Feel bad for Ben.

I'm not a Tomlin apologist in fact I'd probably celebrate if they got rid of him but I still have no problem with the fake punt. Our D has continually failed to stop teams from game winning drives. He gambled and lost. My biggest issue with Tomlin today was 3rd and 2 and you bring Ridley out and in that formation just basically tell the Saints we are running it. That was by far a worse coaching call in my opinion. Ben was on fire you put the ball in his hands and live and die that way.

That logic makes no sense. If you don’t trust your defense to hold a team from going 80 yards, why would you give it to them with 40. If the last TD is spotted at the 1/2 yard line, we get the ball back with around 20 seconds on the clock.

We need to take advantage of Ben playing at this high level. Who’s to say he won’t age a bit next season. We had a lot of bad luck season, not a lot things went our way in these close games.

Not bad luck, bad coaching, AGAN!!!!!!!!

Bad luck can always be overcome with good coaching.

Like it ******* matters who they draft with that ******* moron in charge.

They could time-travel Joe Greene to his absolute prime and the idiot ******* coach would use him as a dime corner.

Very true!!!

The only good thing about missing the playoffs would be a top 20 pick in the draft. We haven't had one of those in a while. And, hopefully, Tomlin and Colbert won't **** it up.

You're ******* kidding, right?

Can you even IMAGINE them NOT ******* it up?

That the fact jack

FIRE TOMLIN!

The clown circus with this fake punt bug eyed moron has to end, obviously

Hahaha LMAO, I'm surprised it took page three for someone to try bash him.
We had a 23-7 lead vs the Chargers, and the defense and Tomlins brilliant idea to cover Allen with a LB allowed the Chargers to score 18 points in the 4th. Have the lead in Oakland, he leaves Ben in the bench while Dobbs sucks ***, suddenly he let's Ben in and we drive right down and score, but we allow 14 points in the 4th to Oakland, he's the only reason we won at Jax, and what he did vs that D in the road should've been applauded more, but instead after that game all anyone wanted to do was ***** about how bad he played early

29 td's 24 interceptions in all playoff game appearances up to now....enough said. Crappy performance in SB 40 which you can cut him some slack he was practically a rookie and a lethargic performance against a pathetic Cardinals team in 43, which if not for Harrison's record setting int and Holmes brilliant play would have been lost.

I love Ben as much as anyone on the planet, dude has always been a warrior, but dude has some serious flaws in his game and his personality. Why does personality matter?

Because it's that personality that has caused a lot of the chaos on this team. From throwing Haley under the bus after Haley helped extend his career and turn him into a true pocket passer, to saying he was going to retire and making the team wonder what the deal was and wasting a pick on Rudolph and on and on.

Nothing against Rudolph he has the look of being another franchise qb, but we'll see when his time comes. If nothing else he lit a fire under Ben which was good.

Ben is Ben. Like I said before I loved him since he came in for Maddox in 04, but I don't have a man crush to the point of being delusional about him like some.

That’s the point; we’re gonna get the ball back with, at worst, enough time on the clock to drive into field goal range for the tying FG attempt. We’ve already seen this year that we don’t need more than 1:10 or so. I agree with whoever said it earlier, the worst call of the game was Ridley in the game on third down. That **** had no business being in the game, especially after Samuels just reeled off some nice runs. By and large, we took the ball out of the air pretty much from the 11:00 minute mark of the fourth quarter. Still, though, the defense did make the stop. Don’t care what anyone really says, or if it comes off as sour grapes; Haden was hosed BIG time twice yesterday. Hell, going back to last weekend, he had another bs PI call on him. Yeah, the Steelers have been on the good side of some calls, but I can’t remember many (if any) that have had such a profound impact on the game; they are literally game-changing penalties. Even some of the talking heads in the media are calling it out. Yeah, 3rd and 20, and all that jazz; they made the stop on fourth down only to have it come crashing down when the receiver, Brees starting crying for the flag.

You realize this team won’t win more than 4 games once Ben retires, right? And yeah let’s forget the brilliant PASS by Ben in SB 43 or that whole drive with one of the worst OLs in SB history. Ben should have been MVP of that game. You’re clearly the delusional one. To even bring Ben up as an issue after that loss is mind blowing and just weird.

Ben was 33 of 50 for 380 yards, 3 TDs and 0 ints. He had a 108.7 Passer rating. Ben is the only thing keeping this team afloat. Also Holmes missed the easier pass the play before. Ben should have been the MVP and if it were any other QB he would have been. He still had a 93.2 PR.

i still think Harrison should have been mvp, but couldn't go wrong with ben either

I wouldn't have a problem with that either. It's just that the QB almost always gets the award if he plays well. Ben played really well and deserved the award IMHO.

