The Steelers have roughly 6.77 million in cap space next year. A very low amount compared to some other teams. Looking a the 2020 cap, the following Steelers in my opinion should be cut, unless they agree to a big-time reduction in salary.

1 ) Chickillo - Cutting him would save 5 million dollars on the cap. A no brainer, unless Durpee suffers a really bad type of injury or significant suspension.

2 ) Foster. Thanks for the years of service, Finney is just as good now, and cutting Foster would save the Steelers 4 million on the cap. The other option is kicking Filer inside to guard, but that can happen only if Okorafor can hold down the Right tackle spot.

3 ) McCullers. That big guy you hardly see on the field if cut would save the Steelers 1.5 million in cap space. Buggs is getting a chance to play a bit, if he shows something color McCullers gone.

Of coruse, I'd love to see the above players traded, but with their high cap number and mediocre ability, that is not likely!

Assuming the Steelers do cut all three players, it would increase the overall cap to 10,500.000, giving the team a total amount of cap space of $17,200.000

That's enough to franchise tag Dupree and fill in holes after the draft. Our best option, I think. Letting Dupree walk means we have no real starter at the other OLB spot, and Watt will be double-teamed on nearly every passing down.

If I had to guess, the Steelers will finish 7-9 to 9-7 and not make the playoffs, which means we would pick around 14th to 19th in round 2. Our 2nd round pick should be spent on a Running Back, or if the Steelers dare let Dupree go, on an Edge Rusher.

What a difference a year makes. I read your whole post and Franchising Dupree didn't jump out as strange. if you had posted that last year I would have just laughed and laughed.

With Hargrave likely lost, they will not drop McCullers. particularly when they don't have a full draft list. 1.5 mil is cheap in today's NFL.

And a year ago he was still slobbering on Chickislow.

Time ends old agendas and brings upon new.

Nope. Get it right. I only felt Chickillo was better than Jarvis Jones and should start over him and liked him sooo much I wanted Watt in round one .

Outside of that you nailed it

If they don't sign Dupree, they will probably try to sign Hargrave but I am not worried about losing him. Alual.u has been a great depth signing the last couple years. Hope he can stick around another year or two. $5 million on Chicklets just isn't worth it. He needs to go.

Keeping Hargrave or letting him go is a tough call. Depends what his market value is.

4-5 million, I say keep him. 7-8 plus million let him walk. In between that amount depends on the length of the contact and who wants him.

Hargrave likely gets 9 to 10 mil from 4-3 team. If you release Foster, you have to sign Finney to at least what Foster makes, so there is no cap savings.
Feiler is also an RFA, so he will get tendered in the 3 mil plus range, which will be another 3mil cap hit over his 2019 salary of 645K. Wouldn't surprise
me if our #2 pick is a guard.

Finney is a god damned sieve at LG. If they thought he was the answer there they wouldn't have brought Foster back.

Can't see paying Hargrave anywhere near $10 million. We already have a ton of money tied up in Cam and Tuitt. Plus, I see very little, if any, drop off when Alualu is in there for Hargrave. He seems replaceable to me, especially if he is going to want anywhere close to $10 million per.

let foster mcullers chickello go restructure ben and haden to restructure

hargrave is a keaper, he also should be used as a de at times as well.

Disagree wholly. This guy is more a pass rusher than a true NT. Defenses run right at him and he is constantly pushed out of position. Only keep him if we go true 4-3. Otherwise I'm not in favor of keeping Hargrave.

he is better suited as a 43 under but has held up well but a miod rnd 330 nt could replace him. maybe bugs but I see bugs asa long term replacement for cam or tuitt.

I've been wanting to see Buggs in the middle more. They can use Hargrave as a DE, but no sense paying him to back up Tuitt next year. Its clear that Big Dan isn't worth keeping any longer.

Hargarve is going to get a LOT more than 4-5 mil. I would bet he gets a 9-10 mil. contract from some team not named the Steelers.

under the radar guys if hargrave wants 6-7 mill to replace
A Shawn Robinson prototype NT Hampton type body can occupy 2 guys
Shelton a perfect guy that will plug and make it look like Hampton or wilfork are at NT
Justin Ellis was the guy I wanted instead of hargrave as I believed in the lebeau philosophy NT is just a dfat **** that is there clogg room.
Billings cheap upside
Hassan Ridgeway another cheap fat ****

It literally boggles my mind having passed on Bell and being done with Brown that this team could possibly be this tight against the cap. Not only does Tomlin need to be questioned for the on field decisions. Colbert and the rest if the FO need to be examined.

I know he was slimming down some. Not sure Buggs has enough *** for the middle.................

GASH Steel, now you got me thinking about *****
