I have not lost hope on this season. This team has faced more drama than any... the AB saga, losing a hall of fame starting QB, death of a beloved coach & now losing their promising backup QB possibly for a few weeks. Yet, they still fight and have lost 3 of their last 4 by a combined 9 points. The defense is on the rise & finally beginning to look like their old selves. The addition of Fitzpatrick has made them competitive. I believe Hodges & Rudolph are more capable QBs than many of the starters around the league. Today was unfortunate and despite the loss, they were the better team. Record be darned, they are trending upward. I believe they are capable of beating any team left on their schedule. Yes, I may be a complete homer but it's not unrealistic to say that they are playing good, competitive football. Anyone who lived through & believed in them during the 1989 season should understand. Shout out to that team who also had a young defense that ended up making some noise.

We easily can make a run, but with this staff its hard to envision that... even if we won the next five games, we have a history of believing the hype and choking away winnable games when it matters most.

I can see us going 7-4 down the stretch and all the talking heads saying how close we were in these losses and how MT still never had a losing season or how if we only had ben we would be fine, bit we know this staff coaches up or down to the opponents... so i will hold out hope we really turn it around, but not that much hope...

They showed a lot of fight out there, almost beat the 'mighty' Ravens with an undrafted rookie FA playing QB.

All this, after the trauma and heartache of seeing their teammate get knocked out, laying motionless on the turf.

I'm proud of this squad, the way they're sticking together and fighting tooth and nail. It's been a lot to digest, the 1-4 start, the loss of coach Drake, Ben's season-ending injury, now the scary hit on Rudolph. Two late fumbles have cost them two games. The season is still long enough to give us some hope. Even with our 4th string, practice squad QB leading the charge. With the D playing as they are, we'll have plenty of opportunity to turn this into a respectable season. It's times like this I love this team more than ever. Go Steelers.

Good post, never give up hope. With the D playing on such a high level, we can still win some games. O-Line looked better yesterday, so establishing the run with Conner / Samuels should take some pressure off Duck, even though he looked surprisingly comfortable and cool yesterday.

What was the old Steelers formula again back then? Hard defense and run first? Hmmm....

Our chances of making the playoffs were iffy before Ben got hurt. Shades is now 2-8 in his last 10 games going back to last season.

2-8 and counting Ronnie. This is going to get very ugly before someone in that F O realizes you have a fraud for a H C.
A good H C and staff could have this team 4-1 right now. Poor game planning, no adjustments, poor play calling, terrible decision making and time management, mid-use of players, on and on.

Baltimore has the 29th ranked run D, we rushed for 77 yards as a team, and that's good???
****, I said before the game that they'd pass since running the ball would be what the Rats were expecting.

The people running this team are calling halfback passes from inside their own 10 yardline. Let that sink into your hope.

This......the players have the necessary talent and have shown themselves to be on a path to being a good football team. I wish we could say the same for the ownership and the staff. Our only real coach bailed before the season started, think about that for a minute.

Put me in the "guardingly optimistic" camp. Fingers crossed that is.

with the addition of Mincah and Bush developing every game, I could see us getting to 9 wins this year. that might win the division.

The play calling on third down this year has been abysmal and that alone should get fichtner canned. I’m of the belief that a truly good OC would reduce the damage that having Tomlin as HC does. I agree that we should be 3-2 at worst right now but for a couple plays and bad calls, but I don’t see us winning too many more games this year with only defense playing well. Maybe 3 or 4.

CBS has us at 22 percent chance of making the playoffs still lol pretty high actually. If Browns lose tonight, it’ll go up higher.

For some reason, I think I was more confident we could score when Duck was at QB. He just seems less cautious and just a gun slinger, I think that’s what we need right now.

Hey, we were 7-2-1 last year and then lost games late in the season. Maybe it’ll be the opposite this year with the weak schedule late in the year. Coaching will still be a problem but... cautiously optimistic.

I'm sorry, but that was all on Jaylen. It was a designed pass play out of the wildcat. If the guy's open you toss it to him, if not, either keep it or simply chuck it out of bounds. The play broke down, the receiver - I think it was Washinton - was bumped off his route by the defender. Samuels should never have thrown the ball. Calling a play like that is not my taste, Fichtner gets way too cute too often, but that pick was a bad decision by Samuels.

do you know why they're ranked 29th? I'll give you 165 reasons why.
it wasn't Kenyan Drake's 12 yards
It wasn't David Johnson's 14 yards
It wasn't Damien Williams' 62 yards
It wasn't LeSean McCoy's 54 yards

I like the fight in the team. I like the way the defense is playing. I really like Hodges and think he can win us some games. BUT this years team appears snakebite for some reason. The QB injuries, Fumbles or penalties at horrible times, etc. and I never go into a weekend thinking we will outcoach the opponent. I'm hoping for the best but I think the best we can get this year may be a .500 season.

The Steelers are 13 points from being 4-1, but close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. They are finding a way to lose instead of a way to win. I’m betting they put together a couple impressive win streaks only to have their playoff chances die once again due to an inexplicable loss or two to NFL bottom dwellers like the Dolphins and Bengals.

You're not crazy, until we are mathematically OUT I cheer every week and hope to make it in. If it so happens that we don't make it or are actually mathematically out at some point this season, I'll still cheer for the wins, and look forward to what next year will bring. I'll be honest, not many losses hit me like yesterdays did. I just had a feeling we were going to find a way to win this game, right down to the last play, I don't often get that feeling, but when I do I'm usually right. I was wrong yesterday, and it sucked to get that gut punch, but next week will be here, and all the statistical "a team starting x and x hasn't made the playoffs since y, **** that ****. This league is different every year, and every year some team does something that right up till they did it no other team had done. Next week is a new opponent, and this team will rally, will it be enough, we won't know till next week, but I'll be right there watching every ******* snap and cheering just like every game since 1989.

You dont put that player, in that situation at that point in the game.

Hell I know that and didn't even stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Like I will say to the bitter end....Get a new coaching staff from top to bottom.
