LeVeon Bell.....Update.....NOT EXPECTED TO REPORT THIS SEASON.....

Bell has a terrible agent.

So he sits out the year and then what?

Signs for the same money with a team that doesn't have the same draw as the Steelers, doesn't have the great O-line, or the WR core that helps his game, nor the top QB that makes him elite.

Good luck in Arizona where you'll make 18 mil/year until 2020 when they release you cause your stats are terrible.

Good point Spike. There is no source for this report, so we don’t know that it is any more factual than previous reports. Feels like we’ve been being manipulated by the media for the last month.

I, for one, am just ready for this to be over with. The manipulation will just continue if/when he returns. For whatever reason, he has failed to make a clear decorative statement on his intent.

The best possible outcome is for him not to return, which will actuality galvanize the team even more.

They are going to try to tag him again next year for the same amount and see how that plays out. If the courts say he has to be paid the higher salary, they will drop the tag and transition him. Either way, I hope they put the screws to him as much as possible. Make him sit out another year or, at least, get something for him. His stock for next year has gone down based on how he played this and for sitting out and not playing football for an entire year. His style is unusual in this league. Coordinators and O-linemen won't know how to use or play with him in his first year going anywhere. He is a fool.

I think too much water is under the bridge. If they don't have a tag to use that would allow them to trade him, I wouldn't bother with it. All I hear is they could use the approx 25 million tag. And I think if they do it just gives them the right to talk to him about an extension they will not give him. I think it's time to just make the divorce final. Move on. You will likely get your third round pick in the end.

I agree with the above. They need to just move on. Maybe I'm wrong but I think they still get the compensation pick even if they don't tag him. Either way, let him walk and sign Conner long term.

He gets a full year off next year too. By NFL rule he can’t play for another team for a full season after reneging on this years contract.

Yeah, that's my thoughts as well. Nobody knows what this guys gonna do, even him I suspect. He's in town, now let's see what he does. Predicting one way or the other is just filling pages in the news cycle.

They have two more years with James Conner. He is on a rookie deal. Let him play next year and then make him mega rich for one contract. My personal opinion is that the rules of a rookie contract for running backs needs to change. But until it does, everyone lives by them. Rules on a rookie contract for a running back should be three year max. In the final analysis what happened with Bell was that in that rookie contract he put up some behavior red flags, or this would not be where it is. They never would have let him get to the end of his contract and the franchise tag would have never been invoked. But between the off field and the high risk running back position, they would only offer so much. He wanted more so they rightly used their leverage. Which is why we are here today. Then he wanted to create some ridiculous ceiling for the position instead of just taking huge money and being happy on a good team. The narrative seems to be Le'veon rewrote the holdout rules. Really the narrative is don't **** with the Steelers or their fans. In the end he will almost certainly lose. I guess his one win would be to take really good money with the Pats and win a championship or two. I always said, you put him with Brady and the current rules of football and everyone else is pretty much ******. If you blitz, You have Bell picking it up and people will be identified and thrown to immediately. If you play coverage he will audible to a Bell run at the line. And as a checkdown. ****, I don't even want to think about it. My hope is that he gets paid crazy, crazy money with like a Raiders or something. Go sleep in a bed of cash Le'veon

You know the calm rational side of me that usually wins out tells me they actually DO need him for the stretch run. BUT all the distraction and baggage he is going to bring to this team IF he does return isn't worth it.

They are starting to gel and become a complete team and at this point I can't possibly see how it isn't going to become a distraction.

The best is winning 7 this year, and he doesn't earn a ring, because he is not on the roster. THAT would **** Bell, and would be the closest he'd ever come to winning one.

Well, he's still Steeler property next year. If I understand correctly, his tag amount this year is automatically 120% of last year's salary and his tag amount next year will be 120% of this year's salary. The loophole they apparently found was that he gets the third year tag salary (120%+120%) even if he doesn't play this year at all. I think if he takes two full seasons off then no one will want him at all and for sure not at top money.

I suspect that possibly the goal of him and his agent is to piss off the Steelers enough that they release him so he's a FA that doesn't need a draft pick(s) as compensation. Having to give up a 1st or 1st and 3rd pick essentially lowers his cash value. Another team would be more likely to sign him for more money when they don't have to give up draft picks.

I meant Bell threw the money away. The Steelers saved money. It's a plus for them for sure. I'm very happy about that.

I hear yaz SteelerSask................. There is so much false information out there it's hard to know what is true and what is false and the TALKING HEADS seem to be the most contributing to that fact.

ONLY one thing to know and that is Tuesday at 4pm EST. (I may be off an hour so 5pm EST ). THAT IS THE ONLY RELEVANT THING AT THIS TIME.

The supposed "loophole" isn't a loophole yet. In order for that to become true it will have to be litigated and found favorable in BELLs favor. NOT going to happen. Again Tuesday 4pm EST.

Anything else is hear say or made up. I wouldn't put it past Bell / Agent to announce "no play" this season and then show up at the facility at 3:45 to sign. They (bell / agent) are great at irrelency - headlines.

Cope mentioned the absolute best scenerio but from a business view the best would be to have him NOT show, tag & then trade and NOT match. Once he passes the 4pm EST. he will be irrelevant. ALL eyes on the Tuesday deadline.


As for the vindictive side of things, BELL has brought that all upon himself with the changes of mind.....time.....commitment...... Etc. I'm not vindictive but understand many's here frustration. My self I hope this gets resolved in the least "drama affecting the team" as possible and to the most benefit to the TEAM / Franchise. No I do NOT want bell in a B & G uniform again or do I wish injury on him. As for who he ends up with I have no control over that.


Time as in many things will be the deciding factor. Time waits for no man and BELL has proven he is "just a man".
