I think that is Burns spot to lose.Really depends on if Sutton forces the issue with outstanding play in training camp. Big year for both players..........

Here is my hope. Joe Haden is entering his 9th year. Wouldn't it be great is Burns AND Cam Sutton both step up and take the #1 & #2 corner positions and move Hayden into the Willie Gay role?

no even tough haden is entering his 9th year he hasn't lost a step he is still elite to start, its not like the ike taylor scenario where he had regressed and lebeau still kept him as a starter.

Sutton impressed me as a rookie, with tight coverage.

While Burns is bigger / faster / the better athlete, you could argue Sutton with some improvement from his rookie campaign is the smarter / more aware player and more reliable in most coverage responsibilities.

We have an excellent slot man in Hilton.

If you saying let Haden walk when his contract is up and play the much cheaper Sutton, that is a possibility.

Trey Johnson will beat out both Burns and Sutton. He’s Coach’s can’t miss player on the team. He will be All-Pro by week 8. He had 29 passes defended in 40+ games in college...so he’s HOF worthy!!!

Slim to none. Burns had a good rookie season and an average 2nd season. He seemed to have a sophomore slump. I have noted this many times. He played well but kept having a habit of looking in the backfield. You could see him do it on the replays. When he did, that is when he got burned. He was trying to do too much. He needs to play more tight coverage where he stays with his man. I think and hope he will improve significantly from his 2nd to 3rd seasons. Our D needs that to happen.

I was wondering when you would comment. As usual you aren't remotely close to quoting me accurately. I just thought the rookie showed world class speed on his pro day, and made a lot of plays on the ball.

If memory serves you did not think 2 interceptions and 12+ pass defensed in a college season was good for a corner. You're wrong as usual. I also posted his film where those with working eyes not covering by dark shades watching television could see how good he was at breaking up passes and judge his ability on jump balls which was also impressive. At 5’11” he’s not that short.

Trey Johnson will get his chance in training camp vs. a very deep group of corners. If he makes the practice squad, I think that would be a good thing. He might beat out our 5th corner as a rookie. We shall see. Haden, Burns, Sutton, and Hilton are locks baring an injury.

I didn’t quote you moron, I was ridiculing you. Your memory is poor. I never commented negatively of Johnson’s numbers, only your comparison of Johnson to the safety drafted in the 5th. Marcus Allen.

You posted film!!!! Hahahaha, you think you have working eyes??!! Whose film did you post? You Tube highlight clips? Gheez, so delusional it’s pathetic.

He might beat our 5th corner? Do you even know who that is? Sensabaugh, Brian Allen are way above Johnson you idiot. You think he will beat those players out? Brainless “Coach”speak. You just love to hear yourself talk.

Sensabaugh is very beatable. He wan't even active the last month of the season. He was a break glass in case of emergency outside only corner. If Johnson is better than him, he makes the team.

Hayden is a starter, no one on our team is unseating him.

As far as Burns vs Sutton, I think it will be a position battle, and I hope it pushes Burns. It seems that Sutton is more of a student of the game, whereas Burns is the better athlete. May the best player win. Even if Sutton unseats Burns as the #2, I'd still expect the Steelers to keep Sutton inside or as another safety in the nickel/dime, putting Burns back on the field on the edge.

Competition breeds success. I'm all for it, since our Corners, who were terrible until last year, are showing more improvement every year, finally.

I don't care who they put out there as long as the **** fest of the last couple of years doesn't happen again. Whether it's scheme or talent it is about time we see better results. Period!!!!

So you're judging a guy before he even hits a full camp? You don't even know what good production is from a cornerback. DUH. If you know what you looking for skills can be shown on ANY video.

Your problem is you shot first and can't even aim later. Blindly commenting on a guy you never saw on any film, failing to realize what good statistical production looks like, compounded by not being able to recognize the above on film.:uglyhammer:

Sensabaugh is not guaranteed a roster spot and Allen to me needs to prove he's quick enough to play corner in the NFL. He did not look like he was based on what I've seen.

Am I judging? You are the idiot claiming Johnson could be the 5th corner and hasn’t even been to a camp.

I know plenty enough about corners. I know you cherry pick what YOU think is laudable talent, when you have no baseline. You look at highlight films and never review 22 film or game tapes, which provides baseline to the good and bad. So spare us your self idolization. Leave it to folks who put in the time and effort who actually makes objective conclusions.

You are right Sensabaugh isn’t a guaranteed a spot, in fact, he probably doesn’t make the team. And you need to see Allen is quick enough? Based on what you’ve seen? Then you haven’t seen anything or followed his development from last year. My Lord, he ran a 4.48 and his speed one one of his attributes that attracted him to be drafted only 2 years removed from playing WR. He could be the next Ike Taylor, or standout specialist.

Give it a rest......your shtick is old and boring.

anything to get a fire under Burns *** (see what I did there?)

Next season I hope both are starting while Haden takes a paycut and retires as a Steeler with a SB ring

I think Burns will have a better year due to more experience. Sutton will definately improve over last year. Our new DB coach might make a lot of difference with both guys but I think Burns has the edge on retaining his position. If he can be coached into NOT peeking into the back field as much he will leap and bound forward and we will notice it. GOOD luck to both and I hope like hell the3y both push each other to the limit and then some.

Salute the nation

Burns does really well when playing man, the phantom PI vs NE was perfect coverage. He struggled a bit in zone though.

This team really needs a best man plays attitude. Id love to see that become a camp battle. Same with Keon Adams. I have no idea what he is but if you dont have the mentality of the best play, you really hurt your team.

Ike ran reportedly a 4.24 40. Tom Shaw, who trained Ike, said he is the fastest player he has ever trained. He had also trained Dion Sanders and Chris Johnson. There is no comparison between Allen's speed and Ike's.

Ike makes lots of mistakes, right 4.48 :)

Yes--Johnson could be our 5th corner. Key word could. He's got blazing speed, and good ball skills, things that are shall we say hard to coach.

Ike Taylor didn’t attend the combine, so he didn’t have an official 40 time Titus. At his ULL pro day he ran an unofficial 40 time of sub 4.2 (some say 4.18).

He was running 4.4’s in his 12th year and routinely ran them his entire career. The 4.48 I commented on was his reported time IN PADS during one of his Latrobe camps. He promoted Tom Shaw for the majority of his off season workouts, along with Sanders....who then went into broadcasting. But Taylor continued to train and run 40s with the rookies at Shaw’s camps.

Coach, save yourself from your own mantra. The tally of your mistakes and bone headed comments would make the Dri Archer thread look like a Dr. Suess book.

As for you predicting Johnson possibly being our 5th corner? Well, even a blind squirrel finds a acorn once in a while. Thing is, your worse than the blind squirrel without nuts.

0%, they play separate positions. One is an outside corner and the other an inside
