I get why they made this selection.

Attractive = BPA like surprised they are still available ...[emoji16][emoji2957]

Agreed, I'd be fine with Claypool, Safety or Edge, depending on who drops.
I keep mulling over options just would be surprised if the Steelers see the BPA other than WR,RB,or Oline. But still some picks left so obviously that way of thinking can change quickly. Today is the day!

CEH was absolutely the right pick for KC. He is by far the best 3 down back. Chiefs don’t need a grinder. They need a scat back who can catch passes. CEH was definitely the best fit.

With the way talent is falling, BPA may be Safety or Edge, possibly OT.

Since they had video of fans booing ******* Goodell, will their also be video of Tombert running the pick in just as the Steelers get on the clock?
