What could have been...

Imagine if you had a ***** then you could go **** yourself. PS: smell and clown can go **** themselves too. Now if you want to soak in something other than jizz imagine seeing the Steelers in throwback attire and then the D decided to have a throwback performance that would have made the Steelcurtain proud.

that is the funniest outburst I have seen in a long time. BTW, I am so stealing the first 12 words for reuse.

one is not on any team and the other asshat is mediocre in NY Green, like many predicted. They went after the money. Not pride, the team or winning.

The Steelers are 5-4 with their 2nd year QB that is still learning the ropes and have Cleveland in 4 days. The picture is getting bigger and going on right now. No need to look back.

Imagine where this team could be right now with this defense and an uninjured Ben and Bell and Brown still wearing black & gold. Could’ve had something special. What a shame.
You won't see this type togetherness with other Bs on the team. Whatever was happened, it is all good for team and fans. We are building our next generation team, let's hope no more old virus impact and spoil the locker room atmosphere.

Ben is great but if he hadn't gotten injured we wouldn't have Fitzpatrick, Miami would've never have made the trade. So our defense wouldn't be as good. Brown and to a lesser extent Bell are locker room cancers we don't need.

Correct. I read that Miami had multiple first-round offers but they choose the Steelers because they thought it would yield the higher first-rounder.

Nope. Just keep taking the one game at a time approach.

Then again, we’d probably still be scratching our heads over how we lost to the Bengals and Dolphins.

I’m having funny thoughts about the Dolphins front office having fits every time the Steelers win another game due in no small part to Fitzpatrick’s play.

AB and Bell were cancers to the team. Glad they are gone and not looking back or asking what if. What if Fichtner knew how to call a game. What if our WR's didn't drop balls hitting them in their hands. What if our O-line didn't suck in run blocking? What if our o-line didn't continually get called for holding and kill drives in our opponents territory? They did that 2 or 3 times just last night. Those are the what ifs you can ask because the team has control over them. Cancer AB and Cancer Bell wanted out. Bell is now sucking in NY and AB is out of football. So, ******* glad they are gone!

Can't like this post enough!

Also, though, what if we didn't get a gift TD on a fairly obvious incomplete pass, and what if they called that PI on Edmunds in the end zone and they got 1st and goal on the one...

there was nothing obvious about that pass being incomplete and it wasn't clearly PI on Edmunds in the end zone....

( Eye roll and long sigh ).
Butterfly effect.
If "if" was a fifth.
If "ifs and buts" were candy and nuts.

I get frustrated when someone says something like, "Could you imagine if JuJu caught that one pass"?
No, and neither can you because altering that one play alters EVERYTHING that comes after as well.
ALL the situations change and football is situational, both on and off the field.

Do we have Bush if Shazier wasn't hurt?
Do we have Tomlin if the Rooney's aren't the owners?
Do we have Butler and Fichtner if Tomlin isn't coach?
Do we have Fitzpatrick if Lake and Perry were still on the team in their prime?

It SUCKS that Ben and Tuitt are hurt and out for the year. SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS.
It SUCKS that our O-Line misses Munchak more than we thought we would, and are starting to show signs of aging. SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS.
It SUCKS that Tomlin is the Obama of head coaches in that he can orate with the best of them, but doesn't have the actual action to back up his words. SUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS.

But here we are.
And while the early season was brutal to stomach, it's been kinda fun these last few games.
Our current team has the look of our 90s teams.
Lights out defense with a buttpucker offense.

Great points.

Minkah is the playmaker they so desperately needed back there in the secondary, and he wouldn't even be a Steeler if not for Ben's injury.

BTW, I agree that the OP's timing is a bit off, but Jesus, no need to rip the guy a new *******. I'm sure that the vast majority of us have pondered (at some point) what the Steelers fortunes might have been had Ben, Bell, and Brown been able to continue to produce offense together the way they once did.

Fact is in 2017 only 2 factors really prevented us from seeing what you’re proposing—on the field. The Shazier injury and Jesse James “catch”

That single call’s domino effect led to the Steelers losing the #1 seed, which was handed to the Patriots in the form of an extremely weak opponent in the Titans (instead of the Jaguars—who were hot that year).

The Steelers were simply better than New England that year. I never saw us losing in AFC Championship vs. either team—be it the higher pressure of the game or being fully stocked & healthy (remember the “loss” to Patriots came without Brown)

Also.. the bad luck of Shazier’s injury changed the dynamic of the entire D.

However when you look back, see how many games in 2017 were last second wins vs. inferior opponents that we blamed Tomlin for ....

How much drama was going on in that locker room that we don’t know about? It was enough to make Ben talk retirement after all. There are players that still have problem with Bell’s holding out...

And Brown didn’t just erupt one day last year... it’s obvious that’s been brewing for years.

This team is 100x more a “team” then that group ever was, hence they are overcoming more adversity.

I just hope that Ben comes back next year 100% healthy. If so, with extra experience gained from Washington & Johnson at WR, Samuels at RB (and please a healthy Connor).... we’ll see a great “team”

The three never won anything significant together there was no team approach but two individuals who loved them some them. Those two asshats were more of a problem than a solution. Steelernation is focusing in on the now a new healthy team environment / unity. Man just imagine if **** didn't stink we wouldn't have to flush it down a toilet. **** those two pieces of ****.

I'd say that they never won anything significant together because the defense stank at the time. You can't contest the numbers these three put up at their apex. Not winning a championship when they clearly had a great opportunity probably led to those "pieces of ****" developing bad attitudes. Not saying it's right, but it's reality. Once upon a time, none of us had a problem with either of those guys.

Couldn't have been.

Tomlin said he doesn't play defense the same with Ben Roethlisberger at QB. They play less aggressively and essentially, "not to lose".

Mike Tomlin is the suck.
Maybe so but the real difference here is the coverage. Nelson and Haden are covering people all over the place. Inside coverage is great. Even Edmund's isn't terrible. It's not even close to the past defensive backfield.