And behind a horrible Oline. If Brady, Manning, Rodgers, Brees made that drive to win a Super Bowl, they'd still be talking about it and they would've been MVO Ben absolutely should've been MVP, he made a perfect pass before that that holmes didn't catch.
Harrison's play came in the first half, it was a great play, but it didn't win the game.
As for Superbowl 40 yeah he had poor stats and rating, but he still made plays that helped us win. The scramble on 3rd and 28 to hit Ward at the 1 and convert it. He scored the first TD. He made a block that gave El a clean throw in his TD to Ward. He checked to the big td run play to Parker (per Faneca), he made a back hand flip on another 3rd down conversion before the Election td.
I guess we're not going to talk about his play in the 3 playoff games leading up to that?

And the playoff games on the way to the superbowl. Hell the one for the thumb was all on the road with an epic *** kicking in Denver.

The last of Cowhers players doesn't have many years left. In the last 50 years the Steelers have had two top notch HOF qbs. They're not a dime a dozen. What a shame.

I would have loved to have seen Ben given COMPLETE control of the offense on game day, years ago. Throughout the week spend the time on correcting the mistakes and development of a plan for the upcoming week. I have always believed that Ben has been used incorrectly, a square peg in a round hole type of thing. He has ALWAYS excelled when playing the sandlot no huddle type game, but that doesn’t allow for the coaches to get their egos stroked from being in complete control.

Did u see the 5 WIDE!! *******?

THEY SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO ME YEARS AGO, IT WAS A THING OF BEAUTY

They should have started all games for the last 5 years like that!!!!

They waited for these last two games to finally do it!

That would take away from Tomlins stubborn play it safe run, run, pass in away games.

Absent a miracle, the Steelers will not make the playoffs this year and the recriminations will explode (they already have).

Let's start. The Leveann Bell debacle sucked more out of this team than we probably want to acknowledge but I think it did. Personally, between he and his agent, the Steelers should have severed ties earlier. Wait till he plays with an average O line good luck.

Our Defense, overall, feels like a bowl of Jello. Floppy and unpredictable. Coaching is lackluster, at best. When MT interferes it just seems to magnify the incompetence (more on that later).

Our Offensive line is stellar thanks to Coach Munchak and quality drafts. We lose people to free agency but our "fill ins" step up and play solid. You have to believe that solid coaching has greatly helped.

Big Ben amazes me. We forget that he was thrust into a starting position as a rookie and never looked back. I know he was a first round pick but so was Eli Manning and Phil Rivers. We are going to be lost for awhile when he retires.

Our running back situation was seriously hurt by the prima donna moves of someone who only cared about $$$ more than Cuba Gooding, Jr. in "Jerry McGuire". Sad. James Conner is hope but he needs some time.

Antonio Brown, however, though a prima donna at times, and who isn't in the NFL, SHOWS up, practices hard and Plays. He retires into the HOF.

JU-Ju Schuster-Smith is a godsend who has a soul and heart for football. Thank you, Lynn Swann (AD at USC) for your tip on drafting him. Takes a pro to know a pro.

What we do this off season, both in player acquisitions and in coaching changes, will spell whether we become a tougher, more disciplined team, (kind of like our O line and Big Ben) or we morph more into an indecisive lot like our defense. With the former we can make a run at a SuperBowl appearance. With the latter, we will be mired in more of the goop we experienced this year.

Doubt it will happen, but would love to see Coach Munchak named HC. He has brought consistency, technique and quality to the O line.

At a minimum, Art Rooney II should demand the resignation of Butler, Porter and tell Coach Tomlin he is bringing in a Defensive coach in the caliber of Munchak. Tell CT to start polishing his resume if we don't make a deep run into the playoffs next year.

If our kicker didn't miss so many FG's. If some of our guys didn't have fumble issues at important times. If our defense didn't give up late 4th quarter TD's. Throw in some bad official calls that directly affected the outcome of games......our season might have went somewhere. Just a season of "if's".

One of my favorite Maiden songs, good call, and very apropos:nod:

Look, the Steelers need some help and I'm not necessarily counting on them getting it, but let's not pretend that Cleveland beating Baltimore would qualify as a "miracle."

The Steelers were 6-2-1 with the Bell drama hanging over them every week. After it was finalized that he would not report for the season they were 2-4. It didn't suck anything out of the team and schematically they adjusted their offense as the season progressed.

Our Offensive line is stellar thanks to Coach Munchak and quality drafts. We lose people to free agency but our "fill ins" step up and play solid. You have to believe that solid coaching has greatly helped.

This cannot be stated enough, but is there a better coach in any sport than Munchak? The guy elevated a decent group of high draft picks to All Pro status and develops undrafted guys into solid starters. It's incredible.

At a minimum, Art Rooney II should demand the resignation of Butler, Porter and tell Coach Tomlin he is bringing in a Defensive coach in the caliber of Munchak. Tell CT to start polishing his resume if we don't make a deep run into the playoffs next year.

Since the Steelers don't seem to fire any guys on their staff anymore, they should suggest that Porter join his son in State College and find a spot on Franklin's staff. Butler can take an early "retirement" like Arians. I look for a DC who has experience as a head coach to take over. Even if they weren't successful, there experience gained on the sidelines seems to be an asset for many who move back to coordinators (outside of Hue Jackson). For Porter's job, I look for an up and comer who spent time working with multiple defensive minds, whether it be at the collegiate or pro level.
