Ask Drunk Cope 4/11/19

Cooking BACON near my Beacon, on my tractor. Missed you to Cope.

I've been wintering well as we experienced the 2nd COLDEST February ever recorded for our parts. Got a new rowing (high end) machine and been hitting that to help get ready for up coming KAYAK racing season. Right NOW battling major snow storm so I'm in the midst of snow removal.

1). Thoughts on Mendenhall comments this morning?? I commented on the podcast. Mendy was wrong about AB having deciding not to play the last game. The decision was made for him by Coach Tomlin, to sit. Not sure about the racist thing, It's the first I said from Ben, and his linemen are coming to get Ben's back now, so I don't know what Mendy was thinking. He also recanted it later saying Ben wasn't a racist, so there's that...

2.) Is ab ever going to shut his pie hole??? Not until someone shuts it for him, or he gets humbled, and that ain't happening anytime soon. He's going to be a trainwreck when his talents fade.

3). Way early win / loss record for up coming season No idea. We need a defense. It's been too long, and the D needs to help balance this offense, which should still be pretty efficient. I see the O as a top 10 O, the D, if it gets up inside the top 8, can be game changing this season, but they have to get turnovers also. Yards alone aren't going to make for a great defense.

4). How will my garden fair this up coming grow season?? I'm hoping it won't be as wet last year. The only reason why we got a yield and your neighbors didn't? Raised beds. Might have to do that to increase your yield this year!

Was thinking on sending you a PM to see how you were doing and low and behold here yaz are. I must have heard you thinking!!

Wow, Glad you dug out. Answers above.

Hey Cope! Glad to see you.

Who do you think the Steelers will draft in the first round this year? Who do you want the Steelers to draft? And what do you think is really wrong with AB?

Hey SW! Good to see you as well!

Steeler's D is missing an athletic, game changing ILB. Steelers may move up to grab one, or a lockdown corner. Other than that, there really isn't much need, other than depth this season. We're going to need to draft a TE as well. Losing the Outlaw will hurt us, unless we replace it. WRs are nice, but I don't know if it's a need after picking up Moncrief and Switzer's role should increase. Also want to see some Sanders as a slot in the pass attack. We ran a jet sweep last year with Switzer in the slot, would rather see Sanders do it.

I know people are speculating CTE with AB, but I don't believe it. He's not being aggressive, he's being an *******. He started off working hard, and humble. As time went on, he became more negative. He's caused all of this hate and negativity by his own actions, and refuses to take responsibility for his own problems. That makes for a Big *******, when you add millions of dollars to it.

EDIT: Samuels, not Sanders...

Do you think Tomlin is on watch by the Front office this year, since they haven't offered an extension?

I think he should be. This organization is loyal to a fault at times. I think he going to bat for Butler, for the past 2 years, has put us in a position where the failure to make a move is on him, if the Steelers D continues to flounder. This D is athletic and fast. They just need to be coached to be in the right place, and they can be a very good D. I was hoping for Gregg Williams. All that guys does is come in to organizations and make their D better through scheming and coaching. That's what we need. Not an overthinker who continues to send mixed signals and confuse young players.

Hey Welcome back Cope!

Has redoing your kitchen made you rethink maybe quitting your job and becoming a full time contractor?

Lots of perks.....supposedly.

No, I work from home, so I love my job. Work wise, I only did the back splash, the pull chain on the attic and I'm building a new dining room table. Other than that, I was the contractor. I coordinated the GC, electrician, plumber, flooring, HVAC, Countertops, and wood worker. My timing was so good I had the entire project done from demo through first cooked meal, in 28 days. A lot of finishing touches afterward, but I can do a lot of that.

Given the loss of Brown, how much can we expect the Farmer's role to expand this year, and can the Steelers take advantage of McDonald's athleticism in combination with Conner as a greater and greater outlet threat?

Secondly, as the feature back that demonstrated he can survive and entire season, can we expect greater things in the running game from Conner this season? Particularly in light of the loss of Brown?

I really like Conner. If he stays healthy, he's a pro bowl caliber back. He's also a good pass catcher. Jaylen is a better one, but Conner can do it all.

I think Samuels, Conner, Switzer, and McDonald all get more looks this year. Having Moncrief helps the Z position, because it was absent last year. Terrible production there. Perhaps Washington can run the X or help in the slot, but he was a big disappointment. I think they almost have to move JuJu to the X and out of the slot this year to counteract the loss of AB.

Cope, welcome back lad! Quick question for you. Will we draft a receiver in round two or will we wait until day three?

Picking up Moncrief means WR is not a priority this year. JuJu was a 2nd rounder and he's a stud. Washington was a 2nd rounder and he's dead weight. I hope Washington improved his route running, because it was holding him back last year and he couldn't separate. If the right talent falls in the 2nd, there is a possibility of picking one up, but I'd think we'd grab a WR day 3. I'm actually more interested in picking up a TE day 2. We need depth, and if we find someone who can ball and stretch the seams, then all the better!

Your thoughts on my latest musing please: a TE would help more the O than any WR in this draft. Having 2TE sets available with McD and a Fant/ Hock should open up more the playbook and be a nightmare for opposing Ds on goal line situations

As you can see from my previous posts, I am 100% with you. I don't like that the Steelers failed to use the dual threats of McDonald and Outlaw in the passing game last year, but the Ravens use the 2 and 3 so well, we have to do something to help possess the clock and move the football. So yes a #2 TE would be a priority over a #3/4 WR

Have you seen the video of the Auburn gymnast breaking both her legs and dislocating both knees?

Yes I did. At first I thought it was a dual hyperextension of both knee joints, which usually blows out your PCLs. When I watched it a few times, you actually see the break just below the knees. That is such a freak thing. That much power, and force, and adrenaline, paired with hitting the ground with her knees locked at the exact wrong moment. Absolutely terrible to see. I hope she fully heals from that.

Nice job Cope. Awesome sink choice. Are your cabinets stock supplied or are they special order? I see the wifey demanded a cooking island and you provided. Nice work!

On to football.....While I don’t foresee any issues contract wise from Davis, he did hire Rosenhaus. Which seems to think safety might be selected this year in the later rounds. The Maryland kid, Savage, seems to be moving up the boards. He looks to have great coverage range....Late Day 2 or early Day 3 possibility?

Plus, Justin Hollins from Oregon’s, have you had a chance to see his tape? Intriguing prospect in rd 4 or 5.

I did my kitchen mostly myself with a little help from my now-ex-father-in-law. Turned a small kitchen and small breakfast nook into a larger eat-in kitchen. Completely gutted the whole area. It turned out really nice though. Took me three months. Yours looks great.

I'd love to. I noticed a Steeler bar there when I was driving to the high school. My sister in law lives there, so we'll be back. I'll shoot you a PM the next time we're in town!

Sounds good!

Ah man, ****. Don't know what to say brother, I just know you deserve so much more. JFC. Ugh, is it coming back on anytime soon?
It came back a couple of hours later, thing is , there's no programming, you never know when will it be gone and for how long. We were 72 hours without electricity a couple of weeks ago. Fortunately with diesel plants we could stay relatively comfortable during the crisis, but few persons have that luxury

Cope, NICE remodel , looks great. I'm glad you put the Island in as they add so MUCH to everything. HUGE awesomeness. You sound like a whip at side task master so I'm guessing the other sub-contractors were hustling to keep up.......(lol). Thanks for sharing pics
