,Cowher on the Steelers

He and Dan dropped a big deuce all over the franchise, especially with the stupid *** Rooney Rule and the hiring of Dumlin.

Art The Deuce waited until Dan was safely out of the country before he kicked Cowher to the curb like yesterdays trash..

Did you fall out a window and land on your head?....

Art Sr. and Dan were/are Democrats.

But the rest of the R's - Art II, Pat, Tim, etc. - elephants all the way. (They run the team now, not Dan.) Just look on political-contribution websites.

In fact, this one (Pat's son) is a Republican congressman in Florida: http://rooney.house.gov/

Just curious: What does poltical affililation have to do with running a football team?

Enough already. Foi the most part the Rooneys are Republicans (and major contributors).

Dan campaigned for Obama. My statement is accurate. I didn't say that Dan was a Democrat, voted democrat, nor believed in anything Democrat. I simply made a correlation between their campaign affair and matching leadership styles which is to say they dont have any.

But Dan doesn't call the shots for the team like he used (and hasn't for several years).

AR II, and to a lesser extent his brothers, do.

Again, Nothing. This is the football forum not the political forum. This is a correlation between two men who have run their respective country/organization into the ground due to a lack of leadership and instinal fortitude. And before you or anyone starts on the path of but...but...this is Art II's team just remember that Art Sr. put together that 70's dynasty with a young Dan at his side...Dan has assembled a micro dynasty with Cowher and subsequent **** pile with his token Roony rule appointee with Art II by his side. It's becasue of Dan that we have Tomlin and Colbert and Haley.

Yes, we all need "instinal" fortitude.

BTW: It doesn't take a Rooney Rule to hire the likes of Tony Sparano, Rod Marinelli, etc.

No, but when you limit yourself you get coaches like Tomlin. The Steelers only looked at minorities as outside hires. Whiz had already left and they interviewed Tomlin and Riveria from outside.

Exactly. I mean, if the Rooney family wants to be known as a true progressive organization and lead the NFL on issues, they should hire a female native american head coach to show how serious the Steelers are against domestic violence the racist ******** in Washington DC to call themselves the....gasp...I cant even say it....it is so hurtful to Indians everywhere. <--Sarcasm

I'm so tired of this ***** politically correct league.

Tomlin Addresses Cowher & Ward Criticism

Tomlin was asked about critical comments made by former Steelers head coach Bill Cowher and former Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward on Sunday. Both players criticized what they referred to as a "finesse" Steelers offense and called the defense "soft." Tomlin responded at first by saying he didn't know what the comments were. When informed of the comments, Tomlin said he understood that the nature of Cowher's and Ward's jobs as media members was to make critical comments from time to time but also said he does not take the comments seriously. "Obviously I respect those men, but I take their opinions in regards to some of those things they say with their job in media with a grain of salt," Tomlin said. "I don't worry about that. That's elevator music as far as I'm concerned. I'm concerned about the things that are significant. And that's the men inside this organization right now and how they prepare and how they play. Love those guys, but those guys are on the outside looking in."

Having our former Steeler Head Coach and former Steeler Super Bowl MVP criticize our team is a damn good thing. At this point of the season to have lost the faith of your fans is critical to the future of this team. Tomlin should open up his eyes a little and understand the severity of what is going on here. I do hope something comes out of this to provide the well needed passion from our Steeler Head Coach!

Did Noll ever call a Cowher team soft? I can't remember a "soft" Cowher team...you could argue after the SB.

Do you seriously think that Cowher and Ward's comments hold any bearing or apply any weight in the minds of the current administration and staff? Like Coach token said, "it's elevator music" and he sees them as talking heads whose job it is to create stories and attention, and he's right. But what coach token is missing here is that Cowher, Ward, and even Charlie Batch are also voicing the opinions and view points expressed by the fan base. We're the people who spend the money needed to pay for coach token's little world as he sees it. He needs to wake up and see that the Steelers fan base, including it's previous players and coaches, are beginning to turn on this abysmal excuse for a team.

elevator music, interesting

Tomlin knows this team is very soft. How could he not know, unless he is a soft ***** himself. Any person can see that this is not a real Steeler team.

Hey Coach, did you hear Mike Tomlin compared your commentary about the Steelers with "Elevator Music"?

Is Tomlin really supposed to give a damn what Cowher, Ward or any other network flunky think?

Significant List
1A. Jersey Swapping
1B. Tagging Haley's wife

I doubt they looked only at minorities. Chances are they had names on the list who weren't publicized (and were white). But when they interviewed Tomlin, obviously they thought they had their guy. (The Texans interviewed only Lovie Smith before hiring O'Brien. Not exactly an exhaustive search.)

They very easily could have picked someone else, maybe someone of the Caucasian persuasion (to borrow a term from The Buddy Holly Story). And that person might have made Tomlin seem like Lombardi.

Picking coaches is a very inexact science, after all.

All that's happened is that Tomlin is wearing thin. Cowher did, too. As I recall, probably the majority of this board back then wanted him out.

Cowherd was talking about coaches and their teams the other day. He said, 'teams act like their coaches'.

The team plays the way the coaches are.

does that mean we will be replacing helmets with cool sunglasses

Might be elevator music but it is heading up the chart to number one as every sports show starting Monday have said the Steelers are a mess. Guess what Tomlin heads the mess!

Coach token? Ouch. That's pretty hardcore no matter if he is a lousy coach or not.

It's not that tough to know where some are coming from. I don't give a **** if the team was 0-10, that stuff just shows everything you need to know about the person who posted it. He ******* stinks out loud as a coach, all the rest is just people either trying to be clever or showing themselves for what they are all the time. Either way it's pathetic.

Tomlin is too stupid to realize that it takes more than just a little evidence for them to call out the Steelers as soft and finesse. Tomlin will try and use his verbal stupidity to try and spin this but this is a huge indictment of his coaching and the Rooney's have to be seething that this is what their team has become. It is one thing to be playing smart, tough football and getting beat but to be undisciplined, soft, stupid and lazy is a direct reflection on their POS head coach.
