I don’t know Drink. I’m looking!

Sounds like it's the exclusive tag, which is phenomenally stupid if true. Can someone explain to me what the downside is of using the non-exclusive tag? If someone signs them, you get two first round draft picks.

They never do anything but exclusive. Dumb but that's what they do. Hopefully, they can sign him long term to a deal around $12 million per. That's the top of the scale for what he's worth although he now thinks he's worth $16.5 million per.

Yep, exactly my thoughts, I'd go as high as 13 per on a long term deal with him.

Good. Now get him signed long term so we can get on to other business. Going to be lots of weeping around here over this.

Weeping for what, this exactly what everyone pretty much said was going to happen, now if they sign him to an extension at 16per or higher, then yes they're will be weeping

This. Not sure I'm on board with the "long term" part but gotta keep key parts of the defense together and start drafting for offense. Steelers strategy appears to be to try and make one last run with Ben. Makes sense to me.

Exactly, they have Cam to resign, Watt and Nelson next offseason, and Minkah the year after, all 3 of those guys will be near the top paid at their position (if Nelson has another year like last year). Then you still have the offense to worry about.

You also have Ben off the market, JuJu probably leaves, Nelson won't get top dollar because he doesn't generate turnovers, and there will be a cap explosion. If Dupree signs here, it'll be top-10 money, maybe even top 5 right now. In two years, he'll look like a bargain because that's how the NFL works.

Dupree at 13 per is top 7, I'd be fine with that, he's not worth much more than that on a long term deal. Ben's contract won't be off the books until after 2021. I didn't say Nelson would be the highest paid, but he'll be up there, regardless of the turnovers, it's hard to get picks when no body throws at you, and with Haden's age, Nelson because almost a must sign. Bud had one very good season out of 5, I can't throw big money at him, to much of a risk to me.

JuJu is what 23, they need to try to keep him, had two great years with Ben, then JuJu was fighting injury last season. Dionte Johnson looked good, but they don't have much else there, Washington is meh.

The #Steelers did not put the exclusive franchise tag on Bud Dupree. They have done it only twice in their history -- Le'Veon Bell in back-to-back years.

I'm glad to see this was a priority. Long term deal would be even sweeter!

Anyone check on Coach??? He's probably living like an ostrich w/ his head in the sand...

Makes sense. Don't know what the difference is exactly, but if someone would pony up 2 First Round picks, run to the podium.

16 million for coverage sacks and a few at the lone of scrimmage, too much for a player that is no where near elite.

That is really a stretch. Watch the defensive highlights from last year again. Many are not coverage sacks and there are MANY examples of him flushing the QB and someone stepping up and getting home. Several tomahawk chops at the ball. He had a very good season. Prior to that I agree with you completely.

Really good move if they did the non-exclusive tag instead of the exclusive one. Very seriously doubt anyone would give up 2 x 1st round picks.
But if a team was dumb enough to do it, you would have to take it. They won't be able to sign him long-term with TJ coming up soon.

Ir won't matter either way as no one is giving two 1st rounders for him

Great news. Hope they can wrap-up a contract with Bud and keep the TJ - Dupree tag team in the Burgh for years to come.
