Wtf, I thought it was clear this is the role they envisioned for him when they signed him, hybrid S/LB. Don't let the door hit ya'

we should of signed Kenny Vaccaro instead.

After he bled his guts out to James Jones he wants out. ******* dork.

He didn't workout, best to let him fly the coop. Bring in a upgrade this time Tombert.

How bow dat.

I think if we release him we save about 3 million on the cap. Not bad! I wonder where that puts us then total cap available?

I thought they drafted Edmunds to play the hybrid LB piece and Burnette was supposed to be the traditional safety.

Personally he sucked all year until December. Couldn't stay healthy, and stole Marcus Allen's ability to play. I'd rather have Allen over Burnett, and this is addition by subtraction.

He was going to cost $5 mil in 2019, he wouldn’t have been kept at that price anyway as a backup. Hey wanted out before FA started to so as to get a jump early.

Maybe he was like, ****, as soon I got here I started sucking. I need to leave before all my value is gone. Particularly with the secondary, we don't seem to put players in positions to succeed, and don't seem to develop them well.

I couldn't even tell when he was p[laying. I guess I won't miss him then.

my understanding was he could play both roles and would lead to Edmunds learning behind him.

either way, dude didn't turn out to be anything more than JAG in this truly amazing system being deployed. Edmunds should be starting next year as the S/LB hybrid anyway. Release the fool.

And Tomlin's Flying Trapeze act continues

We need more smoke, obviously

The shitshow must go on

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Steelers S Morgan Burnett wants to be released prior to free agency

Burnett reportedly felt as if he played out of position with the Steelers as a linebacker in dime packages and wants a fresh start. He has two years remaining on his current deal. If granted his release, Burnett would likely sign on with an interested team as a full-time safety.

How 'bout putting the guy back in the proper position, where he's played his entire NFL career?

I wonder if he would be so willing to be let go by paying a percentage of his signing bonus back...............

Regardless, once an employee says he wants to quit it's best to send em packing. THIS isn't Ben's or Tomlin's or FO's fault. The guy just wants a fair-shake at playing his perceived position.

Salute the nation

Yea, can’t be too upset about this. He didn’t work out in Pittsburgh and wants another “fresh start” before his career is over. It probably benefits both parties to grant his request at this point.
