was watching nfl channel tonight. free agency stuff. then they went into the top 10 receivers of the 2000s Hines was number 5. with all the AB **** the last several years, I forgot about how great Hines was.
Great Blocker, Great receiver, great Steeler! lets hope he is the next Steeler to get into the Hall of fame..

Great dude. Unfortunately the next two Steelers to get into the HOF won't be him. Troy is eligible this season, and Faneca still needs in.

Starting to think Faneca might have to wait awile. would love it if Troy and Hines went in the same year but that wont happen

I'd like to see L.C. Greenwood,Donnie Shell,Troy,Faneca and Ward all go in next year.

I'd drive from Florida to go see that.

Obviously Greenwood would have to be presented by family or friends.

Always loved Ward. He is an under appreciated WR. Hell he played without an ACL. He should go to the HOF just for that. He also loved football and loved his team.... unlike some stupid *** players today.

Hines is my favorite type of player. I guy that grinds and gives everything he has and does it with a sense of joy. His passion for the game is what made a slightly above athlete an all time great player.

Loved Hines one of my favorite players ever, true team guy and true Steeler. Probably the best blocking WR of all time.

When it comes to Ward, he doesn't get enough credit for playing with **** QBs and a run first team and still putting up numbers before the league went pass happy. He was 28 when Ben came along. He had his second best season statistically at the age of 33 or 32. He is underappreciated because of the numbers WRs put up now with the rules skewed toward the offense so much.

At least he remains atop The Steelers record books.

I was saying this in one of the AB threads. What Ward brought was immeasurable. Favorite memory...him taking out, i think it was Ed Reed, with a block that wasnt seen coming. He was a force in his own right and he could throw a decent touchdown pass on top of it. Love the guy.

Greatest blocking WR ever! I have an autographed jersey of his I bid on at an auction.
Have this huge poster I got him to sign in training camp. I remember one training camp I followed him and a few other players (stalker) lol. ****** bobbed and weaved his way up in traffic. Driving a perfect route for the getaway.

Ward was a tone setter, you rarely if ever get that from a WR and he has the stats to match, absolutely should make the HOF

Although the fact Faneca isn't in there is criminal, possibly the best OG ever to play, should've went in ahead of Mawae(spelling center from Jets)

So glad AB didn't get the all time team receiving records away from Hines. Hines Ward played with his heart and his soul on his sleeve.

Faneca and Troy should be locks.
Troy for sure.

Hines wasn't a fancy WR, but he did a lot more than the position required.
That alone should warrant some HOF nod somehow

For that reason. Hines never had a chance to shine early in his career, yet he was still a threat on the field.
He used to flip over guys in college. His athleticism and his career in general is underrated.

I remember not just his blocking, but he was a hard to take down ball carrier. He would hold his own against LBers and safeties

He rarely dropped a pass, he is best known for his blocking, but he had great hands and ran great routes. I wonder how many WR's had 1,000yard receiving seasons with 3 different starting QB's?
He showed up big in big games, through Super Bowl 40 he averaged 100 yards receiving per playoff game.

Odd fact. Despite being a pretty good QB at Georgia Hines only threw 2 passes in his NFL career and his only completion for 17 yards was as a rookie. He never threw a TD pass with the Steelers. I think the great passing WR you are thinking of was Randle-El

Only own 2 jerseys, Hines and Troy.

GOD, but I miss when players gave a ****.

Kevin Greene and Bettis. Probably will be the last I buy

Not to mention he did this all without an acl in his left knee
