BREAKING: DL Stephon Tuitt OUT FOR THE SEASON with Torn Pectoral

Who said anyone "sucked balls"???

Again, the comment is---"the defense has vastly improved since the addition of Minkah Fitzpatrick". Nothing more.

Hines57 shows that we've have 15 forced turnovers in 6 games. How many did we have last year collectively??? I'll answer it for you - we were at -11 after the ENTIRE SEASON. Minkah has one interception and 2 force fumbles.

I will ask, again, name one safety coming out of college, this year, who will give this impact??? The answer is - we DO NOT KNOW because there isn't one. I will eat the crow, if I'm proven wrong next year, but I stand by the decision on improving the team by trading for Minkah.

5 turnovers against SF and we got what, 6 points off them? We convert and score TDs and there's a win. The game v the Rats with the bullshit play calling should have been a win as well. That puts us at 4-2.

This defense is a top 5, maybe top 3 D right now. Losing Tuitt hurts hard as he was really getting great push into the backfield. That side of the field has suffered against the run however. With them now bringing Hargrave over to play DE and it looks like Big Dan, Buggs and AluAlu with get a rotation going the D will have some big bodies to hold the line.

All this bullshit about passes in the middle of the field is nonsense. The defense's job is to stop the other team from scoring each time they have the ball. Besides the Pats game, they've been very good at that. They gassed v Seattle and SF. They probably were on their heels some v SD but still made plays to finish the game. These next two weeks are critical for the guys banged up to get some rest and hit the 2nd half of the season hard.

We need our offense to come together more with the passing game.

you're rambling back and forth.
you're also comparing Fitzpatrick to Bush. One plays Safety, the other plays Linebacker.
If you're unable to see that our defense is playing much better since the acquisition of Fitzpatrick, then ... go look at the stats. First 3 games of the season, we were giving up 28 ppg. Last three games, we're giving up 14.3 ppg. We've given up 43 points over our last 3 games. But, you know that since you've poured yourself into the stats to build your argument that our defense is not any better since adding Fitzpatrick.
I'm comparing a guy who has six turnovers in 6 games and a guy who has like 5 for his career. Points per game? Really. Two games. One against the 6 time world champion team and perennial playoff team and one with him against the Bungles. I think that skews your stat just a tad.
And I'm not even gonna **** on Fitzpatrick. He has done his job. But a Tampa two safety at 10. That's like the best guard or centre top ten.

You're mixing apples and oranges...

We all know the pain points that the offense is having - losing Ben has been a big challenge but the offense is coming around. We lost every game, besides the *'s, by no less than 4 points.

The point is - and you're agreeing IMO - the defense is LIGHT YEARS better than the defense last year and we're still playing thru injuries on that side.

Give these boys a chance to gel and we could come out w/ 9 or 10 wins...but that's me - Mr. Optimistic.

Again, what SAFETY are you selecting between 1-10 in the draft that is better than Minkah???

Unless he is a projected all pro like Reed or Polamalu probably none. Certainly not in the system the Steelers are playing. Unless I can see him in the TV screen consistently he simply cannot influence the play enough to matter and justify that high of a pick. I don't need a top ten drafted safety to do what they are doing. Now if he matched up against Hunter Henry or Kittle and erased those guys from the game. Now you are talking. Top ten picks are for QBs, pass rushers, shutdown corners, tackles and then game changers at wr, running back maybe TE. Not safety and guards/centres.

Who would you be looking at assuming we had a top 10 pick

Tuitt get better for next season man, what a bummer. Welcome back LT Walton. Also looking forward to seeing Buggs out there, that kid has some skills.

Another thing to think about in regards to the defense is the O does them no favors as they are one of the worst TOP teams. Hopefully Rudy can get comfy enough to where the O isn't toward the bottom of the woodpile.

Really. So TJ Watt and Devin Bush don't look more promising to you. I think some of you need to go to the stats on this. He has two more interceptions and less than 10 more pass defenses them Edmunds. Tackles are pretty close and he played an extra year. I'm hearing bust grumblings about Edmunds.

Safety or CB picks...I have no faith in Tombert. Fitz May turn out to be a disappointment, but he is a first round pick and a known commodity that at least does not look like a Burns or Edmonds or Davis type pick....so far.

Well the college football season ( that I don't watch closely )hasn't even finished yet so if you are fishing me for a name I cannot give you one. But ask yourself this. Where do the vast majority of Pro Bowl players come from? Where do the vast majority of franchise QBs come from?

Fitz was drafted by someone else, so it's pretty much automatic that he'll be better. Now our top three DB's all came from other teams.

I agree those positions may be more important, but our back end has needed SOMETHING for some time and they have missed on picks to fix it. I’d also suggest we don’t win XL or XLIII without first round pick Troy, a safety (despite his huge head lol).

Edmund's was the 28th overall pick. Burns was the 25th. After 20 that is where the guestimation really comes in. 1-15 are for the very most part consensus talents that even a casual follower could pick a damn good player. Those are the guys with the tape and the workout. Like do you guys honestly ****** believe that Alabama Crimson Tide wont produce an absolute stud available at pick 1.10 or slightly higher. Really.

I'm kind of excited to see what Buggs will do. He'll have a solid 2 weeks to get ready. Plus the play Miami. So it will be just like a college game for him. He may have 5 sacks!!

Well it is not Fitzpatrick's fault, but he does not get to play the game like Troy Polamalu. Polamalu was all over the field and had to be accounted for on every play. He is not Polamalu and the defense is not predicated on that. I would have liked to see him cancel Hunter Henry but again that is not his call. Therefore, no he is not worth a top ten pick. If the Steelers win more than 6 I would say there could be reasonable value in the trade. 6 or less they got ****** fleeced.

That is if they let him play with Walton's signing. I'd personally like to see him get a hat.

Nobody is Polamalu I think that is an unfair comparison.

I know the Steelers just signed LT Walton, but what is up with FA Muhammad Wilkerson? I believe he is a 3-4 DE and has had a pretty decent career. I know he had a serious injury last year, but is he healthy now? If so, why has no one signed him? Just thinking about players to replace Tuitt...

I liked Muhammad Wilkerson ever since he came out of the draft. Not sure what's going on lately though so I can't really say why he's not signed with someone.

I can't speak for him but I think he means more of his ability to do it all and also the amount of leeway they gave Troy to do what he wanted to do. But yeah, there will never be another like Troy. I really hope they mend fences.

True. They still may not play him but I'd sure like to see him. It would be a shame not to at least play him some against Miami just to see what you have. Miami is trying to tank the season. Give the kid a chance.

Yeah what did he do to seemingly get in the dog house? I thought he'd be in the DL rotation much more than he's been.

That is exactly what I was saying. If all you are getting is a guy who improves your Tampa Two scheme WTF is that. If I'm talking about a top ten pick I'm looking for a Watt, Bush type player in terms of impact on the play. If their plan is to play Fitzpatrick as they have. To not have him negate the best inside players in man coverages or if he isn't hawking the ball instinctively as a zone safety putting fear to throw over the middle then I'm sorry but that is a horrible trade. In a season where you lost your qb and you will be scratching your *** to get 7 wins.

Not sure he is in the dog house, they just haven't felt comfy enough with his play of now in practice I would presume. So hard for a lower round rookie to get snaps ..a hat especially on the d-line which was deep positionally. Now with Tuitt out he should have more opportunities.
