Good article and a nice read. Foster would be my choice for two reasons, not a high cost and body size / speed.

One thing for sure is you have to be careful as trading away draft picks W-I-L-L come back to haunt you and currently the STEELERS are right on that edge.

I'd be all for it. Right now the Steelers are two WRs short. As DM and Switz offer very little in production.

Can't see us even considering a trade for a WR. At this point, not something I would even consider for this season.

Meh it depends on the long term prognosis for the player... we should not be grabbing one season stop gaps, but if you think a guy can help for three seasons...or the entire potential end of Bens career, then absolutely you do it... draft picks are low percentage gambles... especially 4th and later picks... even first rounders have a 50% bust rate...

You cannot do that with any regularity, of course... because seven bets are more likely to have a high quality, low cost gem in it than just one or two... and most trades get you a known quantity, not a super bargain....

But in the case of the end of a hof franchise qb career it does make sense since most rookies are not going to contribute much for a season or two....
 
All 4 of these teams are playoff contenders, why would they want to trade decent receivers?

Did you guys ever think that maybe they are making the team better now so when Ben comes back he has the supporting cast so we can make a run??

Don't have time for rookies to develop

I don't have a problem with a trade if you get what you need when you need it. It just seems like the Steelers are trying to keep Tomlin from having his only losing season. I don't want to mortgage the future just to save his precious record. I know draft picks are risky but they are cheap and you can't build a team through trades and FA. You have to draft your team. The best players on this team were draft picks. You want to give up a Rudolph type pick (a 3rd round pick) for a WR that costs a ton more and might help you win 8 games this year?

So if we trade for another Moncrief and don't draft a JuJu in the 2nd round how is that better? I'd rather take a chance in the draft than trade for a "known" commodity that may not be as known as people think. Just look at all the bold predictions about how great Moncrief was going to be. But now everyone wants Washington (a draft pick) to start and Moncrief to be cut.

How about Barron. A great known player right? It isn't as easy as "just trade for a guy".

Because everyone on the team is better than him. If they cut Moncrief, which I doubt they would do due to the dead money, they might sign Eli but they might sign someone else as well. The next 3 games will determine if our season is over anyway. Lose tonight or against the Rats and it's definitely on life support.

JuJu is in his 3rd year. He was very good in his first year. Moncrief is bad in whatever year he is in. Just because the player is a vet doesn't mean they are good. Right now would you trade the pick (2nd round) that turned into JuJu? How about the 3rd round pick that they used for Rudolph? You going to trade it? It's easy in hindsight but the fact is our best players are from the draft.

There is no way this team is going to win with or without Ben by giving away draft picks.

He was the first one to come to mind, if we want to keep our pick(s) for an able WR. I think you have to give Montcrief one more chance before any move is made. Give him a shot tonight and if fails this audition, do whatever you have to going forward. 0-4 or 1-3 makes a big difference if you bring in Rogers, trade or keep Butterfingers.

Funny, this past draft was SOOOOOOOOOOO Deeeeeeeeeeep with wideouts, & alot of them are already making names for themselves...

We missed out on some real Blue-Chippers...

Yeah let's build a team around a 38 year old QB coming off an elbow injury. The same team coached by the same moron who couldn;t win a championship with Ben in his prime and with great talent like AB and Bell. These trades are nothing but to try and save Tomlin form a 4-12 record, have to prop up the moron.

Ya, I don't cut Moncrief yet until you know his fingers are healed and that's not the issue. But we all know the Steelers are clueless on how to rest a guy with injured fingers until they heal. Sweed was the perfect example and we apparently learned nothing. I would have had him sit for at least 2 weeks with no contact with a ball whatsoever. Then start bringing him back. They could have done that during camp but apparently didn't. Moncrief didn't drop balls like this before. This is new. So, it's either his fingers; he needs glasses; or he just mysteriously forgot how to catch the ball like Boz forgot how to kick last year.

Moncrief is not a bad WR. Not 100% sure what the issue is but the only thing we know for sure is he ****** up his fingers. So, I'd start there but unfortunately, I'm not the coach.

Yea, I don't know what his issue is and like you said, he seemed like a solid WR in JAX, hence why we signed him. Hopefully, he is sitting to heal, if it's fingers.
 
The thing is this guys: The consensus was BEN WOULD MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD FOR MONCRIEF....

Ben is out...
