Foster wants paid next year..

I'm not saying pay the **** out of him, but Foster has been playing fantastic all year. I'm not sure what everyone's seeing that makes you say otherwise.
 
He's a walk free agent in my opinion. I go draft a guard at the end of R1 and its taken care of for us. We have extra money because of Bell not signing and with Shazier coming off the books but man I'd love to see us go sign an impact player on defense.

No way.CB/ILBer and WR are the bigger needs.

Of course if one was there as the clear BPA, obviously.

You do realize we drafted a WR in R2 this year right?

Also, we have money to go buy a free agent next season. I would certainly hope the front office uses this to their advantage.

given that they suck drafting CB then yes, use the cap space to get a CB in free agency, but use the 1st rounder on an ILB or OLB, with Finney already waiting in the wings you could look for a 3rd round C/G project, there's always talent left there at 3rd/4th round for that position

Not sold on that R2 and who knows if they will be.

I would love a free agent WR, but yeah if things remained unchanged.

Obviously a lot can change between now and then............

I've seen plenty of his interviews and he is a funny guy. He has always been team first. He is 32 years old and in his 9th year in the league. His replacement is waiting in the wings, and he is ready to win the super bowl this year and walk away. I 100% think that this is a jab at LeMeon's greed. This is the same Ramon Foster that created the Steelers Money Bag meme, and updated it each time that someone got paid (AB, Big Al, Joe Haden, Mike Tomlin, Kevin Colbert), with LeMeon's crying Michael Jordan face.

Hold on. Why spent a 1st round pick on a Guard? Finney is just as good, and Feiler has proven capable.

We need CB, ILB, and maybe a 3rd WR in the next draft / free agency.

Foster was a guy who spoke up on social media about Bell making 7 times what he does, and Big Al making 3-4 times as much. He could be George Carlin funny, but talking about other players contracts is taboo and not every player or the organization will take it as a joke.

But he's been talking about / joking about other player's contracts through his money bag meme through each contract (AB, Big Al, Joe Haden, Mike Tomlin, Kevin Colbert) with LeMeon's crying Michael Jordan face. So, yes, he's been doing it for some time, so why is this different? Sure not every player will take it as a joke. With ANY joke, some douche will always take offense.

Id rather a known free agent D acquisition over a drafted one. By the time we pick in the first, the ones worth a round 1 pick are, likely, to be gone. Probably, not as true for other positions.

OTOH, we could just tank the season to get a top pick...

Finney is straight garbage. Guy gets pushed around too easily. No thanks making him a full time starter

That free agent pickup should be on D and we should draft a damn G and let Foster walk. Don't overpay an aging Guard with a 3rd contract. Go get one on the cheap in the same area we drafted DD and you refresh the OL with younger and cheaper talent. We've got the money to make a splash in UFA for the defense.

Also throwing this out there, if we transition tag Le'Veon we can trade his *** instead of letting him walk and get much more value out of him. This is why the tag will not be rescinded.
 
I believe Haden has 1 more year left on his contract after this year. I fully expect them to sign him to a 2 year extension. so some of that 22.5 million from Bell and Shazier, will go to him. And then you have Ben, what will they do with him. let him play out his contract next year. then sign him from year to year. or do you sign him to a 1 or 2 year extension. should be an interesting offseason. they will for sure have money to be player's in free agency this year

I think we all have more faith in their ability to draft Offense over Defense.

Why you ask? Because you can get a Faneca or a DeCastro. SMH.

Finney is just as good as a 1st rounder? He went undrafted. A blue chip 1st rounder is a tremendous upgrade. BJ is solid and will be like another Foster. Feiler has proven to be a 7 pos on game day, and position flexible at all 5 spots. He is proven to be a spot starter, nothing more.

Hence why I had the caveat of "I'm not saying pay the **** out of him". He's an equal piece of a very cohesive unit that has quality backups in Feiler, Finney, & Okorafor.

I say draft a new guy and move on from him. We need to start adding youth to our line. Might as well start with the oldest link.
 
I'd be willing to go 1 year at a time with him for another season or two. I really think the more pressing Oline need within the next couple of years will be Pouncey's heir.
